bit "out there" this one - but would anyone consider donating breast milk for my friend who has terminal cancer?

Really hope this doesn't offend anyone but she is only 37, has 4 and 2 yr old ds's and has stage 4 cancer. She is trying the raw food diet and everything she can to try to hold the cancer where it is and get as much time with her boys as possible.
We've read research about the curing powers of breast milk and in the US it seems it's possible to buy breast milk on the internet. Haven't found any similar UK sites.
It occurred to me it was worth asking mumsnetters if they had any spare breast milk??
thanks

deepest sympathy to your friend and her family and i hope she finds a doner... i've heard the same miracle stories about BM and cancer and i hope it works for her

weegiemum · 27/11/2009 19:18

Wish I could but it's 4 years since I bf!!!

I would to help, but its not possible.

Stage 4 is nasty, for your poor friend. I hope that things go as well as possible for her.

comewhinewithme · 27/11/2009 19:18

I would donate sorry for your friends bad news .

Disenchanted3 · 27/11/2009 19:18

So sorry to hear about your friend I cannot help as not BFing but would if I could.

comewhinewithme · 27/11/2009 19:19

I am in Sheffield if you want me to help.

curiositykilledhaskittens · 27/11/2009 19:20

I might be able to in a few months. Am feeding twins currently but they are only 3 weeks and I have a 3 year old and four year old too so don't fancy my chances having time or spare milk atm. Would definitely be able to when DTs are not feeding once an hour anymore though!

deaconblue · 27/11/2009 19:21

thanks everyone. Where are you based comewhine withme? Have no idea how we would go about transporting any milk, just thought would post and see what came up

sorry should have put that in the OP. We are in Peterborough.
Btw I finished feeding dd in June, do you reckon I would have any chance of relactating??

comewhinewithme · 27/11/2009 19:24

I am in Sheffield not sure either how you could get it to your friend but more than happy to help if I can.

arolf · 27/11/2009 19:26

I could potentially - think I'm near you from looking at your profile (just south of cambridge)
I haven't got any expressed at the mo, but could express a wee bit - depends how much/how frequently you want it!

deaconblue · 27/11/2009 19:26

thanks so much, will try and work out a solution and hope someone else appears on this thread with a clue how we could go about it. Mumsnetters are wonderful, I told my friend I was certain someone would help but didn't expect so many kind responses so quickly

I am still b/feeding my 14 month old DD. I am in Plymouth & am willing to donate if at all useful. Hoping you gets lots of offers of help. Lots of luck to you both x

curiositykilledhaskittens · 27/11/2009 19:27

shopping - perhaps... you could try taking some goats rue and pumping... I guess you'd be best to find someone who lives and works in Peterborough... not sure how you'd transport breastmilk...

sybilfaulty · 27/11/2009 19:28

So sorry for your friend.

I have donated to St Thomas's SCBU in past -would gladly donate to your friend. Sm feeding my 12m old and base in London. Is that any help?

thanks arolf, that's amazing. I realise now I've started my thread without thinking through the practicalities such as how much and how often but I think the answer is whatever anyone could spare would be wonderful. Have just phoned her and she's gobsmacked and says thank you so much to everyone who's replied

arolf · 27/11/2009 19:29

starlight - no, used to, why?

spiderlight · 27/11/2009 19:30

I'm in Cardiff. Would gladly donate if I can (but am on medication that's safe to breastfeed my son with but you might need to check that it's not contraindicated for your friend)
