ooh Hilly and mummypig - where are you going to be??????
anywhere near me??

hillbilly · 22/05/2014 20:35

We will be around Alfriston, Polegate I think? A site we have never been to before, Alfriston Camping Park - looks great and fires allowed. Is that close to you?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 22/05/2014 23:03

It looks 50/50 whether (or not) we will get the tent pitched in the dry tomorrow.

Saturday look dreadful. There are very few indoor attractions that appeal to us in the area that we're going. Thankfully Sunday and Monday look better.

Good luck everyone!

MegBusset · 22/05/2014 23:12

We were supposed to be camping at Hunstanton (Searles) this weekend. Having looked at the forecast we decided to upgrade to a static caravan!

madhairday · 22/05/2014 23:18

Nooooo, we're off to Dorset on Saturday. Do not relish the thought of pitching in the rain, though we're slightly cheating as have a folding camper. Still have to put the awning up though. We're there for the week - please tell me it gets better than Saturday?

Good luck to all the hardy campers this weekend.

TheFantasticMrsFox · 23/05/2014 06:46

Dorset is not too bad after Saturday madhair :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2014 08:27

Sunday looks lovely madhair - for most people in the south and midlands. Monday showers and thunderstorms might move in.

MirandaWest · 23/05/2014 08:39

We're in Yorkshire. DS will get v wet on his camp this weekend won't he?

madhairday · 23/05/2014 09:20

Thanks Fox and Kitten

Off to start packing and hope the rain holds off today so we can pack the camper without soaking the bedding.

Miranda - is ds on cub camp? They seem to get soaked and covered in mud anyway, regardless of rain or sun Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2014 13:07

:( latest gfs has a lot of rain moving in on Monday. so sorry everyone.

EwanHoozami · 23/05/2014 13:14

Any better from Tuesday? I'm doing Tues-Sat in a bell tent in Somerset because I am an idiot and believed the headlines about the 6 week heatwave Blush

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2014 14:05

Sadly doesnt look that way Ewan, it looks very similar to this weekend really, so there will be some sunshine but probably heavy showers too.

NecklessMumster · 23/05/2014 15:25

We were meant to be camping at Hay on wye this weekend, car packed yesterday but dp said forecast too bad and unpacked car so really peed off.But didn't want to be in muddy tent with moaning preteens. Now I'm getting fed up when the sun comes out . I think I'd have gone anyway if just up to me

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2014 17:47

Monday doesnt look so bad now, showers in the afternoon. Far SE might scrape away with a pretty dry weekend.

I think the best thing actually this weekend is to go with the flow cos it changes everytime I look at it!

Dickorydockwhatthe · 23/05/2014 17:50

Where is everyone getting their weather updates from??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2014 18:02

I get it mostly from wetterzentrale
Grin

NettleTea · 23/05/2014 22:25

Beautiful evening here in East Sussex - we are in Robertsbridge, not far from Battle.

MegBusset · 24/05/2014 13:38

Last night was gorgeous here in Hunstanton. Rained all night and morning so glad we switched from tent to van - there is a duck pond (complete with ducks) underneath our caravan#

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 26/05/2014 17:38

Well we survived a very wet Saturday and Sunday then typically the sun came out today.

The field was in good condition, but quickly got very muddy in the doorway. The tent isn't as wet as I'd imagined but the front got very muddy. We've got more laundry than I care to think about and 2 very tired boys!

We didn't do as much as we'd hoped, but it was still fun.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/05/2014 17:41

I seem to have been stuck under the rain all day long. Hey ho.

hillbilly · 26/05/2014 18:13

Had a great weekend in East Sussex. Sunny and warm except for heavy intermittent showers on Saturday afternoon and we woke up to an hour or so of rain this morning. Sunday was so beautiful we all caught the sun on the beach. Not bad considering the forecast Smile

millimat · 26/05/2014 21:49

We're still away in north Wales. Heavy rain Saturday but beautiful sun and warm Sunday and today!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/05/2014 22:38

We had gorgeous weather at the Suffolk coast. It rained heavily Friday night and until mid morning Saturday. But other than that it was glorious sunshine. We pitched and struck camp in the dry. Perfect.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 26/05/2014 23:05

Well, that was a mixed bag. We were at Elderflower Fields Festival in Nutley. Friday was lovely, Saturday it rained on and off for much of the day resulting in a mud bath, Sunday was gorgeous and today it rained so everything is wet. But we all had a brilliant time and DD cried when we had to leave. Roll on Elderflower 2015!

shirazplease · 27/05/2014 08:17

Glad everyone survived and that you're looking forward to elderflower fields again MPFT

we had an ace weekend in spite of TORRENTIAL rain. Got really lucky on fri as the rain stopped whilst we pitched. Saturday rained all day, but was fine as we mooched in the bell drinking coffee, whilst the girls spread elastic bands everywhere made 1000s of loom band bracelets (highly recommend as rainy day activity)

Sun was lovely. Eldest even swam in the Frome (crazy) although BITTER at night.

Mon was lovely too. So, amazingly, we packed a nice dry tent.

I'm now looking at this weekends forecast, wondering if we should head off again!

I heart summer!
