Morning ladies!

athrawes I think I'd go for the big hospital too tbh. Like you said, at least then there's the option of talking to someone you know Oh and my dh had a mega nesting spree the day after dd was born, my house sparkled when I got home - he'd even been to the supermarket and bought lots of lovely fresh goodies so you never know!

dh good luck with the scan, hope the placenta is in the right place now.

mooky the measurements refer to how far the baby's head is into your pelvis. It means that the mw can only feel 2/5ths of baby's head above my pelvis now Have you got the NHS Pregnancy Book? this is the link to the right page which hopefully explains it a bit better!

kapars I'm very hormonal - moody, weepy you name it. Am also having terrible nightmares every night and waking absolutely boiling and having to walk round the house to cool off Added to early mornings with dd I'm really wishing away these last couple of weeks. Which is a shame since it's been a great pregnancy really.

beckyg123 · 16/06/2010 12:30

memphis yeh i am annoyed about it - a also wasn't aware of superstitions re. having pram in house until recently- since DH and his family have really strong feelings about it i think we will go along with it! not sure where to keep it tho?

Just back from GP, have lots of white blood cells and trace protein in urine so she has sent sample off to lab and given me antibiotic. Have been quite sore when having a pee but thought it was just coz baby was head down

Baby is also 3/5ths- thanks wwsw for info as I didn't really understand it either

kapars and wwsw i'm also having nightmares- DH had to ake me out of one the other night as i was so distressed! the pillow was soaking with tears

Just having some lunch before heading to BF workshop- its so lovely outside, really don't want to be stuck in the baking hot hospital but don't want to miss it either!

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/06/2010 12:37

Back from the mw, LO is also 3/5ths engaged and everything there is fine, just got to wait for the scan now. I hate afternoon appointments im too impatient!

I just picked up a Moses Basket I bought on ebay. It seems to come from a good clean home but it has been used by two babies and I'm wondering whether I must get a new mattress. Is it an economy too far to use her mattress. Can little mattresses be washed? It looks like I could wash it in the bath but not sure how it would dry.

Gracie123 · 16/06/2010 13:12

Deelite - I used second hand mattresses with DS because we couldn't afford anything else! They are only sponge, so I took mine to a launderette and stuck them in a big machine.
I hung them to dry on the line outside, brought in over night and re hung the next day.

Some people are really funny about second hand mattresses, but I figure if it came from a smoke free/pet free home, it's probably in no worse condition than it will be when we've finished with it!

Spirael I only got the four big bottles too. Look yummy, but haven't tried them yet.

Wonder you are still much more organised than me. Stuff we still haven't got includes
-cot
-mattress
-moses basket
-mattress
-nappy wrappers
-disposable nappies for hospital
-any new born clothes(!)
-maternity pads
-breast pads...

...probably loads more I've missed too!
The only thing we have got is our beautiful new pram - which I figure will work as a moses basket until we get around to getting one!

becky it's awful isn't it? Mine are about really random things as well. Sometimes takes me ages to wake out of it properly.

gracie I have a moses basket but will prob use the carrycot from the pram - I think it has a better mattress

deelite Re mattresses, I'm reusing the crib mattress as we bought that new for dd (it was a second hand crib) and she was only on it a few months but I have replaced the cotbed mattress with a stonking new one from the cot mattress factory. Dd was in her cotbed on a crap mattress for 2 and a half years so it had to be replaced! Got a deluxe sprung one for £55 inc delivery Personally I'd get a new mattress, it's been used for 2 kids already and they're strangers.

tsc my dd is being a right pita at the mo, she's constantly on the wind up and that's if she's not ignoring everything I say! This is all I need, a 4yo demanding brat and a tiny demanding baby!

Still not had my appletiser box I bet it's got totally smashed and they can't deliver it...

mlic I did curry, pineapple, a long walk and bumpy roads yesterday (purely by accident! I only realised late last night when I was all achy!) and nowt has happened

memphis83 · 16/06/2010 15:10

deelite i would get a new mattress for piece of mind at least then your mind would be at ease for paying out a few more pounds
gracie cant believe you still sound so calm with so much to get, i would be straight down tesco buying a pack of nappies, maternity pads and a few basic baby grows and vests if i lived near you just so you had a few things! ive now had things sorted for so long that ive started buying random things, i went and bought a gruffalo toy for him today as i love the gruffalo and my mum couldnt believe i hadnt even bought him a toy for when hes born, tried telling her it isnt like he will start playing as soon as he pops out!!
becky superstitions dont really bother me but mil told dh at start not to let me have it in house and he wont let me even try it in car boot for size. do you not have anyone else locally who can have it or you could ask your sister again its not like its for weeks!
wwsw ive just bought a pineapple, walked a lot today, will be having a clary sage bath later and bouncing on my ball for rest of day!
someone just came up to me and said oooh i bet today is killing you with heat and youve got whole summer to go, she thought i was only about 25 weeks gone she didnt believe me when i said im 37 weeks!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 16/06/2010 15:25

memphis you lucky thing! I've been having sympathetic looks for ages now - problem is I am all on the front so it looks odd. I really don't look pregnant from behind Where do you get the clary sage from? Is it an oil from H&B or similar? I'm not suppsed to be trying anything til tmrw night. Once dh is home from Cambridge he's not working away again til middle of August, yay! So tomorrow night I start in earnest. I'm thinking curry for dinner, pineapple after, bounce on ball for a bit then a bath then I'll molest the husband

gracie I'm also over organised...to the point I've been pottering about today packing the change bag plus one to keep downstairs should really be emptying the toybox but never mind...

