So I'd put on some weight before having my daughter and then added to that during and following pregnancy. My baby is one now so there's really no excuse anymore! 🤣
I've read around various diets etc and have decided that using my fitness pal to track calories and be mindful of my carb intake is probably the best way forward for me!

Please let me know a bit about what you're doing and how far you have to go!

Let's do this!

Welcome @boomboom1234 and @@mrsbyers!

@RedPandaMama, I share your frustration about the weight not coming off, but I learned last year that it will move eventually if you just keep at it. I've noticed that my menstrual cycle definitely plays a part in this, so it makes sense that your body might need some time to adapt to the change.

I just finished my first run of C25K week 4. It was hard but my fitness is definitely improving!

clto2021 · 05/02/2021 18:42

Does anyone else have those days where you just want to eat everything in sight? I have been really committed to staying within my calorie allowance since the end of December but these last 2 days I'm really starting to crave food. I don't know if it's the cold weather, possibly that period is due or that I'm just sick of restricting myself. I haven't gone crazy today (had a cereal bar, small packet of crisps and a yogurt on top of meals when I don't usually snack!) but I have allowed myself to go over my calories. In comparison to old eating habits this isn't the end of the world but I don't want to start going down a slippery slope. I've lost count of the number of times that I have started really well and then lost motivation. I have got to stick at it. Not sure where I'm going with this but could just murder a massive stodgy dinner or a load of buttery toast today!

Glitterblue · 08/02/2021 13:19

Please may I join you? I've been wanting to lose weight for years. I did slimming World when DD was a baby and lost 3 stone, but I've gained it all back and more and I'm so annoyed with myself. I absolutely hate the way I look, and now my hips and thighs are in constant pain, which I have a suspicion is due to the extra weight I'm carrying.

I've decided to try calorie counting and I'm starting today.

RedPandaMama · 08/02/2021 14:47

Checking in everyone Smile

Of course @Glitterblue please do join!

@clto2021 I'm the exact same. I've eaten everything in sight this weekend... Then came on my period Envy sigh!!!

Back on it this week properly.
Focusing on diet this week and snacking less, then next week starting incorporating exercise. I have a friend who is a personal trainer who is doing a march challenge so I've signed up for that too.

PolarnOPirate · 08/02/2021 15:27

Been lurking, can I join?

Last time I weighed myself I was around 16 Stone (probably a year or so ago). I’m finally starting to feel a bit thinner.

For me it is absolutely not a case of ‘eat less, move more’. Since Nov I’ve been seeing a dietician who agrees my food is great but my behaviours around food are disordered. Lots of people would then say ‘see! So you do eat too much!’. But if I remove food, my anxiety sky rockets, and basically my life falls apart. So I can’t just eat less. I needed to address my anxiety before I could eat less. It is deep rooted in my childhood for me so a big issue. So I’m on anti anxiety meds, have learnt other methods from my amazing dietician, have been doing meditations as I fall asleep which is woo but I genuinely feel is helping. I’m no longer thinking about food and worrying about food all the time.

I was snacking at transitions too, so come in from the house - have a tea and discover you’ve mindlessly shoved in some grapes. Settle the kids down in front of the tv, pop into the kitchen without realising and oops I’ve eaten some almonds.

I do at least 30 mins exercise a day and do 16:8, but have been doing that for a while.

Anyway just get fed up with the eat less move more reductive shite so maybe my experience might be helpful. Still got loads of lose!

clto2021 · 08/02/2021 15:35

@RedPandaMama yeah, the same! Period was the culprit! 🙄 Makes me feel starving! Have managed to stay fairly on track but weight loss has definitely slowed a bit this week. Welcome to all the newcomers x

shreddednips · 08/02/2021 18:18

Late to the party but can I join please? I need to lose 5 stone to achieve a healthy BMI, instead of losing the baby weight I've actually put more on Confused

Well done to all of you for losing weight so far!

AlexaShutUp · 08/02/2021 18:43

Welcome @Glitterblue, @PolarnOPirate and @shreddednips. Good to have you all on board.

@clto2021, I think we all have those days. (I think I have rather a lot of them Blush)

I'm a bit discouraged today as the snow got in the way of me doing my c25k run today, but I did some aerobics and went for a walk instead. Still doing the beginners' 30 day shred too, and managing to stick to it, so I'm feeling quite positive on the exercise front.

Eating is not bad either, sticking to 16:8 on weekdays, eating lots of fruit and veg, increasing protein, reducing carbs (though not actually low carbing) and trying to limit sugar and processed food as much as possible.

Weight is still moving very slowly, but it's going in the right direction. My main goal this month is to get my bmi below 35!

How is everyone else getting on?

Divebar2021 · 08/02/2021 18:47

I’ve just seen this thread but I started calorie counting last Monday... my starting weight was 15stone 1 and my weigh in today I’d lost 5 lbs. I’m using Calorie Counter App which is British which means the majority of products I’ve inputted have been on there .... it’s easy to use. I’m aiming for 1200 calories a day but went a little over at the weekend. I’m doing 16:8 and reducing my carbs... not low carbing though. I started C25K last week too and I’m feeling guilty for not running today but it’s really icy with some snow so I didn’t feel very confident. I have walked for an hour though so not totally lost. I’m really looking forward to moving from a size 18 to a size 16 and getting into my smaller clothes. I’m not sure how easy it will be to do the whole 5 stone though as I haven’t been 10 stone for years. I’m aiming for 13 stone 10 which is 10% off so I’m going to start with that. Good luck for everyone.

