Hi everyone

I have just started a diet (needs must), but I am ravenous and need to stock up on 100 calorie (or under) snacks in my next big shop.

What are your favourite snacks

I only have prawn cocktail quavers (84 calories), and coconut vanilla greek style yoghurt (71 calories) so far!

Kvarg yogurt. it’s high protein and I think about 83 cals. Asda do 4 for £3 or something. I keep seeing that Aldi have similar protein puddings but I haven’t tried them.
A Cadbury’s Freddo is 95 calories
Curly wurly is 118
A hard boiled egg, full of protein so filling and low cal.
Proper corn multipacks of popcorn are 44 calories per pack.

try increasing your fibre. It fills you up so, with lean protein, you may not need to snack much at all.

Marmite rice cakes (61cals for 2)

Chesneyhawkes1 · 04/12/2022 19:36

Birthday cake fibre one bars!

Jackiecirca1987 · 04/12/2022 19:36

Thanks for the ideas! This is just what I need - I have never even heard of Kvarg yoghurt and didn't know dairylea dunkers still existed!

I lead a pretty chaotic life food wise - and eat on the go/late at night/always skipped breakfast. I've started having weetabix for breakfast around 7am... and although It's good for me and it makes my mornings better boy am I hungry through the day. I'll look out for high fibre foods to add in!

Thanks again - My list is getting much bigger!

Fox’s mini party rings - 86 kcal a bag

MamaSharkington · 04/12/2022 19:39

Tbh I love an exante protein shake for breakfast when calorie counting.

But I don't snack when counting, it's my nemesis!

A 2 finger KitKat is 99 calories...

greenacrylicpaint · 04/12/2022 19:46

a hard boiled egg.

Welshy26 · 04/12/2022 19:47

Calbee Harvest Snaps are delicious.
Also, fat free greek yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.

catwithflowers · 04/12/2022 20:05

So many of these things are not real food 🙈. Fox's Party Rings? Quavers? It's just sugar and chemicals. Surely veg sticks and a yoghurt dip would be better. Or roasted veg, chicken breast? Good luck OP and hope you find some healthy and tasty low cal snacks 😊

Jackiecirca1987 · 04/12/2022 20:14

Thanks everyone! My diet has been shocking and I am lucky that I only have to look at cutting back now and not years ago. I didn't even know fibre was filling (I knew it was good for you and just thought protein was filling - and never looked beyond that!). Anyway , it's December and a hard month to do this, but I need to stick with this for now, controlling calories and managing portion sizes, it's all one step at a time!

Haha - catwithflowers! The problem is I love sugar and chemicals 😂(or at least I am in some way so used to them that I get a headache when I don't have them! - which I am having now! (sugar withdrawal is no joke).

It's just a lighthearted thread, and I am really pleased that I have some responses to help me through. I have been looking at the calories in my normal snacks and they are eyewatering!

Thanks again everyone!

Do you know about Jamie Oliver packet grains? They are amazing when dieting cos they are so filling and are hot in 2mins. Perfect for the chaotic dieter.

May favourite are the Purple packet (daal) and the green packet (chickpeas) both are under 300cals for a lunch. Be careful though cos some flavours are quite a bit higher.

Buildingthefuture · 04/12/2022 20:18

Wispa Mousse. So good if you need a chocolate fix and less than 100 calories.

neverendinglauaundry · 04/12/2022 20:32

Something slightly more calories than 100, but that contains fruit/veg & a protein works best for me:
Apple slices & a spoon of peanut butter or small chunk of cheese. (About 150)

Any kind of soft fruit (blueberries, raspberries, peaches) with some plain yoghurt. (100-150 depending on fruit & type of yoghurt)

Celery sticks(or other crudités) & cream cheese

Basically what I'd give a well looked after toddler, but minus the carb element.

Cookerhood · 04/12/2022 20:34

A few nuts - very filling & healthy. Three Brazil nuts are about 90 calories.

PermanentTemporary · 04/12/2022 20:36

Banana
25g porridge oats done in the microwave with water
Apple
1 slice of packet bread (i like making toast and then dipping it into coffee)
A couple of big carrots made into sticks - about 60cal and very filling

Gingerkittykat · 04/12/2022 20:38

A mini pepperami is 44 cal and I have it with a seriously strong cheddar square which is 41 cals.
