is that a prediction or a suggestion, peachy?

peachyClair · 13/06/2006 19:04

not sure LOL

Xena · 13/06/2006 19:16

I was just looking at the ones in argos peachy the HH are 2000 so that is ok yes?. I don't really have a set budget the camper sold for 530 less the 19 ebay fees. So from that I need to buy
a tent
beds for.. me and DH, DS1 (8) and DD1 (4). DD2 (1) and DS2(0) can sleep in travel cots. I was thinking about ready beds for the DC's? as they need new sleeping bags anyway. We have our king size sleeping bag from the camper (which SS recommended last year) but will we need something to go under it? airbed?
We have a little BBQ and a one ring hob thing as we never used to cook in the camper. But we need a fridge or coolbox. Do I need some sort of kitchen stand?
A water jerrican
And an electric hook up lead.
Anything I've forgotten?

Xena, I hope you don't think I'm hijacking your thread. But, it does sound like we're looking for the same thing, (but my budget is tight).

Peachyclair, if you could look for the name of the tent you saw that would be fab. I can then have a search for them online.

We went camping for the 1st time last weekend and we want to do more - but need to get a bigger tent. It was all a bit of a squash and a squeeze.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 19:34

khyam harvard is only about £120 and sleeps easily 5 (I mean properly 5, not pissily 5)

Or you can get them as seconds which I think is ok but I think I will be mocked for suggesting it. try aspinalls.

Xena · 13/06/2006 20:04

Mine needs to fit 6 well as the 2 little ones need travel cots. I like the idea of 3 rooms so the 2 older children can have a cot each.

Lucy, I love you - I don't know how I've missed finding it before but that Outwell site...it's like Tent Porn. Just watched the putting up of the Outwell Montana 6 with something approaching ecstasy. That is definitely the one I want - now just have to persuade dh...

peachyClair · 13/06/2006 20:15

If you have the budget go for a name- either the khyam or another name. \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-2006-GELERT-TAHOMA-6-DOME-TENT-DISCOUNT-CAMPING_W0QQitemZ8828156915QQcategoryZ16041QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\this} is what I have, after exhaustive research (inlcluding a tip off from someone whose Dh works there Wink)

\link{http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3408616/Trail/C%24cip%3D36237.Sports%2Band%2Bleisure%3EC%24cip%3D36238.Camping%2Band%2Bcaravaning%3EC%24cip%3D36243.Tents.htm\ this} is the Argos one, have no idea about the individual tent but as I say, good experience of pro-action.

TBH, there are so many tents around now- and so many are identical. SallyStrawberry and I will never agree on one Grin Wink coz we like different things in a tent. But that's OK, there's something for everyone.

We don't have a kitchen stand btw, so from that bidget I would spend up to £300 happily, unless you can as i say get last years (find tent yu want THEN go on ebay) excess stock / colourway cheaper on ebay.

Nothing compares though with seeing what you need- if you really cannot make it to a display, go on the websites 9gelert, vango, outwell khyam sunncamp to start) and request brochures.

Actually have you considered the sunncamp mondial? \link{http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/shop/Detail.asp?ProductID=1203\here}, one next to us last time and it seemed fine.

Janbo25 · 13/06/2006 20:29

We are off to buy a tent for the first time this weekend and have been looking at the vango diablo 6 man, any advice?

LucyCampCat · 13/06/2006 20:37

rofl marthamoo - Tent Porn!! Grin

The Vango website does much the same, with a Scottish lady doing the commentary!

Dontcha just love the river next to the tents on the Outwell site and the unbelievably flat pitch!

marthamoo · 13/06/2006 20:41

Yes, I want to camp there - completely computer generated: no bugs, no lumpy rocks under your groundsheet, no mud...

Going to ply dh with wine now and watch Tent Porn together...wish me luck Smile

LucyCampCat · 13/06/2006 20:48

ahhh but no sunshine or wine box either!

Good luck with the Monty persuading. They are a bargain at Go Outdoors. £329 - you wouldn't get a week in a caravan for that!

Confession time - we bought another tent for weekends on Sunday from Go Outdoors Blush We now have 3 Blush

peachyClair · 13/06/2006 21:00

Janbo yes some advice

the Tahoma is identical to the diablo but costs less

trust me on that

peachyClair · 13/06/2006 21:02

Janbo25 · 13/06/2006 21:21

Xena · 13/06/2006 22:19

We got ours from \link{http://www.essexcamping.com/\ essex camping}- next day delivery, very friendly. It takes about 45 minutes to put up (maybe an hour first time) but that's fully pegged and ready to go. It JUSt fits on a standard pitch, so we get space and no extra charges. have to say, we love it (did you guess?) and everybody stopped to see it on our last trip (first time out with it).

peachyClair · 14/06/2006 11:05

Sorry, its made by Gelert, who are a good name.

LucyCampCat · 14/06/2006 13:30

You are doing a great job plugging the ole Tahoma peachy! are you on commission? Wink

Janbo, if you went to Camperlands then are you Manchester based?

peachyClair · 14/06/2006 16:22

LOl- it does sound like that doesn't it?

No, we just got sick of everyone saying how great their Diablos were and not having heard of the Tahoma. Plus, if everyone on MN gets one- well, they're relatively rare so they'll do in substitute for the bat Wink

Tahoma, as sponsored by MN Campers PMSL!

Now, anyone want to join caravan and camping- great value, good sites (oh year and if you quote my number on joining I get a free gift)- much better deal for me LOL Wink Wink Grin

peachyClair · 14/06/2006 17:14

Oh and forest holidays taking camping and caravanning members at a discount from next year.........

peachyClair · 14/06/2006 17:41

Saw a review of the vango TBS sprite in caravan and camping, supposed to be good too.
