Is anyone watching this???

OP posts:

I came in from work just in time to catch this little nugget. I don't think Colleen Nolan can claim to be an expert on breastfeeding as, by her own admission, she only did it for 5 weeks with her 3rd child.

I have breastfeed all 3 of mine. My bazookas were easily the same size as Miss Nolan's and I never had any problem in being discreet. I was never challenged about breastfeeding in public (maybe because I was so discreet few people were aware that I was doing it - which is what it is like for the vast majority of breastfeeding mothers) and I have breastfed in a vast range of places. I didn't go out intending to feed my baby, but, if I was out and the baby needed feeding, then I fed him. In my opinion, it was probably my toddlers who were more of a problem in public than the baby stuffed up my t-shirt.

bump

Fennel · 06/05/2005 18:38

HMC it's OK you can just restart feeding your 12 month old, that would be more effective for upsetting people .
i am sure there are threads on relactation....

motherinferior · 06/05/2005 18:49

Freckle - you're so right. The Inferiorettes are far more of a public liability charging round and bellowing than they were when stuffed up my jumper for a quick slurp.

hunkermunker · 06/05/2005 18:55

I've always hated this programme - it's just trash opinions from ignorant, bigoted shites, IMO.

At least they lived down to my expectations where breastfeeding was concerned.

astonished · 06/05/2005 19:21

Have sent an e-mail, come on people anyone else?

hunkermunker · 06/05/2005 19:48

I've emailed too

milward · 06/05/2005 20:02

rubbish programme - rubbish "opinions". Why can't women try to respect and help each other. Some women decide to bf & some women decide not to. Why the loose women panel can't respect other parenting ideas is beyond belief.

handlemecarefully · 06/05/2005 23:50

lol Fennel!

sassy · 07/05/2005 10:26

I swa this and was mightily unamused too. I was impressed by the girl from corrie as, despite being young and (presumably) not thinking about having a family, she was very underwhelmed by the discussion and appeared to view bfing in public as it ought to be viewed - completely natural and not worth getting hot under the collar abut; just one of those things. The others peed me off - esp that fiona thingummy from GMTV who has always struck me as reasonably sensible.
Will email them.

Stupid women. I hate people in Starbucks who just come there to read the bloody paper and take up the seats that are OBVIOUSLY more suitable for breastfeeding mothers like myself. Don't they have jobs to go to?
Actually, I have to admit, I do feel a bit like that! If it wasn't for mothers, our local Starbucks would go bust - pardon the pun. It's breastfeeding central and it makes for a lovely atmosphere.

What pisses me off the most reading this is that Starbucks (at least in Guildford) actually support b/f and publicise the fact locally as do Johm Lewis in Southampton. They even have a special conmfy area close to the changing rooms with lovely couches and it's not hidden but not in the front window - perfect.
Carol should just do what I do - I think she is a true tit, therefore... I do not watch her I look away. She should just do the bloody same.
I defy anyone to say they saw my nipple when I gave dd a few quick slurps when out, sure I'd rather be at home safely on my couch, but sadly you know, babies just cannot be told, but then Carol of course you'd find a screaming baby less irritating than one being fed would you.
No kids eh, really?

astonished · 07/05/2005 11:53

at Piffle. Invited them in my e-mail to apologise or to hold a more balanced and informed discussion on their show, Lockets is right bloody stupid bloody idiot women!

aloha · 07/05/2005 12:31

I do feel a bit sorry for her. She was dumped by Chris Evans...can you imagine anything more humiliating? evil

No response at all to my e-mail - obviously don't care about their ignorant and unbalanced programme.

handlemecarefully · 09/05/2005 09:30

No response to mine either. Anyone going to watch the show today to see if anything is said? I can't - am at work.

Windermere · 09/05/2005 09:39

That stupid women Carol said that when she goes into starbucks she does not wish to be confronted with women getting their boobs out to breastfeed. Well when I open a newspaper I don't want to be confronted by Carol flashing her boobs at the paparazzi which she has done on numerous occasions. Mixed up woman she really is.

compo · 09/05/2005 09:45

I've emailed too. I will watch at 2pm to see if anything is said - don't like to boost their ratings though!!!

handlemecarefully · 09/05/2005 10:10

Could you please update us after the show compo?

compo · 09/05/2005 12:31

It just said on This Morning when they were advertising the show that they are sorry but they wouldn't say what for. It must be for this. I wonder if they mention mumsnet. Will update more after 2pm.

handlemecarefully · 09/05/2005 14:00

Compo - don't forget to tune in!

yoyo · 09/05/2005 14:07

Can't watch any more of it but they are definitely not going to mention it.
