PEACHY!!! just looked at Essex camping and they have the tahoma for £175 in their special offers that don't give a description is it the right one? How much do they charge for delivery?

OP posts:
Xena · 14/06/2006 18:13

ohh I think it only has 2 bedrooms

OP posts:
peachyClair · 14/06/2006 18:42

£10 for delivery

yes only 2 bedrooms I am afraid- yyou can use the centre though, we will, as it is SIG.

caravan club is probably the same, the camping and caravanning club it is called. Apaprently Forest holidays are now members, just signed contract.

peachyClair · 14/06/2006 18:45

DH has his eye on that Grin

Xena · 14/06/2006 18:46

Blush never used it for a discount, just magazine and their directory of places.

Why does the one on ebay say sleeps4?

OP posts:
peachyClair · 14/06/2006 19:04

Heaven only nows, sleeps 9 easy.

We are a family of five, but all boys. So me and Dh trake a pod, boys take a pod. The diabolo 900- BIG. even for a family our size. The Tahoma feels like a cavernous space, this is bigger- and better.

Also, the tent sales chap at our local display ahs one of these. Says he won't swap it and recommends it- despite not stocking it. A good reference in my book.

It would take a little longer to put up, but the shape is identical and would be easy still.

peachyClair · 14/06/2006 19:07

9DH says try taunton leisure, they have last years model vango Diabolo 900 at a good discount)

cannot find on their website, but the site is \link{http://www.tauntonleisure.com/product_detail.php?item=7621\ here} why not e-mail them (were there last week). Also, the one I linked direct to might suit?

Janbo25 · 14/06/2006 20:37

Hi peachy yes I am Manchester based, just been looking at the Tahoma as recommended and the difference between that and the diablo like you say they are identical in shape, The diablo says it is 100% waterproof because of the Protex 3000 flysheet is this the same do you know for the tahoma?

Thanks

Belo · 15/06/2006 09:05

Xena, here's a link to Aspinells. We quite fancy \link{http://www.caravans-camping.co.uk/70040/info.php?p=7&pno=0&pid=494247&cat=14582&ack=9&search=&sought=\this} tent. It seems to tick all of your boxes too.

Is Khayam a good make? Dh is going to contact Aspinells today and find out what they mean by 'factory seconds'.

Xena · 15/06/2006 09:25

Belo I really need a 3 bedroom tent for long term use as the 2 boys can share and the 2 girls can share, rather than the littlest one sharing with DH and I and the other 3 sharing.
Peachy I really like the vango you linked it would give us storage as well... ahh how to choose.
The folding camper is going today I will be sad to see it go!

OP posts:
peachyClair · 15/06/2006 09:46

Yes it's totally waterproof, HH is 3000 it has the separate flysheet and we had a few really severre strorms with flooding and it never leaked a drop. Frankly, I would be surprised if any of the main brand tents were not 100% waterproof; occasionally you buy an ebay one that isn't (American usually, tested for the Florida market)- but Khyam, Gelert, Vango, Outwell- all more than adequate. Never heard an issue about any of them with regards to this.

In fact, with a SIG, tents are better now than they have ever been ime (and I have been camping a Loooong time)

FillyjonktheFluffy · 15/06/2006 09:49

thats a fab tent, belo and an awesome price. Go for it-the XLs are already all sold out Sad

peachyClair · 15/06/2006 09:58

Xena, if you like the Vango- given the Caravan and camoping reviews I would grab it. Seriously. Can also vouch for the company as worked opposite for years, we used to go there at lunch time for potatoes (met Dh there, on one of those jaunts- he worked for same company as me).

tessasmum · 15/06/2006 10:05

We have a Khyam XXL and its GREAT. Can't find a fault with it yet and we've had it 2 years. Could even put it up when 8 1/2 months pg so must be easy!!!
VERY good make I'd say!

FillyjonktheFluffy · 15/06/2006 10:40

how quick TM?

Really want to justify buying one

Whats it like inside? Is it dark? (please don't say it is cosy or my credit card will cry)

tessasmum · 15/06/2006 11:31

Filly - Slower when pg but usually less than 1/2 hour with everything in and ready to go and that includes a 'helpful' toddler!.
I like it inside and think its quite light - ours has a window on either side of the middle bit. However the outside is a dark enough colour to ensure toddlers sleep till a reasonable hour! We have a 2 person and 4 person inner which makes the middle bit seem huge (great for wet days and toddlers!) Up until now DD (3) has had the 2 person bit for herself and toys and we have had the 4 person bit for DH and I and 'stuff' (in foldable crates of course!) This year DS (7mths) will be in with us as well but after that he will be in with DD.
We got ours on ebay for £250 and consider it a damn good bargain. We met up with the seller (who was apparently selling it on behalf of Frank Bruno!!) and pulled it apart in S. Mimms service station before parting with the cash!!
I love it.
Hope that hasn't made your credit card weep!

FillyjonktheFluffy · 15/06/2006 11:59

oh jesus god, is it dark at night? Nooooooo!

FillyjonktheFluffy · 15/06/2006 12:00

Sorry, I mean, "night" as in when you want them to sleep but technically its still light?

Because if it is...oh crap its already a bad month...

tessasmum · 15/06/2006 12:08

Not dark, dark but darker than outside as ours is a maroon/dark green outer. It works better in the morning in our household as DD is so knackered out from all the fresh air that would probably sleep standing up in the evening!!

FillyjonktheFluffy · 15/06/2006 13:01

oh crap
