I understand some people really can't bf but it amazes me how many people can't even be bothered to give it a go. And by give it a go I don't mean one day before you decide it's too hard.

fairydust · 14/11/2004 22:15

but does it honstly make us a bad mother for not giving it ago - me thinks not

nutcracker · 14/11/2004 22:16

PuffTheMagicDragon · 14/11/2004 22:16

I know mothers who breastfed that now treat their kids like crap, does the fact that they breastfed still make them better than me ??

Oh and they only breastfed because they didn't want to have to waste money on formula.

moomina · 14/11/2004 22:17

Just so we know who we should really be laying into...

buka · 14/11/2004 22:23

I agree beansmum, think that we need to think a little bit more about what is best for our babies and not what appeals most to our personal aesthetics.

Thought that people would be making interesting original points here, not reeling out the same old'whatever makes you happiest' line.
Unbelievable and a sign of the times.
In childcare as in everything else, the freedoms and choices of the individual are deemed more important than the wellbeing of a future generation.

As I said, do a bit of research. It will make your hair curl. Artificial feeding is a massive uncontrolled experiment being carried out on the children born in the latter half of the 20C and believe me the prognosis is not good.
Don't say you weren't warned......

Better go, ds needs a feed.
Sleep well won't you??!!

WideWebWitch · 14/11/2004 22:25

No no, Buka, you sleep well. Let that unnecessary and unhelpful comment about uncontrolled experiments be between you and your conscience.

fairydust · 14/11/2004 22:25

yes i wll bloody sleep well - thanks

blossomhill · 14/11/2004 22:26

buka - no doubt you will be following a strictly organic diet. No sweets or anything like that? You don't know what they've got in them do you?

MummyToSteven · 14/11/2004 22:27

well I'm going pretty strong for a bottlefed baby, and will sleep well tonight.

sweet dreams buka

wobblyknicks · 14/11/2004 22:28

buka - that's unbelieveably general and short sighted!! Am fuming too much to post most of what I'd like to say so will stick to one thing. If I'd refused to use formula my dd would have been hospitalised and been force-fed formula through a drip. As it was, I changed willingly, after trying to breastfeed for 5 weeks and dd was happy, I was happy - brill all round. And now she's a gorgeous healthy 16-month old, with a sane mummy - how is that wrong or bad for her???

blossomhill · 14/11/2004 22:28

BTW everyone - this is the first day Buka has posted!!!! Good night!!!

nutcracker · 14/11/2004 22:28

Me too MTS and several others i know of.

fairydust · 14/11/2004 22:29

blososm - probly the same person from earlier but is to ashmaed to use there real sign in

wobblyknicks · 14/11/2004 22:30

DD does have 3 heads, tentacles and a forked tongue but that couldn't be down to experimenting with formula could it??
