Hi everyone

I have just started a diet (needs must), but I am ravenous and need to stock up on 100 calorie (or under) snacks in my next big shop.

What are your favourite snacks

I only have prawn cocktail quavers (84 calories), and coconut vanilla greek style yoghurt (71 calories) so far!

Chocolate-covered digestive biscuit. McVities are 83 cals each.

Jackiecirca1987 · 04/12/2022 20:52

Oh wow, I'm so glad I asked. I'm sitting with my notebook making a list and I don't think I am the only one who will benefit - my family will be too!

Soreen malt loaf individuals. 90 calories and 0.2 fat. Fills you up too
If you crave something sweet, pink and whites. Only 50 calories

Coxspurplepippin · 04/12/2022 20:59

Pickled gherkins Grin
A couple of Jaffa cakes
Small bunch of grapes and a slice of mature cheddar
Dollop of Greek yoghurt and some stewed fruit.

minticecreamisjustok · 04/12/2022 21:02

Fresh soup, I like tomato soup, for 300ml is under 90cals and bread sticks 25cals each
I have this for lunch as it's so filling, I don't need to snack much.
Porridge oats in the morning. Half water half milk and honey
Smooze coconut ices 100cal
Water biscuits 35 cals each

For me when dieting it’s all about keeping the protein high and the sugar low. So forget the junk food, it doesn’t help. I really like things like a medjool date with a smidge of peanut butter (around 100kcal), or some high protein yogurt with berries, or some protein powder in 100 ml milk, topped up with water, or a chunk of cheese. Or I might make a quick egg fried rice for lunch. I do eat fruit but try to limit because it’s fairly high in sugar. If I need to snack then mini cucumbers are good.

Skinny Whip bars for a chocolate hit. Cheetos for a cheesy crisp hit. Aldi individual mature cheddar portions. To be honest you can make anything under a hundred cals if you weigh it out. Bit of a faff but also not depriving yourself of anything. Oh and Curly Wurlies 😍

FannyFifer · 04/12/2022 21:08

Crackerbread, 19 calories each, with lightest Philadelphia.

SommerTen · 04/12/2022 21:15

An Alpen Light cereal bar 70 calories
A Babybel Light cheese 42 calories
A snack tin of Princes peaches 44 calories
8 almonds 100 calories

PureBlackVoid · 04/12/2022 21:16

Vanilla and blueberry rice cakes, about 35 cals each I think.

I love medjool dates, 1 is about 60 cals they are the closest replacement for cake I can find.

Jacketpotato65 · 04/12/2022 21:22

I go for a Freddo, or a Kitkat, otherwise crisps like Skips or Quavers are around 85kcal per bag.
Cheesestrings or babybels
A couple of pieces of chorizo/salami

Jacketpotato65 · 04/12/2022 21:23

Also iced gems if anybody remembers those..very low calorie!

PeloFondo · 04/12/2022 21:27

Flumps marshmallows (think they're 50 cals)

Not under 100 but Aldi protein chocolate mousse. It's 152 cals, 20g protein and a big portion (200g I think) and if you add raspberries its good too

caringcarer · 04/12/2022 21:41

Packet of quavers.

Lucienandjean · 04/12/2022 21:41

A Babybel or a mini portion of cheese.
A hard boiled egg
2 rollitos (ham wrapped round a bit of cheese
A big spoonful of full fat yogurt
Half a dozen raspberries and a spoonful of double cream
Peanut butter spread on a celery stick
A few nuts

All of these have a good amount of fat and will make you feel much fuller than 100 calories of biscuit, sugar or chocolate.

LaTangerina · 04/12/2022 21:51

Buy the 60 calorie per slice bread & have it toasted with a teaspoon of peanut butter.

Time40 · 04/12/2022 21:57

An apple.

Tunnocks caramel wafters are brilliant - rather over 100 cal (about 134 I think), but there's something weirdly satisfying about them - hits the spot in a way that other single biscuits just don't.

ODFOx · 04/12/2022 22:23

Celery with a tablespoon of quark with a good sprinkle of black pepper for dipping.

Oneofthosewsillydays · 04/12/2022 22:35

'All of these have a good amount of fat and will make you feel much fuller than 100 calories of biscuit, sugar or chocolate.'

Only sometimes you just need a chocolate treat, nothing else will do. 80 odd calories or what ever is a small price to pay especially if it scratches an itch and stops you eating far more calorific choices. It works for me a long with healthy snacks too and I've never had an issue.

BCBird · 04/12/2022 22:38

My advice is to eat protein for breakfast if u can or oats they will both keep you fuller for longer

Jackiecirca1987 · 05/12/2022 11:57

Thanks everyone, I have my list and a lot of ideas to get me through. Just finished my first week of dieting and I have done well, most of that is water probably but I feel as if I am on the right track and this thread is great for helping me sort the one thing that has made me struggle a lot! I have my list and I am going to try everything and refine what works for me.

I'm not going to lie - I would not have thought of 90% of the ideas on this thread!

Have a great day and thanks again!

Dried apple. About 5 apple rings comes in at around 80 calories. Have them with a drink and they swell up and are surprisingly satisfying.

Lotsofthings · 05/12/2022 13:15

Miso soup.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 05/12/2022 19:50

Check out toddler snacks - bear snacks and kiddylicious. Low in calories, some nutrition and quite tasty!

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 05/12/2022 19:52

Also, if you like dark chocolate it's richer, full of antioxidants, less sugary and you need less to satisfy a craving....apparently! Sometimes only dairy milk will do it for me though.
