See most recent posts. I hope I am wrong about this, as I feel sick that someone could troll in this way.

Followed link.

Think is appalling bad taste to make up story like that to emphasis a point. Grim.

coppertop · 10/01/2009 16:28

What a strange post.

(The one on the original thread. Not yours, Tiktok)

Why on earth would anyone make up something like that???

tiktok · 10/01/2009 16:29

Maybe she will remove it....

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 10/01/2009 16:31

so why start an entirely new thread about it? what purpose does that serve?

tiktok · 10/01/2009 16:35

Nancy: Because I was hoping to shame her into withdrawing and if she does I will withdraw mine and all trace of it will go.

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 10/01/2009 16:36

Fair enough

tiktok · 10/01/2009 16:45

Glad you agree.....I am actually genuinely upset about this, not sure why. I have never reported a post before as I don't like censorship, and will not report this one, either, as I just hope she removes it.

Maybe the reason for my reaction is that I felt so shocked for her and obviously, like anyone, I thought 'oh God, imagine that...poor woman....'

Then I got suspicious. It's almost as bad as that woman who invented the kid dying of cancer (was that on mumsnet?) .

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 10/01/2009 16:46

Have to say that i do actually think she was being sarcastic - and trying to make the point that FF mums are made to feel like they have to have a damn good reason not to BF.

Not defending her, horrible thing to say but I don't think she was stating a fact.

tiktok · 10/01/2009 16:50

Well, obviously she wasn't stating a fact. I don't understand your point, sorry - you mean she wasn't looking for attention (unlike mum of 'dying' kid)? Well, no, but I don't see what difference that makes. Sick. Sick. Sick.

Shock
firstontheway · 10/01/2009 16:54

Hmmmm.
I do agree it's a horrible horrible thing to say. But I wonder if she was trying to be sarcastic, making an off the cuff remark. It's not funny... at ALL... but I do think that very often when things are written over the internet, the tone can be misconstrued (sp?) very easily

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 10/01/2009 16:54

TBH, I read it as being sarcastic too. Still not a nice thing to say.

Nancy66 · 10/01/2009 16:55

Of course attention seeking is a part of it - which was why I questioned the wisdom of starting a whole new thread about it.

I meant I didn't read it and, for a minute, think it had happened to her - i just read it and thought 'stupid girl what an offensive way of trying to make a point.'

Missed the whole dying kid episode. It's the internet - a universal nutter magnet.

madwomanintheattic · 10/01/2009 16:56

i read it like nancy tbh - i didn't think jojo had been the victim of such an attack, but was just saying, 'is this the only reason that bf fanatics will accept' in desperation/ exasperation.

i'm a bit live and let live fwiw, bf'd 2 but couldn't bf no. 3 because she was tube fed. expressed for a while, but with 2 toddlers and a baby fresh out of scbu, the expressing was taking up way too much time. i did leave scbu with about 80 bottles of expressed frozen bm though, so it tided me over for a while lol.

so i guess i should have relied on the other topic - dd2 has a disability, so bf 'didn't work out. i could talk you through the whole story, but 'bf didn't work out' is probably all that the OP needed to know... i haven't read the rest of the thread btw, i'm sure there are similar stories...

27 · 10/01/2009 16:57

I read it as sarcasm too.
But I do know someone who told a very similar story about sexual assault, and was later proven wrong -she said that her uterus was removed as a result of the injuries. Massive sympathy (and a lot of people very upset) and then a few years later she had a baby.
So obviously some people do make things up.

CJMommy · 10/01/2009 16:57

Agree with Nancy66...it sounded like sarcasm to highlight a point. Do not condone this but the FF vs BF debates can always make the most gentle person spit bile and react in certain ways.

tiktok · 10/01/2009 16:59

OK - yes, I understand, she was being sarcastic, and possibly unthinking. If she's a nice person in RL, and this is just a weird aberration, she will remove her post (and I will remove my reference to it so no one will ever know what she said). Simple.

OP posts:
EBenes · 10/01/2009 17:00

Yes, I read it as sarcasm, too - because it wasn't the way someone who had suffered that would talk about it - I assumed it wasn't supposed to be literal. I can see that some people would find it unacceptably tasteless, but I don't think it's a deliberate attempt to take people in. Her anger in making the post seems real.

mrsruffallo · 10/01/2009 17:01

It was a sarcastic remark. It was in bad taste but you could have dealt with on the thread it was posted on.

tiktok · 10/01/2009 17:01

Now I feel like a gullible twat for believing her in the first place...so FFS, jojo, remove your post, you sicko

OP posts:
madwomanintheattic · 10/01/2009 17:05

nah. leave it there as a reminder to folk why not to start bf/ ff threads lol.

27 · 10/01/2009 17:06

She cant remove the post can she?

tumtumtetum · 10/01/2009 17:06

I didn't read that as sarcastic - but as something that had happened to her - which was really upsetting and awful. A lot of women on here have had some brutal things happen to them and I just don't think that it's something to make light of.

tiktok · 10/01/2009 17:08

27 - yes, I believe you can remove your own post or get mumsnet tech to do it on request.

tumtum - glad it's not just me who believed her (for a short time).

Just checked - you can highlight any post for removal by clicking on the ! icon and this reports it. No reason why you can't do it with your own.
