My calorie goal is 1800 and I'm counting down to a holiday in mid June that I want to feel amazing for.

I thought I'd start this thread for anyone else who wants motivation and support for adhering to a calorie goal.

I'm going to screenshot MyFitnessPal and post at the end of each day but you can share your daily cals in any way you wish.

Let's start by sharing our daily calorie goal ☺️

I find it so hard to know what calories I’m supposed to have. I go by my Garmin now, it gives me a basic rate which is Bmr based on my height and weight, then any active calories are added on top. It gives me an average over a week or over a year, my average weekly calories is usually around 1900-2000 a day, so I try to stick to 1500 to lose 1lb a week. It is hard though. On the days I run I could easily eat way over.

I did a 10 week online PT course and took some photos when I started. That was around 12 weeks ago, and I retake them every few weeks to do a side by side comparison. Even though I’m feeling pretty deflated about it, I can definitely see the change, especially on my tummy, and my arms are looking much slimmer now. It’s hard to make peace with the fact that no matter how much weight I lose, I will always now have loose, post pregnancy, yo-yo weight loss skin and I am really trying not to be too hard on myself.

sparklealways · 26/04/2024 06:44

I'm going to hit 2000 today and ease myself back down slowly as I've been on 2300 last week.

Better to work myself down gradually I think. Also going to run later!

AndAllOurYesterdays · 26/04/2024 07:26

I do 1200-1400 which works but I find very boring. I need to get about 10lb off as none of my clothes fit and I feel so uncomfortable.

whiteroseredrose · 26/04/2024 08:23

I should be aiming for 3 stone weight loss but at nearly 60 I'd be happy with 2.

I'm going away with friends in mid May so am on 1250 a day.

I'm in a VERY sedentary job, literally attached to my laptop from 07.30-17.15 so am also working on a few thousand steps a day too.

All is fine if I've prepped overnight oats, home made soup, crumpets etc, but if DH eats any I'm floundering.

sparklealways · 26/04/2024 11:38

How's everyone's day going?

So far I'm on track with a 400 cal breaky

snowlady4 · 26/04/2024 11:43

I reached my target weight on around 1500 calories a day with doing about an hours walk each day. Started at new year, wasn't totally consistent but currently at my target.. aimed for 1lb a week.
Keep going.. you'll get there!

Softpebbles · 26/04/2024 14:12

I tend to calorie count and did a program last year with a PT. They calculated my calories for my height and weight and for steady weight loss. Any exercise I did I could add the calories burned on as I was already on lower calories for weight loss the exercise was a bonus. For those exercising lots and having low calories and then binging and going way over you perhaps need to eat more, to begin with I learnt I was not eating enough lunch calories which is why I always picked in the afternoon.

For me it was about habit changes that were sustainable and being more aware and mindful of better habits. A really simple one was drinking more water - I’m terrible for letting that one slide.

sunshine2go · 26/04/2024 15:11

I am doing fine today but it's the evening snacking which gets me! I will go for a walk later to get some steps in. The toddler wouldn't have their afternoon nap so the planned workout went out the window!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/04/2024 16:01

@Softpebbles this is where I struggle. I’m averaging a total calorie useage of around 2000 a day which includes exercise, but I do a sedentary job. I cut calories to about 1500 but then I crash out and end up bingeing. But if I had eg 1600/1700 a day I wouldn’t lose any weight either! So I don’t know how many calories to have for weight loss. Most pts say eat more but most other advice is you need calorie deficit so I really get stuck, then i eventually fall off the diet or I plateau, or I have a few good losses where I lose a bit, then one mad weekend where I put it all back on (usually coinciding with totm when all my self control goes out the window)

I need a better solution really. I’m doing more hiit and strength training to build some muscle to hopefully increase my metabolism a bit.

sparklealways · 26/04/2024 19:38

Okay the day of eating is done and I finished on 2065. 65 over. I'm okay with that.

Run and gym tomorrow morning 👊🏼 👊🏼 👊🏼

Softpebbles · 26/04/2024 19:49

@thenewaveragebear1983 what about leaving the scales for 2/3 weeks and measuring. Muscle weighs more. And to be fair weight fluctuates so much from day to day. Sort of trust the process?

For meals with carbs, pasta and rice just have half the amount of carbs you’d usually have and replace the other half with veg? I found it quite good to write down how many different fruits, veg nuts and seeds I eat within a set period of time. Day/week.

