Love the Bell Tent. I am not yet converted. I don't know what the advantage of them is over other tents... apart from the cool factor.

sherlockholmes we were near the gate by the road, in the campfire field. where were you?

battherat · 05/06/2011 21:27

For me it's about the space and general aesthetic quality of it internally. It just feels nice. There's no feeling like it when you wake up in the morning with the high ceiling, sloping sides and general roominess. DH was a tremendous sceptic but is now a real convert. He has had loads of tents in his time and he agrees that there's nothing like a bell.

We were in that field too but sort of in the middle, next to a group of teenage boys who had about 10 cars between them. Love the campfires but have had to wash all our coats today as they absolutely reek of bonfire smoke!

overthemill · 06/06/2011 10:51

aha, we saw two cars of teenage boys arrive saturday morning and were so pleased we were off! My dd says to tell you I was the embarrassing mum who shouted at her daughter far too much...and we had the chocolate labradoodle who was an escapologist

who were you? were you with the mini village of families??

needanewname · 06/06/2011 13:06

Advantage iof a bell tent -
quick and easy to errect (and put down again)
not boiling hot in the warm weather
warmer at night (though not much to be fair)
smells nicer
lovely feel to it (as battherat says)

My DH also didn;t want one, but I nagged him into submission converted him in the end!

SherlockHolmes · 06/06/2011 13:45

overthemill sorry, didn't hear any shouty mums at all other than me Grin. No, the mini-village was a bit futher over. We were just with another couple and their DD. Hope you enjoyed Norfolk; we only live about 20 miles from Breck Farm so go there once a year to meet up with friends (and drink lots of wine).

loved it, we are frequent visitors staying out of season in a cottage but never camped! not sure why not but we will be back. absolutely lovely. we each thought it was heaven.

overthemill, thanks for the tips. have been reading on here and think we need more stuff under us as we sleep on an air bed and apparently it doesnt warm up. will also try thermals but had to keep getting up for loo which was freezing. zanz1bar did you enjoy the nocturnal guitar player? very jealous of those who live near corfe, such a beautiful place...

zanz1bar · 06/06/2011 20:55

That was my dad!
Well maybe, he did take his guitar along but was usually asleep by sunset, main field.
