OP posts:
Twiga · 06/05/2005 14:15

Yes and am so far unimpressed - just the attitude a mum-to-be like me who is thinking about breast-feeding needs broadcast

norash40 · 06/05/2005 14:19

watching doctors what are thry talking about?

yoyo · 06/05/2005 14:19

There's another thread on this.

A waste of a perfect opportunity to discuss BF. I'm sure my DH doesn't look at a woman BF and only see her breast!

sweetkitty · 06/05/2005 14:19

just finished basically they were commenting on the article that the woman flew all those miles to BF her 1 year old and then said in the artical it said it's natural to BF a child up to the age of 7 which of course drew gasps of horror from the audience.

Then the pointed faced one Carol something said "I know it's natural etc but what gets me is these earth mothers that take there babies to Starbucks to breasfeed them, I don't want to see it" the Nolan one who was sitting with her huge mammaries thrust out then said something about them not being for babies and being sexual. Fiona Phillips piped up that she had BF but never in public. The general consensus amongst these 4 women was that it was natural but should be hidden away. Only Lucy Jo Hudson (Corrie's Katy) said it wouldn't bother her feeding in public but she would do it discreetly not whip one out.

The Carol one has never had children doesn't she know that we don't go to Starbucks to feed our babies but to actually get out the house like normal people and if our baby is hungry we will feed it whilst we are there.

The whole thing disgusted me I'm thinking of writing into the programme now!

I am watching it now

norash40 · 06/05/2005 14:22

missed it

Twiga · 06/05/2005 14:25

Found the whole thing very sad, am going to have my first baby in Aug and have watched three good friends get on well with breast-feeding and being very positive about it - never found any of them to be anything but descrete. It's a choice I'm hoping to make myself and don't see the problem with bf in public - love the way it seemed to be fine for us to have our breasts viewed as sexual objects but how dare we use them for their very obvious purpose. Found the whole chat very shallow and uninformed.

Twiga · 06/05/2005 14:27

Sweetkitty, not sure of the address - sure it will be on screen again soon, but you could just email the prog directly while it's still on air.

sweetkitty · 06/05/2005 14:28

am already there e-mailing as we speak

[email protected]

Twiga · 06/05/2005 14:30

Good for you, might send one in myself - not going to comment too much on what was said as missed some but will certainly thank them for their biggoted opinions which will only serve to raise the profile of bf women in a negative manner.

Juniperdewdrop · 06/05/2005 14:30

Those comments sound disgusting sweetkitty

I didn't see it but will email anyway. What's infuriating me more is thinking of all the new mums who'll be at home watching this drivel.

yoyo · 06/05/2005 14:33

Twiga - good luck with BF and don't be embarrassed to do it in public. It is remarkably easy to be discrete.

Juniperdewdrop · 06/05/2005 14:36

I've sent one. I've queried the intelligence of their presenters in it.

Caligula · 06/05/2005 14:37

I've just sent one.

Twiga · 06/05/2005 14:39

have emailed

sweetkitty · 06/05/2005 14:41

just sent mine as well i'm still so can't believe the comments were made by 4 intelligent (?) women in 2005

OP posts:
Aragon · 06/05/2005 14:41

Have e-mailed too. Told them that "Loose Women" should be renamed "Hopelessly Un-informed Women"

sweetkitty · 06/05/2005 14:45

my e-mail came back has anyone elses?

OP posts:
Twiga · 06/05/2005 14:46

Thanks Yoyo, hope I'm up to the challenge come Aug!

Still feeling really annoyed what a stupid programme. I know I've no experience as a first time mum-to-be and I realise it's a contentious issue but just couldn't believe the rubbish coming from my screen. I know that bf isn't without it's problems and is by no means always an easy option for folk what with sore nips and the rest but the last mums need is then to be st up by stupid debates like that one to possible get additional hassle when in public from ignorant people

juniperdewdrop · 06/05/2005 14:46

No mine hasn't yet. Wonder why it did SK?

Twiga · 06/05/2005 14:48

Mine seems ot have gone off ok, no sign of it being returned...........ummmmm?

sweetkitty · 06/05/2005 14:51

probably too many e-mail being sent at once

will try again

OP posts:
marthamoo · 06/05/2005 14:51

And this is why we stick to CBeebies. I would have been throwing things at the TV (especially today as I am PMT Woman From Hell )

sweetkitty · 06/05/2005 14:53

Carol McGiffin is horrendous the only other time I watched it she had this artificial baby and she was to care for it needless to say she compeltely neglected it, she then said she would never want a child, maybe because she would have to breastfeed it?

OP posts:
handlemecarefully · 06/05/2005 15:13

Blimey, I'm almost so annoyed that I might have a third baby purely so that I can go and feed him / her in the audience at a Loosewomen show!

Seriously though, I am disgusted.
