What's new and exciting in the world of camping gadgets then?

I do not want the Lakeland snack stand before someone links me that.

Something for cooking on/in/with? Dunno. Can't be a great enormous vessel/contraption as space is at a premium already the bloody dds have gone and grown longer so footwell space has now been compromised.

Something lighting? NO FAIRY LIGHTS.

No also to bunting, chandeliers, weird carpets or a Cadac. None of that sort of guff.

Fancy a thing for 2014 but what?

Does anyone else not drink while camping? I just never want it in that setting.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 25/04/2014 22:33

No. I fancy a drink in any setting generally. Apart from in a breakfastsetting maybe... Grin

JiltedJohnsJulie · 25/04/2014 22:48

I don't drink either. We camped in Wales a couple of weeks ago and I think if I'd had a drink I would never been able to keep up with the DC and their early morning starts.

Been camping before DC but now been for years. Love the look of those eye lights and the toaster fork. Think I need to start compiling a list...Smile

shirazplease · 26/04/2014 17:02

I always fancy a drink too MPFT Grin or should that be Shock

Although….I tend to get tipsy pretty quickly when camping, guess it's all the fresh air and exhaustion so never drink as much as I plan to!

Sitting down and having a beer as you wait for the BBQ to go ashy or the kids build the fire, and wine later round the fire or in the late night silence under the stars are a big part of the camping experience for me.

expatinscotland · 26/04/2014 18:06

See, I would actually love that, Blu, but with DS's ASD and ADHD, an Aeropress is a far better bet.

AlpacaLypse · 26/04/2014 18:24

I want want want the dinky little wraparound light thingy! We've graduated onto renting holiday homes due to both DP and me having dodgy backs and the girls being teenagers, but they never have decent bedside lights and I'm getting bored of unplugging my own and shoving it in the boot.

Blu · 26/04/2014 18:40

Ah, I can see that expat.

I went camping all on my own a couple of years ago....there is much to recommend it once in a while.

expatinscotland · 26/04/2014 19:08

Camping on one's own is bliss!

hillbilly · 26/04/2014 19:19

I camped on my own with the kids last week for the first time and it wAs brilliant :-)

Blu · 26/04/2014 19:48

Oh, yes, camping 'on my own' with Ds has always been fab - but camping 'all on my own' in the no-kids part of Blackberry Wood, in a secluded glade up a little path, all on my own...that was peaceful! 2 nights, walking on the S Downs in the day, perfect!

hillbilly · 26/04/2014 19:54

Oh yes Blu I remember you camping totally on your own. Was that last year? I have never thought to camp without the children but now you've got me thinking..........Grin

Blu · 26/04/2014 20:29

I think it was the year before last. I was dithering about between Blackberry Wood child-free bit and Nethergong Nursery. I might a chance this summer, too.

How about this???
shop.biolitestove.com/campstove.html#.U1w6W1VdU3k

we let our guests recharge their ipads/phones with them

yellowdinosauragain · 27/04/2014 12:37

I've finally acquired a Dutch oven! Now just need to pass my exams and get some time back to go camping and experiment...

I've done the orange cakes too. With chocolate brownie packet mix. Yum

We have wash bags with inbuilt hooks so no dramas in the showers.

Pootlingalong · 27/04/2014 20:07

Or perhaps the Cobb could get a new accessory?
