To all of these mums who are on their high horses about breastfeeding: I sincerely hope you're feeding your kids only the best organic foods, are SAHMs (cos you know they say that's best for kids too!), don't smoke, drink or swear nor pollute your childrens' environments with CFCs, and make huge efforts on the recycling front to ensure they've got a planet for the future. I also hope that you ate only the healthiest of food yourselves during your pregnancies and are continuing to be superb role models for your children. If that's the case you can preach to us poor impoverished, uneducated swine who didn't manage to breast feed. Alternatively you can shove your heads up your a with my compliments.

blossomhill · 14/11/2004 22:39

woops

Angeliz · 14/11/2004 22:41

How patronising is this thread?

Buka, the thread is about people who don't breast feed and yet we aren't allowed to express our opinions???!! Also, people have tried to explain, it's not just that we can't be arsed and actually, why the fuck are you so concerned? My dd is a happy, bright articulate 3 year old, the fact that i fed her formula hasn't taken away from all the love, care attention, affection i've shown her.

Beansmum, you must consider yourself some perfect little Saint of a mother to call people who bottlefeed stupid and ignorant and lazy. (And BTW, i'd much rather have a happy mam who loved me and did her best than a self riteous BREASTFEEDING bloody martyr. Do you really think you are SO perfect?)

I know you're not supposed to get personal on here but this thread really takes the biscuit!!!!
Honestly, get a grip

Angeliz · 14/11/2004 22:42

cabs..........that is the BEST post i've evr read

JoolsToo · 14/11/2004 22:43

Angeliz - we want to - right round their necks

wobblyknicks · 14/11/2004 22:43

Excellent post cab!!!

Angeliz · 14/11/2004 22:44

I know i'm not supposed to get personal on here but you all are, just haven't said OUR names thats all, (We the shamed ones who use our tits purely for the carnal side!!!)

If i get thrown off then it will be worth it to speak my mind for now as i've had it with all this self riteous "I am a great mummy as i'm an educated breastfeeder"

There IS alot more you know to being a mam!

Angeliz · 14/11/2004 22:45

LOL JoolsToo, if only at this point in time.

mieow · 14/11/2004 22:46

I thought this thread was about younger mums not bf, not whether we are or not better mums because of it. I think that many young mums chose not to bf because they are not very well informed, and the MW don't encourage the young mums to try. I did bf all my kids (had DS at 18, DD1 at 20, Dd2 at 21) but that was my choice and I decided to bf before they were born (though with Dd2 I wasn't going to bf but the special care baby unit made it easy for me to bf, and I had so much milk it made sense) I think this thread has blown out of proportion, and people are feeling the personal attacks, lets be friends again!!

mieow · 14/11/2004 22:48

I don't think anyone is a better mum if they bf or not, as long as the baby is happy

edam · 14/11/2004 22:51

To go way back to near the start of the thread, someone asked whether anyone knew a young, middle-class mum who breastfed? I do, my sister. Had dn at 21, kept going despite all the cracked nipple/ thrush /endless feeds stuff. Will have to ask her whether she thinks there's a class issue as she knows plenty of other young mums.
(by class issue, I mean middle-class mums having better access to information, advice and support NOT that working-class mums are stupid, OK?).

mieow · 14/11/2004 22:55

How do you define class??

JoolsToo · 14/11/2004 22:56

people who don't drop their aitches are posh
