My calorie goal is 1800 and I'm counting down to a holiday in mid June that I want to feel amazing for.

I thought I'd start this thread for anyone else who wants motivation and support for adhering to a calorie goal.

I'm going to screenshot MyFitnessPal and post at the end of each day but you can share your daily cals in any way you wish.

Let's start by sharing our daily calorie goal ☺️

Yesterday I went over by 2/300kcal at least. I didn't weigh any of the food I had when I got home late and was sooo hungry.

Oops

sunshine2go · 04/05/2024 22:27

So yesterday I celebrated loosing 2lbs.. today I have a takeaway and a big share of chocolate!

Anyone still on this thread??

I’ve had a couple of days off as it’s been glorious sunny weather, Friday I had pizza and pudding, yesterday dh BBQ’d and I enjoyed that plus wine and a Nuii ice cream. Everything in moderation I guess. I do really want my stone award this week though so I am now getting properly back on plan with some good days. I’m going for a long run this morning, and will need to head to a supermarket once I’ve meal planned for the week.

Mynewnameis · 05/05/2024 07:53

I struggled in the sunshine yesterday and did have a couple of drinks. And going to a concer tonight. The long weekend is tough.
But I've been calories counting two weeks and am 4lbs down and delighted with that.

sunshine2go · 06/05/2024 23:37

Epic fail over this BH weekendBlush

Tomorrow is a new day!

sunshine2go · 07/05/2024 22:07

Mediocre day today. Last week thinking I was back on it, now I'm just giving it half effort but I really do want to loose this weight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/05/2024 06:29

My bank holiday weekend has put on 4lbs!! It’s all water (mostly) from eating rubbish and drinking, but even so.i weigh in on Thursday usually so i need to get my head back in the game, although there is a Saturday weigh in I could go to which would give me a couple of extra days to claw it back. There’s no point cutting my calories super low as it’s really counter productive to me, I just end up eating more, but I am going to cut my carbs a lot and increase my protein and veg.
I go on holiday in 2.5 weeks so I really want a boost before then.

Hi all, can I join? I’m a healthy bmi of 24.6 but have a fat % of 36.5 so officially skinny fat!! So want to reduce body fat to 25% (I know that’s a massive jump) and probs reduce weight to 55kg (currently 64kg on a very small frame / 5ft and I do look like I need to lose some weight).

my maintenance calories is 1682, I am aiming for 1200 on average across the week. I stopped going to the gym and need to start again and I also need to start upping step count to minimum of 10k.

anyone in a similar boat with a high fat percentage and decent bmi? I’ve always thought I was fine so it’s been a bit of a wake up call!!! I also have high cholesterol and do like my junk food so not that surprising really

Yeh sure join. It has gone quiet on here though.

Last week I started exercising and counting calories again. 2lb down this week! I have a couple of stone to loose.

I'll put an accountability post later!

We can do this!

@EalingLucy I’m not sure your BMI calculation is right- not according to the calculators… at 5ft and 64kg you’d be overweight and have a BMI of 27.3

sunshine2go · 20/05/2024 22:38

1400 calorie ✅
10k steps ✅
Excercise ❌
Protien 13%. Oops!

Gosh, that’s good of you to point that out 😄

5ft 3 and 1300 calories a day, all unprocessed. 10,000 steps, plus a 30 minute youtube workout with weights.

I’ve been at this 8 weeks now after putting on about a stone thanks to long term steroids. I think I’m now in the low 9 stone bracket, but dont weigh myself, just go by how my clothes fit. Waist currently 27 inch down from 28.5 and trying to get back to where I was prior to weight gain, 26 inch. Slow and steady seems to be working.

It was a bit blunt wasn’t it? I was trying to type out a bit more but was interrupted and posted it without editing later as I had intended to.

I wasn’t trying to be an arse- it’s just that below 25 BMI is actually quite a bit different to 27.3 and so could change TDEE calculations etc… and explain the higher fat % too.

FWIW your plan sounds great- especially managing unprocessed stuff! And it sounds like it’s working too- any good tips for non UPF breakfasts?

See? I’m not an arse- honest!!

It was a typo, I am 5ft 4…

EalingLucy · 22/05/2024 21:58

@Pootlepins i forgive you. Altho how did you know? Are you a similar height or just a bmi obsessive? ;)

I’ve been doing badly - exhausted at the mo and eating far too many biscuits. Also not been counting calories or so many steps. Oops.

tillyandmilly · 22/05/2024 22:06

I am on 1,688 calories - sedentary- also fasting as well! Losing 1lb each week slowly and surely- gave about 3 stone to lose 🙃

Not me, I I don’t really care what your bmi is 😄. I thought @fourelementary was very brave to point it out, even though they have since apologised 😜

I realise now my post sounds quite gloaty- believe me it’s been far from that easy and even tonight I’m trying not to raid the kitchen!

Breakfast… there’s always porridge with seeds and nuts and some berries. Eggs and guac on toast, Greek yogurt with chia seeds and fruit or if I’m in a rush or want something easy, a smoothie with avocado, lime, mint, celery, cucumber, chia linseed, yogurt and fruit of choice - anything really, I just chuck it all in!

Choice4567 · 24/05/2024 07:58

I’m using my fitness pal. Having 1,200 calories a day- but I’m not sure if that’s right! I’m losing about 1lb a week (was hoping for a bit more!)

There isn’t any explanation as to what their activity levels mean. I do 10,000 steps a day and am doing couch to 5k. Am I lightly active? Active?

Am I having too many calories? Or not enough?!

A bit of an obsessive. I am currently a BMI 26.3
and somewhat deflated to work out how much that means I still have to lose to get into the “healthy” range.
I am afraid to admit I have been trying to stick to 1200 which at 5ft 8 and BMI 26.3 is not nearly
enough… and I know it’s unhealthy and not sustainable. But I so wanted to be in the healthy range for my holiday next week… dumb, I know.

Got a borrowed dog this weekend so my steps are up, and I’m trying to focus a bit less on calories and eat healthily and see how that works. Which is why I was admiring @Pootlepins and her no UPF eating!!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/05/2024 06:52

@Choice4567 i always find the same, I have a sedentary job but I am pretty active - I always do 10k steps (often 15-18k) as I was the dog twice a day, I run 3-4 times a week, I do a workout 3 times a week…. But I always put sedentary into the calorie calculations and use that as my baseline, and if I have a really active day I might allow a bit more on top. I use a garmin watch for tracking and my average calorie burn over the last 12 months is a pretty consistent 1950-2000 a day so I take that as pretty accurate. I aim for 1400 a day knowing I will always have a few extra because I’m a very sloppy calorie counter!

Choice4567 · 25/05/2024 22:33

Thanks @thenewaveragebear1983. I’m similar in that I know I’m not brilliant at accurately counting everything so I always want some left in case!

My Apple Watch is great for accurately counting exercise but it doesn’t seem to count calorie burn in a day so I don’t really know how much I’m doing. I’ll stick at 1,200 target to be safe!

when I successfully lost weight a few years back - I would never add the calories / eat more calories because I worked out. I would always stick to 1200 and I would loose 1lb a week. And can I add I was constantly working out 5 x a week- 1 hour sessions minimum & 10k steps every single day minimum.
