MN Camping Meet Up!!

Patttsy · 05/06/2006 16:24

Now, it is just a suggestion, following the lines of UKCampsite meet ups.

I am really good at making suggestions, no good at the fine details, if someone/anyone thinks it is a good idea we could if you are all in agreement try and go somewhere for next year (forward planning!!) Or the weekend before school starts in Sep 2006?

What do you all think?

(Don't all rush at once...I know my threads are sooo popularWink)

OP posts:
bresha · 03/07/2006 12:55

that would work for me Patttsy
it wont be 2 cold

Patttsy · 04/07/2006 09:37

So May half term.

So far our campsite venues are New Forest or Bracelands. Has anyone got anywhere else that might be good for a weekend camping and socialising?

And I've not had anyone contribute re:special handshake/greeting! (We need to recognise fellow MNers).

How about "How YOU doing?", like Joey in Friends

(I am only losing my tiny mindIt's the weather, I must be dehydrated)

OP posts:
Patttsy · 04/07/2006 15:05

And it goes quiet again on the Camping threads!

(We know you've gone camping)

Could we not skip the handshake and bond over bat kebabs? or link thumbs amnd flap fingers like a bat

fennel · 04/07/2006 19:47

didn't this thread start of as a camping plan for this summer not next?

one of the things i like about camping is that you don't have to plan very far ahead. I can't imagine next year yet.

rbj949703 · 04/07/2006 21:57

What about here .

I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to get a section of the camping field if we let them know how many are going. We've booked with only a week or two's notice for August and there's been plenty of space (nothing bad, just not really well know enough to get packed)

Patttsy · 05/07/2006 08:54

Yeah, but at least if we have a few places in mind and give everyone plenty of notice it gives people more chance of being able to come.

Linking thumbs and flapping arms sounds good to me "How YOU doing?"

meandthomas · 05/07/2006 09:53

Rpj, that place looks great

This summer needs more juggling then next. If I can put it on the calender for next year we can definitely come

Although it seems to far away...

fennel · 05/07/2006 09:56

Weymouth would be very good for us

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 05/07/2006 11:33

the only thing about east fleet is they don't take uge tents (their internet booking site rejected ours at 7 m X 7m)

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 05/07/2006 14:44

this place is lovely (went there last year), family friendly and in that general vicinity

bresha · 11/07/2006 10:43

Come one then! Lets decide on a place,
we went camping last weekend at Wight cliff bay on the isle of Wight, really nice but I suspect that would be 2 far for everyone else
I vote new forest,
only because it not far for me but we can go any were, within reason
so have we decided on the may/June half term?
I know whts gona happen , il turn up at the camp site, go up to a random un expecting non mner mum and link my thumbs and start flapping my fingers like a bat and say how YOU doing, only to be completely embarrassed and spend the hole time hiding in the tent

HunieBunie · 11/07/2006 15:20

LOL at bresha

Right then New Forest, forestry commission campsite, end of May school holiday 2007, the weekend immediately after school ends, not the one before they go back IYKWIM.

this

Sites in the New Forest

Aldridge Hill, Hampshire
Holmsley, New Forest
Setthorns, New Forest
Roundhill, New Forest
Hollands Wood, New Forest
Denny Wood, New Forest
Matley Wood, New Forest
Ashurst, New Forest
Ocknell and Longbeech, New Forest

Note: we take advance bookings for 2 nights or more at all New Forest site except Hollands Wood and Ashurst where you can book in advance for 3 nights or more. You are welcome to arrive at a campsite without booking if you want to stay for less than this, subject to availability - but sites do get very busy, especially at peak times, so we would advise you to book.

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 11/07/2006 15:48

Given that we do the Forest thing in that half term anyway not a problem LOL

HunieBunie · 12/07/2006 14:16

Which one?

Holmsley is nice (1 vote)

Anyone else want to vote?

bresha · 12/07/2006 16:00

i vote Holmsley as well, looks nice
we going to all just turn up or are we going to phone and say that there will be a big group?

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 12/07/2006 16:36

I now someof them have group areas?

they are choose-your-own-pitch though, but it IS best to get there early as someone else'll nick all the pitches (last year loads of people went a day before and parked over the pitches they wanted, someone even asked us to move as they always had that spot. yes that's likely- whateva )

We'll go down on the Thursday before probably though (they get training days at school) so if it's arranged we can be he 'advance party' (if anyone fancies joining us for wine more than welcome.....)

KBear · 12/07/2006 16:41

The Kbears are up for Holmsley. I am so desperate to go camping now though...!

HunieBunie · 13/07/2006 09:17

This is going to be fun fun fun (I hope hope hope!)

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 16/07/2006 17:35

Just a thought, but we just got back from a site that had loads of favcillities and specialises in meet ups / get togethers. They have some lovely areas set aside, also good security, pre-booked pitches (we did have a few issues at Hollands Wood with 'whitsun regulars' getting there and amrking off other pitches with their cars, preventing anyone else setting up) and whilst they have entertainment, it's low key. And they also had an indoor playa rea and the most fab adventure park / play area I have ever seen. it's called Broadway House in Cheddar, I will do a link but the website ain't as great as the camp site.

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 16/07/2006 17:36

here

bresha · 21/07/2006 16:54

that sounds nice PeachyClair,
i don?t mind were we go really as long as its not to far
Come on lets make a decision on were to go!

sanchpanch · 21/07/2006 17:28

i would really like to come along, just me and dd1 who is 8 and dd2 who is 3

this would be my first camping as lone parent, so it would be good to meet up with others, if it is ok for me to join