I’ve just had a period of ill health and can’t exercise like I usually would and I’m having to cut back to maintain. 🤯

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/04/2024 20:02

@Softpebbles I think that’s a good idea tbh, I’m a slave to my scales and I know it’s a really messed up mindset to weigh myself more when I know I’m not sticking to my diet, like a punishment to myself. I might hide them in the loft!
I actually don’t eat a lot of carbs in my planned meals. I rarely eat pasta, rice or noodles, and I only really eat potato on Sunday roasts. I don’t plan bread into meals (eg sandwiches). However, if I fall
off the wagon I gorge on bread and sugary stuff, so I am by no means low carbing at the moment. I need to stand myself a bit, I can’t believe the amount of rubbish I have eaten the last few days.

I’m doing my long run tomorrow so I guess we can write today off as carb loading! I’m just going to get my head down, draw a line under this week and hide the scales!

I'm in my second week of my fitness pal tracking and I lost 4 lb last week and will weigh again on Monday morning.

I was 12st 1lb and last Sunday was 11st 11lb

I am short at 5 ft 2

Up until
Three years ago my highest not preganant weight was 9st 10lb but I started a new medication and have Graves' disease so have no thyroid so the weight has gone on but it takes longer to get off.

I'm tracking macros aswell.

I try and stick to upto 1300 a day but the last two days have been long days work wise so I've struggled to hit 1100

If I had anymore than that I won't lose weight as my metabolism runs slower due to the meds I am on

Im drinking 2 litre of water every single day and this week I've noticed my skins a lot clearer and I def have more energy.

Im looking forward to getting bak down to between 9 st 10 and 10 stone as I will feel so much better and less sluggish

Looking forward to being able to enjoy all the different clothes again instead of living in baggy shapeless black stuff and leggins

sunshine2go · 26/04/2024 21:54

If anyone is stuck on how many calories to consume then you can find online calculators e.g healthline.com has one.

I have been fairly good. Although may have ruined it with 2 slices of homemade flap jacks. I don't know the calories content without going into loads of detail.

However the rest of the day I was loads under my calories goal so hoping it's ok!

sunshine2go · 26/04/2024 21:55

@dothehokeycokey

We have similar metrics and goals! We got this! Smile

sparklealways · 27/04/2024 05:27

Morning everyone!

Up early starting the day with gym!

Partner wants a takeaway tonight so going to choose wisely and make sure I am still within my goal

sparklealways · 27/04/2024 12:30

How's everyone getting on so far??

sparklealways · 27/04/2024 21:47

Day ended and not exactly sure how many calls I had as we got a takeaway but definitely didn't over do it and not feeling overly full.

Plus did a run and gym.

A positive day.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/04/2024 22:11

@sparklealways i’ve had a much better start to the day. I went for a 10km hilly run and had a protein shake, salad for lunch, and steak and broccoli for dinner. I’ve ended up on 1450 cals, 130g protein.

Mynewnameis · 28/04/2024 17:46

I started a week ago. My goal is a deficit each day rather than a fixed amount. I log my dinner early then know if I have to cut it back or exercise a bit more.

Softpebbles · 28/04/2024 21:27

@sparklealways Saturday sounds positive.
@thenewaveragebear1983 sounds lovely food.

i shall start logging tomorrow to get myself back into good habits 😊

TeenLifeMum · 28/04/2024 22:52

Hi 👋 can I join? I need all the motivation I can get!

I’m on 1200-1400 calories and I’m finding it okay (with a couple of self sabotage days). I’ve got some really filling lunches that I enjoy and I’m eating 3 meals a day plus an evening snack. Halo individually wrapped ice creams for 90 calories are amazing!

10lbs down I’m now 11st 13lbs and determined not to creep back into the 12s! Does anyone else find breaking the stone barrier to drop to the next level is the hardest pound to lose?!

Perzival · 29/04/2024 06:52

Hi everyone, I think I need to join here too.
@TeenLifeMum yes! I'm in a similar spot to you and just shovering at the stone mark. It's as though the scales or my body just knows and won't drop down that one or two pounds to below the stone.

Reachforthestars00 · 29/04/2024 07:10

I use Nutracheck app. My daily target is now a measly 1200, but I eat back my exercise, so actually have 1400-1600 per day. Sometimes I go way over if we have a meal out. It's working though, I've lost 2+ stone and only have about 5lb to my target weight. I am looking forward to being on a maintenance plan though. Hopefully not too long to go now.

sunshine2go · 29/04/2024 08:05
