Thanks, Kathy! I aim to please!

bubblerock · 27/02/2007 16:25

"The guy in the coffee shop was clearly an insensitive and rude plonker.
However, a friend of mine expresses her milk into baby bottles exactly so as to avoid such an unpleasant situation.
Is this not a compromise?"

mammaduck · 27/02/2007 16:28

No no no bubblerock!

The reason people BF is because we don't want to bother expressing, sterilising, getting our babies confused with teats instead of nipples.

Its not the BFding mothers that should change. It's the total morons who need educating. FGS, bfding has been happening for millenia. Why are we suddenly getting so coy about it?

[anger]

If I'd overheard that bloke in the cafe I like to think I'd currently be in police custody for assault.

mammaduck · 27/02/2007 16:29

There, I'm so annoyed I buggered up my emoticons!

Let's try again!

BarryTook · 27/02/2007 17:45

aitch - paranoid moi thought the t*er referred to me

BarryTook · 27/02/2007 17:46

(tutter, that is)

Haribosmum · 27/02/2007 18:06

What a c**k! I'm really into my parents rights at the moment as well. Nearly floored a disabled woman the other day for parking in a parent and toddler carpark space. It really winds me up, she wasn't even THAT disabled! (And before anyone thinks I'm insensitive my Dads disabled and wouldn't dream of parking in a patent and toddler space)

Jillyadoodledoo · 27/02/2007 18:16

Do you have a hard hat haribosmum?

bubblerock · 27/02/2007 18:29

Is Yummymummy on MSE a MNetter?

OP posts:
Haribosmum · 27/02/2007 19:04

No hard hat but she nearly had a gobfull off me! Hubby held me back and then I huffed and puffed about it all the way home. I think even hubby would say something if someone tried to stop me breastfeeding in public. Not that I do a lot of it, not that confident yet.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 27/02/2007 19:05

OOh Haribosmum, that is a very contentious comment. So much so that Eeen me a normally outspoken person choose to keep my opinions on that to myself.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 27/02/2007 19:06

excuse rubbish grammar I'm all fugged up in the head with late pregnancy and too many children

airy · 27/02/2007 19:13

She wasn't that disabled?? really..how do you know!?

IntergalacticWalrus · 27/02/2007 19:14

Nice, Haribomum.

airy · 27/02/2007 19:16

Nope sorry, tried to sit on my hands but they worked themselves loose and I can't help it!!

How the hell can anyone think badly of a disabled person parking in a p+t space, really?? A parent with kids can park anywhere ffs, a disabled person usually can't get around all that well...hence the being disabled bit.

Ohhhhh see now I'm angry

IntergalacticWalrus · 27/02/2007 19:18

Oh, god. There was an endless thread about this the other week.

But I agree, airy that haribosmum is bang out of order.

There but for the Grace of God and all that.......

IntergalacticWalrus · 27/02/2007 19:20

To the OP, that blike on the forum sounds like a prize fuckwit.

I'm glad I'm a trappy cow, because if anyone said something of the sort to me, I'd have a go. But I can see how it would put many women off feeding in public which is a crying shame

Enid · 27/02/2007 19:34

god how weird to spend time posting on a money site

I mean, spending all this time on mumsnet is bad enough

bubblerock · 27/02/2007 19:45

Enid, it is a really useful site (although obviously not for breastfeeding mums), I don't tend to use it the same way that I use MN, I usually stick to the grabbit or shop till you drop boards which means I don't actually save money, I spend it!

noonar · 27/02/2007 19:53

dont y'all know, tits are for fondling not feeding!

bet those blokes dont object to fumbling in public. morons.

specialmagiclady · 27/02/2007 19:54

Sounds like the bloke had tourettes or something. If so, he's got an excuse. It's the other commentators that get my goat.

I have to admit to occasionally feeling embarassed when I see people BFing in public, even though when I was doing it to DS1 I wopped my tits out in all sorts of locations (including House of Lords!!)

But the embarassment I feel is MY problem and all i have to do to stop it is LOOK AWAY! I would defend a woman's right to BF in public to the death, even though I may not want to look at her great big veiny tits (which mine definitely were...)

tron · 27/02/2007 21:07

i was in morrisons cafe having a very naughty jam dough nut with my friend and our girls. there was a young girl with a toddler nd a new born. the newborn needed feeding so she started bf, she didn't flop ou her boob or anything but a family (all of who were eating chips and guzzling coke and didn't look the healthiest) started making comments about it being discusting. The girl was so upset she put brying newbie in pram and marched toddler out - she look ready to burst into tears.

i thought the family were horrible and just felt so sorry for the girl

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 28/02/2007 00:02

tutter/barry... pmsl - i immediately thought of you too. that's why i couldn't think what else it might have been. i was on the radio with barry cryer once. dithery and annoying. loved barry took though. [child of Radio 4]
