What do you mean by through the night? 7-7, 11-7 or any 8 hour stretch? Mine did 8hrs-feed-4hrs from 2 months to 4 months. Now he's waking every 2 hours Hmm

tinierclanger · 16/12/2010 13:02

14 months, but that's probably not what you wanted to hear, sorry! And he didn't routinely sleep through until he was 2.

C4ro · 16/12/2010 13:09

Loads of babies go backwards at 4 months regarding sleep. Too much going on in their heads unfortunately. My BF DD was from around 4-6 weeks going from 7-4(or 5) regularly with no cheaty dream feed. For the last 3 weeks or so (she's 19 weeks now) she wakes for a 10/11 pm feed and then again at 1/2ish and 2 hourly thereafter. It's pretty exhausting.

naturalbaby · 16/12/2010 13:10

depends. he slept a long stretch which i called sleeping through at around 7weeks but it didn't last long! around 8 or 9 months he could sleep through or go through the night without a feed but would still wake up most nights and shout for us to settle him again. he stopped doing that around 12months but still does it sometimes.

Ealingkate · 16/12/2010 13:12

PFB did 7-7 at around 12 weeks, I kept looking at my NCT friends and wondering why they looked so tired!! That was until I had DD2!

thisisyesterday · 16/12/2010 13:13

ds1 slept through around 5 or 6 months

ds2 slept through reliably at 2.5 years

ds3 has had a few week-long stretches of sleeping 7pm-5pm ish, but he usually regresses. he is 18 months

AppleAndBlackberry · 16/12/2010 13:20

DD did 10-7 from 9 weeks though she still woke up occasionally for a night feed until 9 months or so (maybe once a week)

EdgarAleNPie · 16/12/2010 13:23

6 weeks every time so far.

EauRudolph · 16/12/2010 13:26

2.2 yo DD slept through the night once a couple of months ago Grin

When she was younger I was given plenty of 'helpful' advice about early weaning, formula top-ups etc but there is no evidence that anything like that works. I think it is very dependent on your DC's personality.

PuraVida · 16/12/2010 13:27

Fairly consistently from about 8 weeks. Now 18 mths and still very good at sleeping!

Debs75 · 16/12/2010 13:31

DD1 from about 4-5 months we got a good 8 hour stretch.

DD2 27 months and still not sleeping through consistently. Stopped night feeding at 18m.

DD3 4 months - slept through at 10 weeks until she had her 2nd jabs last month. Has woken 2-3 times a night since.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/12/2010 13:32

I count sleeping through as them sleeping for approx 11+ hours, although technically that is not sleeping through.

ds1 - 12 weeks
ds2 - 7 months, he held onto the 4am feed for months.

BeehiveBaby · 16/12/2010 13:35

15months and 18months.

stickersarecurrency · 16/12/2010 13:38

DS did, a handful of times, around 2 years of age. Never since (he's now 3.5).

DD is 12 weeks and has done the odd 7hr stretch. I'm optimistic that she won't follow in her brother's footsteps!

WoTmania · 16/12/2010 14:47

Urm, DD is 21 months and still nurses through the night. At least I think she does; we cosleep and I have vague o her needing to swap sides during the night

Zimm · 16/12/2010 16:33

dd has been doing 7 hours since 8 weeks now does 10 hours followed by 2 at 18 weeks

Groovymoves · 16/12/2010 16:41

DS 6 weeks

DD 10.5 months

MayDayChild · 16/12/2010 16:50

DD 11 weeks 7 to 7 now 3 1/2 and still sleeps like a log. She never wakes at night - making potty training at night difficult. Guess you can't have it all ways!
DS now 6 months, more typical child at 10 wk he did 7-7 then at 4 months had huge regression and was hungry every 2 hours, back up to 3 night feeds. Began weaning 18 weeks which helped. I am hoping once gluten is introduced in few weeks he'll sleep better still.
Average night 7-3 then grumble moan sleep (his room not ours) feed at 5 sleep till 7.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2010 16:52

What do you mean by through the night?

Both mine started to sleep without waking up for a feed at some point in the night after they started solids.
Ds at about 9 months (bit still didn't manage more than 8 hrs)
dd at 8 months, she went 8-8. I had stopped breastfeeding by then, due to medical reasons.

mawbroon · 16/12/2010 16:57

7 months, he slept right through for a spell.

But it wasn't til he was 4.5 YRS that he regularly started sleeping all night.

Some of them are just like that.

Dozeyland · 16/12/2010 16:57

Thanks for your replies, what a variety! My DD is 7 weeks old now, and she feeds at roughly 11pm, then she wakes roughly at 4am then 8am. I'm classing that as lucky for me at the mo.

The tricky thing with us is that we are living in a living room at my rent's, so when she goes down at about 7/8pm it would be very hard for her to continue to sleep through to skip the 11pm feed as we are still up and about until about 11pm.... :(

Would love for her to be able to settle then have a good sleep instead of being interrupted by us being awake still...

But yeah she is roughly doing 11-4, then roughly 8am. give or take an hour (could be 4 hours, could be 5 ish)

I think its amazing how some babies can sleep through the night (ie: 7-7, 8-6 or something yet some wake 2hourly. )

HOW OFTEN DOES/DID YOUR BREASTFED BABY SLEEP/NAP/FEED DURING THE DAY?

I am trying to feed my DD roughly every 3 hours maybe 4 in the day so this fills her up, She is now feeding quicker so kind of like snack feeds. our day roughly goes...

7/8am feed
9/10am nap
12/1pm feed
alert time
3/4pm feed
nap
6/7ish feed
bath time with sometimes top up feed
11/11:30pm feed
BED
3/4/5am feed

then the next day..

OP posts:
Dozeyland · 16/12/2010 16:58

sorry - missed out a few more alert times, she has quite a few of those, some days she'll want to have lots of short naps but then be alert loads, or some days she will be sleepy then have less alert times. if that makes sense?

OP posts:
MoonUnitAlpha · 16/12/2010 17:04

Does she only want to feed every 3 or 4 hours in the day? My 18 weeker feeds every 2-3, at 7 weeks was more like every 2 hours!

HerBeatitude · 16/12/2010 17:06

DS breastfed 6 weeks
DD formula fed 9 weeks

I thnk it's down to luck, feeding method makes no dfference.

Dozeyland · 16/12/2010 17:08

Yahshe is roughly 3 hourly in the day, if im out she'll go for longer (4-5)?

I really dont get how such young babies can go through the night as their tummies are so tiny! amazing though how everyone is different. :)