Divebar2021 · 08/02/2021 19:05

@AlexaShutUp

Can I ask about the 30 day shred and how you’re accessing it. I used a have a DVD years ago but no more I don’t think.

AlexaShutUp · 08/02/2021 19:11

I am using the dvd, @Divebar2021. Bought it several years ago, managed to do the whole 30 days on the beginners' shred last year and had intended to progress to the full shred after a short break, but it didn't happen, so I'm back on beginners again. Blush

Divebar2021 · 08/02/2021 19:43

I’ve got “booty bands “ and a 30 day booty challenge so I might start that. 😂 ( I have a fat ass as my DD has told me.)

PolarnOPirate · 08/02/2021 20:20

30 Day Shred is on amazon prime video too :)

clto2021 · 09/02/2021 07:53

Thanksb@PolarnOPirate, I have Prime so might give it a go! Really need to up my exercise and it's so cold outside!

MischiefManager · 09/02/2021 08:11

Can I join too please? I started two days ago with 2 1/2 stone to lose. I’m calorie counting with my fitness pal too and need to try and get my steps up to 10000 consistently. I weight daily to keep me motivated and am already showing -4.6lb which I know won’t continue but is a great motivator to get me started! I’m not great at sticking to things otherwise!

RubyWooRed · 10/02/2021 19:53

Can I join Smile
This could be the motivation I need
My BMI has creeped up to 27 over this last lockdown
Sitting at least a stone over my ideal weight
Ideally would like to get my BMI back to 24 so back in normal weight range.
Current weight 10 stone 3
Really heavy for my height ( in petite range ) Sad
I actually look chubby and have fat rolls under my bra and back fat etc for the first time in my life Sad

Do we check in daily or weekly ?

I’m just going to cut out the crap and try to limit carbs a bit , get out daily and the biggest thing , cut out the wine .

AlexaShutUp · 12/02/2021 13:42

How is everyone doing? My weight is stubbornly refusing to budge but I am losing inches, which is some consolation. I'm hoping that the weight will come off eventually!

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 12/02/2021 13:44

yes please, I've lost 9 stone but the last three is being a bugger. I'm 60. I've gone vegan as I know I put on weight quickly when I eat meat and dairy. That could be just exclusive to me, everyones body works differently.
I've bought a pair of walking boots and I'm out there every day tramping up hills. I hate it but needs must.
Could do with support too.

RubyWooRed · 12/02/2021 15:03

I done my first online workout yesterday
Felt great after doing it

I think because I’m 40 now I feel like I’m holding weight more , I’m not eating massively over what I ate a year ago when I was lighter but I think my actual metabolism is slowing down along with being more sedentary over last year ( no walking to school etc )

Really hoping the spring gives me more incentive to be out and about and if DC are back to school I’ll have more time to sort myself out too.

clto2021 · 12/02/2021 15:26

Wow, 9 stone! That is amazing well done!
clto2021 · 12/02/2021 15:28

Hi everyone and welcome to all the newcomers. I'm still on track 😊 2lbs down this week and nearly at the stone and a half mark. Trying to set mini targets rather than looking at what's left to go! I'm on half term now (work at a school) so determined to up the exercise this week. Hope everyone else is doing okay x

clto2021 · 12/02/2021 16:25

Has anyone got any suggestions for quick, easy, family friendly, healthy meals? Getting a bit sick of the same old things but can't be bothered with cooking anything fussy after work!

Divebar2021 · 13/02/2021 09:12

Morning... I don’t officially weigh in until Monday but I’ve lost some so far ( it’s week 2 for me). I’ve carried on with my C25K after a pause for snow and have now started with some resistance bands. Still not done a HIIT but I’m also off for a week too so hopefully I can work out a routine.

I tend to do a lot of one pot cooking with a fair amount of veg and legumes thrown in. Last week I did a chicken curry with some chicken thighs and added onion, cauliflower, green beans and tinned tomatoes etc and then added Greek yoghurt rather than coconut milk. For a quick dinner ( and quite low effort ) I cook turkey meatballs and then get a fresh pasta sauce ( Tom & basil) and ramp it up with peppers, courgettes and mushrooms, add a bit of boullion / stock and sprinkle feta cheese when serving. My DD & DH have it with whole meal spaghetti and I have courgetti. I also did sausage, lentil, & celeriac casserole, veggie chilli and a chicken, chorizo and bean casserole. All of those came in at 300 calories or under for my portion.

JackieWeaverhastheauthority · 13/02/2021 09:26

May I join you?
Always been on the chubby side, I remember feeling like "the fat one" in infants.
Just had a type 2 diabetes diagnosis, which was expected due to family history, but still a bit upsetting. Weighed in at 107kg at the nurses office. Not my highest weight but obviously not good on my 5'4 frame. I do carry weight well though, skinny legs and big boobs can mask a lot!
I'm cutting low on carbs, upping the protein and fibre.

Jevo3 · 13/02/2021 09:31

Hi can I join please. So here I am looking around while munching on chocolate digestives lol. So I've done BMI calc and I'm at 37.6 so first of all I need to lose 3st 6lbs to get into overweight band. I've downloaded My Fitness Pal. I've added the chocolate biscuits and I'm ready to start. I'll update next week with any losses. Heres to a good week.
Weight today 17st 2lb. Omg.
