That's piss poor.

Perhaps we should start a new email campaign to them today suggesting that they have Belinda Phipps on to continue the Breastfeeding discussion since it's Breastfeeding awareness week

It's unbelievable - they are taling about a book called 'The Apologist' and getting people to phone in about what they are sorry for and still not mentioning it

Just watched this. Can't believe the Nolan woman is teh youngeset (assume she is ) she looks soooo matronly. Quite like Scottish woman - forgotten her name now. Think she would have been more sensible re teh bf thing - she just stood up for Jordan in that magnificent outfit! Fiona woman is a bit of a drip anyway I think.

I had to switch it off in frustration. Btw the email address is [email protected] The original address posted on here missed out the 1st full stop. I also hate the way the thin women take the mick out of Coleen Nolan al the time for being a larger lady

If anyone is interested you can make a complaint to Ofcom (the body who replaced the Broadcasting Standards commission) at this address:

make loose women accountable

The grounds for your complaint could be any of the following:
*whether an item was impartial
*whether an item was accurate
*whether an item was offensive or harmful

(I'm going to argue the latter).

Ofcom suggests you contact the broadcaster first and only go to them if your complaint is not addressed. Well I think that many of us have tried contacting the broadcaster but got no response haven't we...

Good Caligua - I think if we really want the culture to change in this country we did not stand up and be counted (rallying call emoticon)

Isnt it weird how every summer, women by the score will whip their boobs out on the beach to get a nice tan, and that is deemed pretty normal nowadays, but get one out to feed your kid and you could be offending someone???

I B/F on a nice comfy chair in the middle of Ikea, and got some very strange looks indeed!

BS, me too

Militant lactivists on This Morning tomorrow - I started a thread about it. Think they should be emailed too, don't you? Especially as Phillip Schofield remarked "Bitty" and Lorraine Kelly looked like breastfeeding a toddler was akin to anal sex in front of her mother.

beansprout · 09/05/2005 15:57

Philip Schofield is v slapable frankly. He should have stuck with his intellectual equal Gordon the Gopher and left us all in peace.

OK, said the following to Ofcom:

"Please note the following:

'UNICEF estimates that 1.5 million babies worldwide die each year because they are not breastfed. In England and Wales 29% of mothers do not breastfeed. Yet we know that breast is best for the health of mother and baby.
What we need is an environment where women of all ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds are comfortable with feeding their baby anywhere and at any time. To do this we need to create an atmosphere of support from friends, family, partners and health professionals. The more vocal this support the stronger the encouragement to new mothers to take up and carry on breastfeeding their infant.'

(from www.breastfeeding.nhs.uk/)

I was shocked by the disparaging treatment of women who breastfeed in public on LOOSE WOMEN today and feel it could do real harm to the progress towards the environment described above by the NHS. I believe that the coverage was offensive, biased and disparaging to women who breastfeed in public - a necessary act for those who care enough about their baby's and their own health to breastfeed and who also feel the need to step outside of their homes from time to time.'

(Any non-breastfeeders, please excuse the statement about caring about babies' health - I know you do too but we need to be emphatic here.)

Here is my complaint. Thought I'd share.

I am appalled at the way adult women can put forward such bigoted views about breastfeeding. There was no debate on the subject. Whether or not they agree with breastfeeding I do find it offensive that they should slam it so viciously. A woman's breasts are primarily for the feeding of her child. It is National Breastfeeding week. How many women do you think they have put off of breastfeeding their babies? There are many first time mums out there who will have been more than discouraged. I do think that there should be more reasoned debate and a lot less vitriol. Funny how Carol doesn't like to see breastfeeding, but is happy to "flash" her breasts at any passing photographer. To say I am appalled by the way the subject was "debated" is putting it incredibly mildly.

should've waited and plagarised your complaint Franch. Well said!

Thanks to the NHS for saying it for me really. Did you write to Loose Women or Ofcom? Or both?

I didn't see this today but quickly scanning this thread it sounds pretty awful and par for the course for 'Loose Women'. I don't like the programme, whenever I've seen it, and can't stand the presenters Kay Someone or other and Carol McGiffin (are they still in it?)

Well done for Emailing them re the BF. They seem to perpetuate a fashionable ladette, 'anything feminine/maternal is pathetic' stance which I find nausiating.

I have watched this programme before and that carol mcgiffin one has always struck me as a particularly unpleasant piece of work. She has said that she thinks it's ok to have affairs with married men,she speaks in a way that i consider to be almost mysoginistic on any number of subjects, and i seem to recall a discussion in which she stated that she had 'several' abortions and had no regrets about them at all.( sorry, i am very pro choice but her manner struck me as really distateful). We should not be surprised that she spouts such piffle about something so natural.
I really dislike her.

Sorry to resurect this thread but I finally got a reply to the email that I sent to the show following their ridiculus debate on breast-feeding. Needless to say the reply is equally as stupid considering the tone of the email sent:

"Hi
