Thanks Funtimewincies. I too am wondering whether strapping kids to roof is an acceptable option Hmm

hi don't post in this section much but got back from norden on tues evening. go there every whitsun and it's really lovely but was freezing at night. no 4 is due in october and wondering if anyone can tell me what they think about trailers - we have a sharan and will lose the space in the back when the baby is born. Mainly I'm wondering what size, was eyeing them up all weekend. Also is it warmer at night with more blankets or thermals in bed??

captainpig · 03/06/2011 22:02

Just back today from Cuckoo Down Farm in Devon, stayed in a yurt, fab, fab, fab!!

needanewname · 03/06/2011 22:34

Went to Noongallas in Cornwall - I'd like to tell you all how fantastic it is but I'm afraid I can't otherwise you;d all book it and i wouldn't be able to go back again Grin

deste · 03/06/2011 23:21

We are sitting at home because we could not get booked in anywhere this weekend.

RantyMcRantpants · 03/06/2011 23:41

That is a shame Deste.

We got back about an hour ago :)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/06/2011 07:54

Just got back from a week at Chateau de Les Eaux in Normandy, recommended by MNers, lovely site and weather was brilliant. Only downside was seasickness each way on the ferry Hmm

TheHappyCamper · 04/06/2011 18:03

We just got back from our week at Deers Glade in Norfolk. It was absolutely fab! It does help that the weather was glorious, and it was a brilliant site if anyone else is thinking about going. We had some lovely day trips to Cromer, Wroxham barns and Houghton Hall. It was a bit nippy on a night but we had a fire (and extra sleeping bags) Grin

overthemill · 04/06/2011 19:24

just back from 2 nights (should have been longer...) at Breck Farm in Norfolk. Wonderful. Will go back, maybe for our summer holiday.

manitz know nothing about trailers but keeping warm is my best subject! I wear thermal t shirt and thermal leggings from M&S in bed in UK in all except boiling weather. I also take our duvet and put a towel under the sheet on top of air bed. The duvet gets tucked under my feet and just under me so it doesn't go over the edge and I am soooo cozy I never want to get out. I love my bed Grin

Grockle · 04/06/2011 20:59

We just got back from Norfolk & it was fab. I LOVE all the sky.

I know nothing if trailers.

5ofus, I'm about to book
Mendip heights for a weekend at the end of the month - I haven't been there for years - how was it?

We're been to those yurts Captainpig - they are brilliant arent they? t was a lovely, peaceful holiday - and the DSes loved the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Grandpa's shed loo!

fearnelinen · 04/06/2011 23:52

We've just come home from C&C site in Chipping Norton. Great town, some lovely geocaches to do nearby too.
Site was a bit manky though...on the surface twas beautiful, but the slight smell of sewage got too much in the end Hmm

Funtimewincies · 05/06/2011 17:24

Just back from Conwy Touring Park, nice family-friendly site. Weather was glorious but rained just before we needed to take the tent down, grrrr.

We are family camping virgins no more Grin!

zanz1bar · 05/06/2011 17:35

Just back from Dorset, Norden farm.
Fantastic site, all levels of comfort with Mil at the b&b, my parents in the caravan, friends in tents and the best heated dog shower ever! Very useful after our springer rubbed in dead shark on the beach.

trickle how on earth do you cope with the pressure of all the tourists in Dorset. Corfe castle was heaving all week?

zanz1bar · 05/06/2011 17:36

Meant to spell Grockle

5ofus · 05/06/2011 17:51

Grockle - 'twas good. Washing Facilities a little dated but beautifully clean. No fancy dog washes though! We felt rather out numbered by the caravans but that's just the luck of the draw. Site mgrs were very friendly, shop was well stocked and there's a farm shop down the road too. Small play area was enough to keep them happy for a few mins at a time.

Sadly though my over riding memory will be of me and my other half taking our tent down in the pouring rain whilst smug caravanners waved at us from their warm dry caravans. Friendly club my arse Grin

fivegomadindorset · 05/06/2011 17:53

Zanz1bar you suck it up and get on with it. I am just over the hill from Corfe

Grockle · 05/06/2011 17:56

Tourists are a pain, especially when they clog the roads and you just want to do your shopping! But I don't live in a tiny village so that helps and I guess it's the price you pay for living somewhere lovely!

I've never seen a dog wash! Thanks for the info on Mendip Heights. Any pub recommendations in the village? It'll be just me and DS(5) so I thought I'd treat him to dinner.

Nothing for about a mile from the site Grockle so we stayed on site in the evenings. Not proper camping though as we had Chinese one night from a place in Wells.

Grockle · 05/06/2011 18:49

Ok, thanks. We always used to walk into the village for a drink in the evenings. I remember them having little doors in the floor, fromwhere pot-holers would appear!

overthemill - might have seen you on friday night then, as we were there too. Which field were you in?

battherat · 05/06/2011 20:39

Sorry to be a ratty-come-lately to the thread. We've been to Longhills Campsite in Mickleton, Cotswolds. Was mighty fine although a few too many rats near the bins. No joke. DS got to feed lambs and play with dogs and sheep all day so went down a treat. I've put a showy-offy piccie of the new Bell on my profile. I love it so much.
