MN Camping Meet Up!!

Patttsy · 05/06/2006 16:24

Now, it is just a suggestion, following the lines of UKCampsite meet ups.

I am really good at making suggestions, no good at the fine details, if someone/anyone thinks it is a good idea we could if you are all in agreement try and go somewhere for next year (forward planning!!) Or the weekend before school starts in Sep 2006?

What do you all think?

(Don't all rush at once...I know my threads are sooo popularWink)

I presume we are bringing kids but what about dps?

What about a few meet ups at the same time across the country with story/piccy sharing via the boards on our return?

bresha · 07/06/2006 20:04

i didn’t think about dp, he will think im crazy if i say lets go meet up with a bunch of people iv met on line

Patttsy · 08/06/2006 09:54

Gloucestershire, is it the Forest of Dean?

My children absolutely loved their trip their last year.

I don't mind where we decide to meet up (within reason, would like good toilet/shower block:)), but agree with nannyme maybe we'd need to agree a couple of meet ups around the country and at different times so that anyone who wishes to come can have a fair attempt at making one of the meet ups.

My DH is well up for it, he kinda likes MN since they helped him out of an employment hole a while back.

Nemo1977 · 08/06/2006 11:46

ohhh I would be interested especially if its next year as gives me time to organise myself. I have ds 3,dd 1 in dec and will have db in jan

peachyClair · 08/06/2006 11:50

That sounds realistic and fair Pattsy. Perhaps we need to break it down, like south west / south central; eastern, and northern? (Mind you I fully admit that I've only been to the eastern side once and snap northern so if its bigger I wouldn't know! Wink)

Perhaps people could state their vague regions? Me, wales, soputh, south west, midlands all OK

Patttsy · 08/06/2006 12:09

Maybe we could/should make new conversation threads for each region? Otherwise someone would be obliged to trawl through to find out where there nearest MNers camping meet up details.

I am quite happy with South Wales, and Southern England.

So...suggestions for suitable campsites and dates. What constitutes a "good" campsite?

OP posts:
Patttsy · 08/06/2006 12:10

Broadly speaking (re:good campsite), hopefully we can agree on this:)

I would do dorset (can tie in with family visit) potentially new forest area, and of course good old east anglia!

bresha · 08/06/2006 13:12

I like the idea of making new conversation threads for each region! Im in the south and couldn’t really travel 2 far. New forest would be a good location, iv never been there but have been meaning to go for ages!

peachyClair · 08/06/2006 13:25

Went to the New Forest this year, would happily go back- fgot all the Forestry Commission bumph in the car, will dig out when I collect ds3 in a mo

Patttsy · 08/06/2006 13:32

Another vote for New Forest

OP posts:
bresha · 08/06/2006 13:40

Are we going to have different region meet ups then? shall i start a new thread for the south?

bresha · 08/06/2006 13:45

Holmsley Caravan & Camping Site(New Forest) sounds good, it has 700 pitches - tents - caravans - motorhomes - premium pitches with hook-ups - hot & cold water - flush toilets -chemical disposal point - showers - baby changing facilities - launderette - shop - take-away - payphone - children's play area - disabled facilities - dogs welcome (3 dogs maximum per pitch), also reserved dog-free area

Patttsy · 08/06/2006 14:01

My DH took kids there last weekend (Holmsley), they loved it and so did I (I stayed at home:))

OP posts:
peachyClair · 08/06/2006 14:03

Yes Holmsley- we went to hollands Wood which was ace, but the playa rea does appeal.

Also because they don't do allocated pitches it would be easier to get ones near each other hopefully

Patttsy · 12/06/2006 15:52

So.... is Holmsley the site or any other contenders?

OP posts:
peachyClair · 12/06/2006 16:05

just started western meet up thread (any other included also)in the manner of Jarm.

Munz · 12/06/2006 16:36

hijack alert - if there's one in dorset can I come for a day trip if it's close to me?? :o

bresha · 15/06/2006 09:14

Any one else with ideas for good camp sites?

peachyClair · 15/06/2006 10:03

bresha · 15/06/2006 11:51

Janbo25 · 17/06/2006 20:50

bresha · 19/06/2006 12:53
