So I'd put on some weight before having my daughter and then added to that during and following pregnancy. My baby is one now so there's really no excuse anymore! 🤣
I've read around various diets etc and have decided that using my fitness pal to track calories and be mindful of my carb intake is probably the best way forward for me!

Please let me know a bit about what you're doing and how far you have to go!

Let's do this!

@Divebar2021

Morning... I don’t officially weigh in until Monday but I’ve lost some so far ( it’s week 2 for me). I’ve carried on with my C25K after a pause for snow and have now started with some resistance bands. Still not done a HIIT but I’m also off for a week too so hopefully I can work out a routine.

I tend to do a lot of one pot cooking with a fair amount of veg and legumes thrown in. Last week I did a chicken curry with some chicken thighs and added onion, cauliflower, green beans and tinned tomatoes etc and then added Greek yoghurt rather than coconut milk. For a quick dinner ( and quite low effort ) I cook turkey meatballs and then get a fresh pasta sauce ( Tom & basil) and ramp it up with peppers, courgettes and mushrooms, add a bit of boullion / stock and sprinkle feta cheese when serving. My DD & DH have it with whole meal spaghetti and I have courgetti. I also did sausage, lentil, & celeriac casserole, veggie chilli and a chicken, chorizo and bean casserole. All of those came in at 300 calories or under for my portion.

That's great, thank you 😊👍

My weight still isn't shifting for some reason. Have started weighing out portions and logging them on MFP, just in case I was eating more calories than I thought, but according to the app, I have a clear deficit. I'm not losing motivation yet, though - hoping it's some kind of plateau and that the results will appear on the scales eventually!

Divebar2021 · 15/02/2021 16:29

Plateaus are such a pain. I’ve just weighed in for week 2 and have lost 2lbs. I was hoping for 3lb but I did not have a great weekend ( although it did involve Portuguese custard tarts so not all bad). Total weight loss 7lbs.

JackieWeaverhastheauthority · 15/02/2021 17:57

Weighed this morning and was delighted to see a 5lb 2 loss!

poppym12 · 16/02/2021 10:42

Hello, can I join please? I began using mfp on 1st Jan with 5stone to lose. I'm sticking to 1200 calories per day, some days a bit less, some days a bit over. I'm limited exercise wise due to disability.
I've lost 16lb so far.

MsMarple · 17/02/2021 08:23

Hey, can I join you? I have exactly 5 stone to lose to edge into normal bmi, and I’m starting today. I’ve got the free version of the lose it app and (after 2 months of deskbound inactivity) I’m going to start by aiming for a ten minute brisk walk before work every day, and see how that goes.

2018anewstart · 17/02/2021 15:31

I know I am a bit late to this party but can I join too. Weighed today and just pipped fifteen stone. The heaviest I've ever been! Pre lockdown I was hovering around 13stone. Going to go calories counting because everything else gives me too much rein to eat more. Not sure what my calories should be? Going to make sure I get my 10000 steps in a day exercise wise to begin with which I have been doing the last couple of weeks. Going to weigh a week Friday next.

2018anewstart · 17/02/2021 15:39

Reading through this thread tgere hacmve been some fantastic weight losses since the 1st of January...this has inspired me! Also someone mentioned mediation that they listen to...can you let me know what it is?

Divebar2021 · 17/02/2021 21:35

@2018anewstart

I use a British app which is Neutra Check Calorie Counter. It asks you a number of questions ( how much you wish to lose a week), weight etc and suggests a daily calorie count. Mine is 1200 a day and my starting weight was the same as yours. You can set days to be more if necessary and it will change the rest of the weeks allocation to maintain the same. You can configure it with a Fitbit ( or whatever) too. Good luck 🤞

clto2021 · 18/02/2021 18:14

@2018anewstart well done for taking the first step. I put on about the same amount as you over the last year so I feel your pain! I use myfitnesspal which is good for monitoring weight and calories. I haven't had the best week (well Monday and Tuesday to be precise!) stopped tracking and allowed myself to "cheat". Things always go a bit iffy when it's half term! I think it's the lack of routine and lockdown boredom! And it's especially bad when pancake day is involved! 🥞😂 Anyway back on track so hoping I can still manage a small loss this week 🤞 hope everyone else is doing well? Xxx

clto2021 · 22/02/2021 08:10

February has been a bit slower but just broken through the stone and a half mark after yo-yoing around it for the last few weeks!! 1 stone 7.5lbs lost 😊 hope everyone else is doing well? Xx

