Cobbs are fab!. We've ahd ours a few eyars now, and we are quite fickle so it must be LOL. first time of use we made a roast beef dinner with yorkies and veg on a picnic bench in pembrokeshire.

have fun!

BlueCollie · 20/02/2011 20:39

I was tempted to chuck the roast beef on it today. It's not right to be this excited Grin

Cor, what lovely generous friends you have.

Ignore DB. She is insanely envious of us Cobb owners and our supreme camp oven portability.

You'll love it, it's fab.

DuplicitousBitch · 20/02/2011 20:44

i was just about to post 'where is slubber'. i thought her cobb alarm should have alerted her to this.

SlubberdeVelcro · 20/02/2011 20:51

Cobb with spinning blue light a -top spinning wildly in the corner mrs

DuplicitousBitch · 20/02/2011 20:52

so glad camping is hotting up again, tis the only topic worth its salt atm

SlubberdeVelcro · 20/02/2011 20:53

BlueCollie there is to be an upcoming Cobb-Off comp this season. You have to cook something extremely poncey and unlikely to be found on a campsite to enter. I'm doing a pavlova. Seth is doing a souffle. Extra points if you make it on a campsite.

Cadac owners welcome.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 20/02/2011 20:54

woo hoo!

have you fuel? are you going to do a Live Cobb Thread the first time you light it?

SlubberdeVelcro · 20/02/2011 20:54

Me too DB.

me too.

MisSalLaneous · 20/02/2011 20:54

Oh wow, I like your friends.

DuplicitousBitch · 20/02/2011 20:56

cobb off sounds exciting and fairly rude

SlubberdeVelcro · 20/02/2011 21:00

Yeah

We are all dead edgy here with our ovens

You could make some scones DB.
(have I got that right about you and the scones)

BlueCollie · 20/02/2011 21:21

A competition FAB. My DH never cooked before he met me and now I can't stop him. SO we will have to come up with something for the comp now. Hopefully going camping in April and that will be it's first outing. I will be filming of course and I intend to sat there with wine while DH cooks something up.
DH in Afghan at moment so I have to hang on until he gets home in April before I use it. I may not last till then as I am 'chomping at the bit' so to speak.
My friends bought it for me because I had read on here about Cobbs and had put that I wanted one on my facebook status. He then looked what one was and wanted one too but felt bad that I couldn't afford one and that he only knew about them because of me. So he bought me one and his girlfriend didn't mind...now that is a true friend.

no, i don't make scones, dh is the scone meister in this house. also making scones while camping would be daft. i shall prepare sushi

SlubberdeVelcro · 20/02/2011 21:51

BlueCollie a true friend indeed.

You need to do a roast chicken in it before you do your first camp, just to make sure it works (it will work as there is nothing to break but this will be your excuse).

DB, sushi on the cadac, eh? How will that work then? It ticks the poncey food box though.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 20/02/2011 21:53

Oh that's so sweet BlueCollie. What lovely people.
Are you going to cook them up a Cobb feast to thank them?

MisSalLaneous · 20/02/2011 21:53

DB, you make sushi when camping?? Deary me, I am clearly a disgrace to the Cadac brigade. I smell of smoke and eat out of paper plates that I promptly burn in the fire after dinner. Blush

BlueCollie · 20/02/2011 22:16

Oh don't tempt me to use the Cobb before DH comes home....I even have a chicken in the freezer!

I may master the art of Cobbing before I offer them up a feast.

I am loving DB's camping sushi idea. For proper pointlessness you could incorporate a foraged ingredient, such a wild garlic, or rustle up your own sushi rolling mat from a bundle of twigs held together with the fibres from stinging nettle stems.

ChickFlit · 21/02/2011 13:34

I'm very envious, what lovely friends. I may try your tactic and put it on my FB status and see if any of my friends take the hint. But I did that with a Kindle and still ended up buying it myself - another absolute camping necessity.

Still I've got a couple of months till the first camping trip in April so maybe time to save up.

DeOilyCart · 21/02/2011 15:13

oooh, I want a Cobb.
But the accessories are very expensive - do you really need the frying pan etc? Or can you improvise?

SlubberdeVelcro · 21/02/2011 15:51

Oi Seth! You are giving her helpful hints...isn't wild horseradish terribly easy to find and not unlike wasabi though?

DeOily you need the big wok pan doobery. It's the most used bit of Cobb apparatus we have.

DeOilyCart · 21/02/2011 15:57

Thanks Slubberdevelcro.

Would it be possible to make a steamed pudding in a cobb? Or a birthday cake? I suppose it might taste a bit odd.