kkfairybrains · 16/06/2010 15:32

stac sorry to hear that sad news.
becky i've evrything in the house! even have the moses basket in the living room! also on the urine sample pot i had doctor check up this morn and they never gave me a new pot at hospital the last time so i washed out a little orange juice bottle and used that then got a pot when i got to doctors and transferred it!
slept so well last night and didnt wake til 11 this morn with the phone ringin cos i had a client at 11 and she was here and i slept in! cant believe i didnt wake earlier! and id sleep again if i had the chance! and for a change poor dp was awake all night worrying about the baby and how he's gonna change nappies and all! and he knows how to do it but he's just getting anxious god love him!
i've never tasted appletiser but you all talking about it makes me want some!how did scan go dh?

memphis83 · 16/06/2010 15:40

wwsw i got it from holland and barratts, i but 5 drops in bath and then i added some to a base oil and rubbed on bottom of bump, i felt strange all night after doing it so i will be doing it every other night now! i just look like i have a football up my top and boobs like dolly parton!
im not bothering with curry, my mw said yesterday it would only start labour off if it agrivated your bowels and 90% of women who poop in labour is through eating something thats given them a dodgy tummy, i dont want the humiliation of getting the trots in front of my mum and dh!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 16/06/2010 15:42

www.birthfriendly.co.uk/alternative.htm this website]] is quite interesting reading re natural labour induction

WickedWitchSouthWest · 16/06/2010 15:42

www.birthfriendly.co.uk/alternative.htm bugger

WickedWitchSouthWest · 16/06/2010 15:44

memphis thanks very much for that, fab stuff. I am a bit concerned about the whole curry thing, I'm windy enough as it is

Mookymoo · 16/06/2010 16:37

thanks for that WWSW, must try to be a bit more proactive in finding things out at this stage. MW just not that great, when I explained about a pain that I have been having (which I can only really explain as 'having my wee tubes twanged' so maybe that didn't help) she just said 'ooooh, that's weird isn't it?'...

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/06/2010 16:42

hello all, sitting in the car at a very windy beach waiting to pick up the new car.

scan went well we got a pic of his face will post it later.
sonographer said baby is on the 50th centile, can someone enlighten me as to what this means in terms of how much he weighs?

thanks!

stac14 · 16/06/2010 16:51

hey ladies, had my other scan today and have been told lo hasn't grown in 2wks. The docs want me back on friday to do a heart trace on her and another scan next wednesday. They have said she has plenty of fluid in the womb and the blood flow in the cord is as it should be. Lo is also still active which are all obviously good signs. When ds was getting growth scans they told me he wasnt growing, had little fluid and would be a small baby. He was 10lb 6 and my fluid soaked the docs. Anyone know anything about this?

becky kapars and wsww my nightmares are bad too. I have managed to wake myself up talking, cant wait till they go lol

Finally dropped off bout 3am, what bout you jojo?

Wow gracie your so laid back by all his, i've to get a couple of bits and i'm worried

memphis83 · 16/06/2010 17:59

stac all along they have said my baby is huge, then between last 2 visits (3 week gap) they said he hadnt grown at all and was now classed as on the small side, they werent concerned and said by this week if he hadnt grown they would scan him but i had grown a bit, they said sometimes they have spurts of growth then have a rest when they are not so greedy, hope this is case with you too try not to worry

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/06/2010 18:18

stac glad your scan went well, mine was similar in that the fluid was all normal and the blood flow to the cord.

Sorry for posting the question again but in case anyone missed it, the sonographer said he was on the 50th centile, so does this mean his weight is average for the amount of weeks I am?

OP posts:
memphis83 · 16/06/2010 18:25

dh not 100% sure but i will give it a go, 50th centile is out of 100, 50 is average for weeks pregnant, so 75 would be on the large side 25 would be small and 50 is perfect!

kapars · 16/06/2010 18:27

desperate it means spot on average yes.
Mine is 82 centile which means only 18% of babies are bigger than her for her weeks.

kapars · 16/06/2010 18:30

ps Jealous you got a face scan - my sonographer said 'oh we won't be able to see anything clearly' when I asked for pix and then she didn't explain what anything was and only confirmed placenta had moved. Baby was just a big blur....

NorkyButNice · 16/06/2010 18:36

We couldn't see the face at our scan last week either - it was all a bit of a blur to be honest!

Mine is over the 95th centile which means blinkin' massive! 50th means nice and normal size and weight

I'm sat bouncing on my ball whilst typing on laptop - multitasking at it's finest!