AlexaShutUp · 22/02/2021 08:40

My plateau seems to have finally shifted, and I've lost 2.1kg since I last posted on 14th Feb. Really pleased with that!

My BMI is now bang on 35, whereas it used to be 43. Will hopefully get it under 35 by next week, and then the next target will be to get below 30. Smile Long way to go before that though!

Well done @clto2021 on your one and a half stone loss - that's brilliant!

clto2021 · 22/02/2021 08:47

That's brilliant @AlexaShutUp! Well done 👍 I don't tend to think of my loss in terms of BMI but that's a really good way to way to focus your efforts. I'm going to have a look at mine now because the main thing is that we are all healthier at the end of this process 😊 Are you feeling the difference health wise?

clto2021 · 22/02/2021 08:49

Bmi started 37.3 currently 33.4. Next aim is to get out of the obese category.

AlexaShutUp · 22/02/2021 09:02

Next aim is to get out of the obese category

Exactly! I find it quite motivating to focus on BMI for some reason. Maybe because it feels more directly related to my health than an arbitrary number on the scales.

I do definitely feel better for having lost what I've lost so far, but I think that's the result of exercising more as well as just the weight loss per se. I can walk up a really steep hill now without having to stop, and I ran for 20mins without stopping on c25k last week - aiming for 25 mins later today. Those tangible things make me feel like it's really making a difference, even though there is still a long way to go before I reach a healthy weight.

clto2021 · 22/02/2021 10:33

That's fantastic 😊 and a very sensible way of looking at things. Will take a leaf out of your book x

2018anewstart · 22/02/2021 12:25

Well done @clto2021. It is lovely feeling when you break through a halfstone barrier. @AlexaShutUp that is a fantastic weightloss and a good way to look at it with the bmi.

I've decided Friday is my weighday as it mentally sets me up better for weekend. However a sneaky step on scales this morning and I've gone under the 15stone! 14.5 stone I'm coming to get you!

2018anewstart · 22/02/2021 12:32

Thanks will check that app out @divebar2021.

GothamGirl1970 · 22/02/2021 12:33

I’m in

clto2021 · 22/02/2021 12:39

That's great @2018anewstart 😊 well done. Welcome @GothamGirl1970 x

GothamGirl1970 · 22/02/2021 13:15

I’m aiming for 2 lbs a week. Also I will weigh tomorrow morning. It’s going to be 15s something. Awful

Divebar2021 · 22/02/2021 14:16

Hey afternoon. I had a good week - another 3lbs gone. My total so far is 10lbs over 3 weeks but it’s still early days so plenty of time for boredom to set in. I actually find the BMI a bit demoralising so I’m concentrating on my first target which was a 10% drop from my starting weight. I was initially due to hit that by April 19th but I’m a little ahead of the game so will hopefully get there sooner than that.

clto2021 · 22/02/2021 15:42

Well done @Divebar2021😊 great progress 👍 keep going x

KrankySchwester · 24/02/2021 13:47

Hi may I join too? I started February weighing 15.5 stone (making me almost as wide as I am tall, not a good look!) and am now down to 14.10 so only 4stone3lb to go. I’m using Noom to help me lose weight which has worked so far but today I’m finding it hard.

Divebar2021 · 25/02/2021 06:45

@KrankySchwester

Can I ask what Noom actually is/does. I’ve seen it advertised and I know it’s supposed to help with the psychological aspects of why we overeat but I still don’t know what it does.
