DD1 - did an 8hr stretch around 12 weeks
DS - now 26mths and just sleeping through!!
DD2 - only 9.5 weeks and doing 10 til 4

Restrainedrabbit · 16/12/2010 17:11

DD2 feeds every 2-3hrs during the day

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 16/12/2010 17:11

still waiting, gecko will be four in feb

kalo12 · 16/12/2010 17:11

never. he is nearly three now, stopped bf at 22 months. he still wakes up at least once every night and needs cuddling back to sleep.

he's really nice though

tinierclanger · 16/12/2010 17:21

Believe me, there is no relationship between naps, feeds etc and sleeping through. What you can do to affect this is very limited unless you do cc etc on an older baby. I wish I had realised this sooner and just accepted it, rather than trying to find 'the answer'.

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 16/12/2010 18:03

DS slept 11pm-7am at 7 weeks. Lasted until 4 months, I think? Finally slept through 8pm - 5am at age 2.2 :) it's on and off. Mostly he only wakes at 11pm and/or 4am now.

NinkyNonker · 16/12/2010 21:03

Wow, DD is 19 wks odd and will only go 2 hrs during the day unless we're out and about. (EBF.) She used to sleep 7 till 4, then through till about 7, but like many others here come 13 wks odd we had to reinstate the 10pm ish feed, and now she has that, then sometime between 1 and 3, then she wakes for the day around 5,530! Lovely! I keep telling myself it is just the 4 month regression. On the plus side, she is learning so many new things at the moment it is very cool.

But, I think she is starting to teeth now too so last night was hellish. And she is on cold 3 now I think too...

shirleyhyypia · 17/12/2010 18:34

DS is 10+4, his pattern is (ish)

6am wakes up - small feed then will sleep til 8/9am
9.30am feed
11am doze
12.30pm feed
2-3pm ish doze
3.30 feed
5pm ish doze
6.30 feed
7.30pm bath
8.30pm feed
8.30-9 bedtime
3am feed

cinnamongreyhound · 17/12/2010 19:08

DS1 slept from 8pm-6am and soon after 7am from 14 weeks and since then only wakes at night when he's ill and is 3 1/2 now.

DS2 is 13 weeks and slept from 8/8.30pm until 7.30/5/6.30am for three days this week but was up once around 3 the last 2 nights.

If we are out he naps for 30 mins or so but if we are home will often have one nap of 2-3hrs and 30mins here and there. Usually only manages 1.5-2hrs awake in one spell. He feeds anything between every 5 and 1.5hrs during the day, depending when he feeds buring the night and when he's napping if that makes sense, still very variable.

Jacanne · 17/12/2010 19:58

Lol, both of my older two didn't sleep through (the whole night - apparently to a baby sleeping through is about 4-5 hours)until they were about 18 months. Baby no 3 is only 7 months - she had a brief flirtation with sleeping 6 hours or so without a feed but only just long enough to lell me into a false sense of security......

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 17/12/2010 20:01

dd: at 6 months would sleep 8pm til 6.00am onwards, 7am on a good day.

ds: kept similar hours but took him til about 9 months to get there.

sazlocks · 17/12/2010 21:51

I think of sleeping through as being 7 - 7
DS1 - 12 months
DS2 - 10.5 months

I didn't do anything at all to encourage it -never dream fed, never timed feeds, just breast fed on demand and assumed they would do it when they were ready.

ladylush · 17/12/2010 23:38

ds - 3yrs!
dd - 8 months

HereMeRoar · 17/12/2010 23:56

None of my 3 have ever slept 7-7. My eldest is 5.7 Shock. He once slept 8-7 Smile.

I honestly cannot remember when the older 2 started sleeping though (which I would count as 8-9pm until 5-6am, otherwise it'd be a very long wait!). They were both over 12 months and in each case it began as the odd night here and there and then gradually changed until it was more nights not waking than waking up. They both had regressions with illness, temperature changes and other disruptions.

