Just tried to order the Khayam XXL from Aspinells. They've sold out of the factory seconds. Can't afford a full price one. Feeling so Sad now after all the comments about how good they are. Maybe it was too good to be true.

LucyCampCat · 15/06/2006 14:28

What about \link{http://www.outdooraction.co.uk/acatalog/CAMPUS_TENT_CLERANCE.html\this Campus tent?} They are the same tents as Khyam but different colours and on a quick glance they look pretty similar. I'll keep looking for you!

LucyCampCat · 15/06/2006 14:29

Crap link sorry - it's the Campus Indiana 8. At £180 seems good value!

LucyCampCat · 15/06/2006 14:31

and their postage is only a fiver, over £200 it's free Grin

ediemay · 15/06/2006 15:10

ooooh ladies! Thanks for all of this! am dying to buy a big tent, have HAD IT with crouching. Do any of these come with a handy fold-out bloke to put them up?

Belo · 15/06/2006 15:32

Oh yes Ediemay, thats exactly what I want. Not just to put the tent up though. Maybe one I could bring home with me and who doesn't explode at me when the kids make a mess! Now thats a totally different thread.

Thanks Lucy. I'll have a look at that one now. Oh dear, I'm getting very behind at my work but looking at tents is so much more exciting....

FillyjonktheFluffy · 15/06/2006 20:05

well the khyam very nearly does...

ediemay · 16/06/2006 00:27

Grin Belo, let me know if you find one of those!!!

Janbo25 · 16/06/2006 17:32

thanks peachy, we are going to go to Go Outdoors I think at weekend and have a look but going off what you have said think I will go for the one you have recommended

peachyClair · 16/06/2006 18:31

Always worth a look. Just packed our away after cleaning it (was a bit damp when we packed it down at Whitsun) and was quite easy to fit in the bag- it comes in a three compartment canvas suitcase- a definite improvement to those peg bag / pole bag / tent abg combos from yesteryear Grin

If you have an e- mail e-mail me on peaches and cream 04 @ btinternet dot com and I can e-mail back a few real life pictures of ours at Whitsun if that would help you decide? With real people in Shock for scale

Janbo25 · 17/06/2006 10:36

thanks peachy i have emailed you this morning

peachyClair · 17/06/2006 14:54

Dh replied whilst I was chatting, hope he included everything you wanted- I didn't even know he was doing it!!!!!

Janbo25 · 17/06/2006 20:30

Thanks very much it does look great i think it actually looks better than the vango diablo don't you think?? I don't suppose you have any pics of the inside do you?

peachyClair · 17/06/2006 20:58

Sorry I don't think we do TBH, have you seen the Gelert catalogue though? can pop in post for you iff you e-mail me, abot time I parted with it (or ordered a second LOL)

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 08:56

Hi, no worries i sent off for the catalogue myself the other day after your recommendation, I am now just looking at airbeds I would like one of the triple queen size ones, do you know whether they are any good??

Blandmum · 18/06/2006 09:00

if the air bers are very tall make sure that they will fit into a sleeping pod without touching the sides, before you buy them. I know people who have made this mistake.

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 09:18

well not sure thats a huge concern as I am planning in sleeping in the living part so i'm not clautrophobic

Blandmum · 18/06/2006 09:23

I don't like sleeping next to the side if the tent because I am a litle claustrophobic Smile

vitomum · 18/06/2006 09:25

can i butt in for a bit of advice please? i'm going on my first post ds camping trip in two weeks in our new secondhand vango venture 5oo. This week i am planning on buying:

1 fold down table
2 fold down chairs
1 lamp
i double air bed
cool box
2 thermal travle mugs
disposable BBQ

already have stove

does that sound enough for a reasonably pleasant experience or am i missing something vital?

any tips gratefully received

HenniPenni · 18/06/2006 09:54

Vitomum, you seem to be missing sleeping bags or quilt, If you have an Aldi near you, you might still be able to get the camping table for £14.99

vitomum · 18/06/2006 10:00

thanks heenipenni, yes i will take my quilt and i'll be giving Aldi's a try too (a recent discovery for me) and my plan so far is to also go to Homebase and the BigW

HenniPenni · 18/06/2006 10:04

The big w have plastic backed picnic rugs at £4.99 an last time we were in there, they had all picnic plates etc were half price.

vitomum · 18/06/2006 10:06

oh a picnic rug!! a definite essential - going on my list right now, thanks!

Janbo25 · 18/06/2006 16:57

I have today been out with the intention of buying a vango diabl 600 or gelert Tahoma, however I then found the Outwell Montana 6 and now we like that one more, so any recommendations on ones similar to the montana would be appreciated
