First camping trip of the year, which I've been waiting for since…well…errr…. last year and it's going to pour down!

Gutted!!!!

Anybody else checking the 5 day forecast hourly, hoping upon hope that it's changed?? Sad

Yes I'm on weather watch for Brighton area and it's not looking good :-(

IpsyUpsyDaisyDo · 19/05/2014 21:23

Hmm We're heading to the New Forest on Thursday, I'm hoping for a a late turnaround in the forecast.... Would be wonderful if we got weather like the weekend just gone!

hillbilly · 19/05/2014 22:12

I'm optimistic delusional Grin

shirazplease · 20/05/2014 09:08

On a positive note, I've discovered bags of mojito in Home Bargains. That should help cheer me up!

Maybe we should all blow in the same direction at the right time? And throw the weather system off track?

PeterParkerSays · 20/05/2014 13:48

We're off to Norfolk on Sunday. It can't rain, we have a prior engagement with the beach, and a bucket and spade, and fish and chips.

Bum.

shirazplease · 20/05/2014 14:00

OMG a friend has just posted this article on FB

"SHOCK FORECAST: Worst thunderstorms in FIFTY years to rip through Britain THIS week"

I'm thinking that that nice long pole in my Bell is quite attractive to lightning.

Shock

We have a lovely weekend planned lazing in the sun and pottering about on our bikes.
The weather forecast seems to get worse every hour!!!!! Dh reassures me that it's not so accurate four days in the future

TheFantasticMrsFox · 21/05/2014 07:15

Pssst theres sun on my forecast for Dorset on Sunday and Monday Hmm

MummyPigsFatTummy · 21/05/2014 11:38

Rats! We are off to Elderflower Fields festival. THERE MUST BE SUN - I don't have room in the car for the wet weather gear. Bugger!

That said, we went last year and the forecast was diabolical. It was coming down in sheets as we drove there - we even had to do a welly stop as I had point blank refused to pack them (bizarrely) - and Saturday, Sunday and Monday turned out beautiful (if a bit muddy) in the end.

So I am deluded optimistic this year will be the same...

shirazplease · 21/05/2014 14:22

I'm just trying to tell myself that it's never as bad when you're in it packs more wine

moogalicious · 21/05/2014 14:28

And this is why I am no longer booking camping trips.

Last year it forecast heavy rain and we still went. The tent flooded and we had to abandon ship.

So this year, no more frantic checking of the forecasts. No more sitting in the tent waiting for the rain to stop. No more traipsing around random towns killing time until the rain stops.

If we get a run of good weather, we'll pack up and go. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/05/2014 14:36

The worst storms forecast is utter bollocks. However, I have to say, the forecast for the weekend isnt exactly looking brilliant.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 21/05/2014 14:47

OYBBK Sad. I don't suppose there is a micro-climate showing over Nutley, East Sussex by any chance?

shirazplease · 21/05/2014 16:14

I totally agree with you Moog, but if I didn't pre book these trips, we'd never go anywhere, as weekends would get clogged up with kids birthday parties and so on….if worst comes to worst, we come home.

Really hope it's all sunny for you MPFT, at least not torrential

MirandaWest · 21/05/2014 16:50

DS is going on cub camp this weekend

hillbilly · 21/05/2014 17:54

Mummypig we will also be in East Sussex and at the moment only Saturday looks wet. Fingers crossed!

AntinousWild · 21/05/2014 17:57

There was an almost identical thread a few days before the bank holiday a couple of weeks ago. OP was worried about her camping trip. Turned out the weather was actually surprisingly lovely, despite what the weather forecast threatened. Have hope. And perhaps an umbrella just in case.

Nobloomingideapgornot · 21/05/2014 18:04

Also off to the new Forrest on Friday....wish us luck!!

headlesslambrini · 21/05/2014 18:06

We are off to a fab campsite, if it rains I shall simply book myself into for a facial on the on site beauty salon, followed by a cheeky glass or two in the bar, a bite to eat and return to the pitch to continue to chill whilst the DCs are either fishing with DH or swimming.

shirazplease · 21/05/2014 19:12

Headless, I require more information about this site please!