Dc3 is 13 months and has never slept for longer than 5hrs. Her longest stint is in the evening, which is rather depressing, as I'm awake then.

MumNWLondon · 18/12/2010 19:02

DS2 slept 10-7am from 8 weeks, although up in the night again from 16 weeks. Although went to bed at 7pm from around 3 weeks old.

At 8 months still giving 11pm feed (he sleeps 7-11) if we don't give it he wakes at 1am, would love to drop it.

Dozeyland · 18/12/2010 19:06

What's "Dreamfeeding" again?

Good to hear everyone's experiences, DD is 7 weeks and roughyl doing 11,3/4, 7/8am....

but as i said before, we are all in the same room and t would be hard for me to settle her at like 7/8/or 9 as we are still up and about at that time. (currently livng in the living room)

yet another that has gone from 2 wake ups to now 3-4, he is also 14 weeks, its SHIT i am post operative and i want to sleep, fat chance

but feel better thats its a common thing

MumNWLondon · 18/12/2010 19:35

dreamfeeding is what we do - baby goes to bed at 7pm and then later, at your bedtime you give them a feed. DS2 drinks him bottle in his sleep, and he BF in his sleep while I was still BFing.

In terms of you all being in one room, is this long term, as eventually I would have thought the baby would be tired by 7pm and want to sleep... although might be happy to do so with you all in the room.

Also this might be useful:

cot canopy - maybe you can get one cheaper on ebay???

Dozeyland · 18/12/2010 19:52

It's only until we get allocated a place, or rent a new place. i'd say atleast until spring!?

I do hang a muslin over the moses, which can be handy. we normally bath her then i feed then she goes down for a bit before her next feed... then we go to bed until her next one..

its going well, i dont feel over-tired at the mo, but it would be nice to have a few more hours! but at the mo im not complaining :D

ds 8 hours from 10 weeks, dd from 12 weeks. ds ebf, dd had a bottle from dh @ 11pm. Dd was easier as she was happy to go back to sleep @ 530am, ds thought it was daytime .Once they were sleeping through I didn't go back to feeding at night if they woke they just got cuddles between 11pm and 5am.:).

naughtymummy · 18/12/2010 20:06

At your dd's age Dd fed @ 530am, sleep feed 830, sleep feed 1pm awake, feed 330-4pm short sleep, feed 630-7pm sleep ,party with dh 1030-12am, sleep.
Ds did 530 am party 830 feed, sleep. 11am feed, awake, 2pm feed sleep.5pm feed awake 6pm feed sleep. Dreamfed at 10pm until 5 months. What you desribe sounds fine sure she will go longer when shes ready

NovemberAli · 18/12/2010 20:10

From about 8 weeks (10 - 7), keep thinking I can never have another one as I can't possibly be so lucky twice Grin

Fillybuster · 18/12/2010 20:13

All 3 dcs have been bf. DS slept through (11pm ebf to 7.30am) at 9 weeks. DD1 at 10.5 weeks and DD2 at about 9 weeks. All 3 slept through without any wakings at all (ie no dummy, reswaddling etc) by 11 weeks at the latest.

harpsichordcarrier · 18/12/2010 20:13

dd1 was sleeping 12-6am at 6 weeks, and 6-6 at 12 weeks.
dd2 (now 5 yo) I'll let you know Hmm
both were ebm until around 6 months, and carried on feeding both of them until 3+

TheOldestCat · 18/12/2010 20:18

DD went through (well, six or seven hours) at a couple of months. Then at six months, she was waking every couple of hours, but by a year was sleeping through the night, mostly. I think.

DS is 10 months and has slept for 6 hours once. What a great night that was. It was the exception that proved the rule, though. He generally wakes up every 2-3 hours. I am going slowly insane.

Heremeroar - same here. DS will sometimes do four hours, but it's generally 7:30 until 11.30 and I'm working/doing housework/actually spending some time with DH...Or I'm on MN Grin
