Anybody else getting very fed up!!? I'm a week overdue today and I thought I would have my baby by now

Boodstress · 02/05/2010 14:03

I'm 5 days over and while I know that's not much, it feels like it with a section looming on Thursday, maybe my body just can't do it on it's own. They will break my waters on thurs morning if they can but I fear it will end up like last time if I don't go into labour naturally. I don't feel near, just very heavy. Hope everyone finds us on here.

Hello, just popping on to let you know that baby Charlie arrived on the 22nd April after a 1.5 hour labour weighing 8lb 3.5oz. He is totally gorgeous, and so far sleeping and feeding well, but OMG my poor nipples!

Many congratualtions to all the other new arrivals, life seems very different again suddenly.

To those that are still waiting, you have my sympathy, I was late with both of the other two and it was soooo fustrating, your babies will be here before you know it.

Mistymoo · 02/05/2010 16:38

Hi I just wanted to pop in to say congratulations to all the new mummies and babies. I especially wanted to say hi to zeeky and wow what a size!

All the best for all the overdue babies.

Still here at 8 days overdue with a plan for homebirth dependent on speedy arrival. Induction date reluctantly agreed for 10th May if necessary.

Zeeky · 02/05/2010 21:21

Found you! Keep the faith ladies, your babies will def be here soon. Still in shock that George has finally arrived!

To fill in the details...Felt uncomfortable & crampy all evening on thurs after internal by midwife who couldn't actually reach my cervix to do a sweep as it was still so high. Fri morn got up feeling fine again & was feeling really fed up. Went off for reflexology at 9.30am. Had a strong BH during treatment but otherwise felt ok. Then on way home had a different sort of BH so thought it could possibly be a contraction - not nice when driving! Once home continued to get the contractions occasionally & felt generally uncomfortable with a lot of pressure on my back passage. About 1pm contractions started coming quicker and got more & more intense. Luckily my parents were already on their way from Wales to look after ds as they had decided to come for weekend regardless of if & when my labour started. By 4.30 I was starting to struggle a bit with the intensity of the surges & was finding it difficult to keep my focus on the hypnobirthing we had been practising. DH was amazing at helping me breath through them. 5pm I'd had enough and got dh to call midwife unit. The pressure on my back passage area during each contraction was panicking me. Managed to get through rushhour traffic ok. Midwife examined me about 6.30 & I was already 8cm dilated which was such a relief to hear. I wanted to get in the pool but they were struggling to get it to the right temp. Got in pool about 7ish, started pushing about 7.20 & finally pushed George out at 8pm. No pain relief at all. Dh kept me focused on breathing which I was stuggling with. Midwives were excellent telling me when to push and how much. All in all an amazing hypno-water birth experience & we managed to follow our birth plan to the letter.

Then for the bad news - due to his size, I tore along my scar tissue from DS1. The midwife was worried i had torn internally and wanted a doctor to do the stitches so i had to be transferred to hospital. Ended up having to have a spinal as I had 3rd degree tear. Then had a funny turn when I came out of theatre as blood pressure plummeted. Bit of a shame that I had to have spinal and go to hospital after such a good birth but recovering well.

George is very sleepy so having to wake him to feed regularly, due to him being so big. Can't quite believe how big he is - 10lb 7.5oz

PrincessTweetz · 03/05/2010 07:32

Zeeky Well done on coping soo well....especially on the size as well...goodness me that was an eye watering moment when I read that bit..congratulations!!
Congratulations new mummies, and still popping in to check for any new arrivals....good luck xxx

Neeko · 03/05/2010 09:12

Congrats to all the new mummies and particular well done to Zeeky.

Sending lots of labour vibes to those of you who are overdue.

baby2isoverdue · 03/05/2010 10:42

Extra labour vibes needed here please! Nothing going on - this baby is way too comfy in there. Will have a morning on the birthing ball and see how she likes that.
Appt at birthing centre this afternoon. Sad to think that if nothing happens within the next 7 days I may lose the chance to have the labour there and end up in the labour ward (boo) having an induction (boo again).
REALLY want to meet this baby girl!

Boodstress · 03/05/2010 12:41

sending some vibes baby2isoverdue but I don't think my vibes are up to much. Everyone is basically telling me I should be thrilled I will def meet my baby on Thurs after a section, they just don't get why it is so important to me to go into labour naturally or why meeting the baby isn't the most important thing. Of course the safe arrival of number 2 is the most important thing but I so wanted to let me body do it and I am scared of the section, more scared of a VBAC. I am scared of the recovery and all the crap I hd to deal with last time except now I have a toddler in tow. I think I have all but given up the belief that my body will go into labour by itself to make things worse. God I am really sounding miserable now...sorry

Boodstress · 03/05/2010 12:54

Zeeky - incredible birth story by the way, you must have been so in the zone not to have felt that 'ouch'. Its a shame you needed to have the spinal after everything but amazing that your body alone took care of the birth.

Mistymoo · 03/05/2010 16:07

Thought I should add my birth story.

Woke up at about 5.30am on Tuesday with tightenings but thought nothing of it as I'd been there before. Slept on for a bit. When I woke up and started making breakfast etc for family the contractions continued. I took out my ironing at about 8.15 and did that and at about 9.00 I thought I'd better start timing contractions. At that point they were about 4 mins apart and I phoned dh at work at 9.30. He said to phone MW and see what she said. When I phoned she said she would pop out to see me but in meantime take paracetamol and have a beth. I took the paracetamol but couldn't bear thought of a bath.

My mum came round to keep me company and at about 10.30 (still no MW) I phoned DH to come home. He arrived and told me he had to fill the car with diesel as he had none! Off he went and when he came back I asked him to see how far away MW was. She arrived 5mins later, about 11.30, told me I was 4-5 cms and should head up to hospital when ready.

Arrived at hospital at about 12 and had to wait in day room until my room was ready. When examined at about 12.45 I was about 7 cms and started using gas and air. My waters didn't go until about 1.45. My ds was then born at 2.11 so was I was delighted that it was not a long labour. I did have a slight tear but nothing too big apparently so had some stitches.

We were surprised we had a boy as we were convinced we were having a girl as the pregnancy was so similar to when I carried my dd.

baby2isoverdue · 03/05/2010 19:52

Mistymoo i have labour-envy. It sounded lovely and easy you lucky thing.
Had a sweep this afternoon and MW said I was 2cm dilated so I hope that means things will start happening soon.
How are all the other late ladies doing??

ilovesprouts · 03/05/2010 21:06

my dd had a sweep fri and was1-2cm dilated mw says she could touch babys head ,coming tues for 2nd s&s

Boodstress · 04/05/2010 09:37

babyisoverdue thats great news, and Ilovesprouts dd - sounds like we have another couple on the way. I have to go to the hospital this afternoon for all the pre op stuff so that if they do section I am all prepared. It feels like defeat but I guess it has to be done. Sat on birthing ball for so long yesterday and all it seemed to have done is make my pelvis weigh a ton and my spd worse. Still going to keep positive as I have til Thurs and I am only 41 wks today...

OP posts:
baby2isoverdue · 04/05/2010 10:40

Still nothing happening though! Will go walkies today as recommended by MW but what I'm fast learning is that no matter how 'ready' my body seems to be this baby will just come when it wants to come and no amount of prodding and poking will spur it on. (God I sound relaxed - tomorrow my mood will swing back to the default mode of impatience and desperation!)
I hope you don't feel that a CS is a defeat Bood- I know you're disappointed and you so want a natural birth but think about how brilliant your body has been so far - it has carried and nurtured your baby for over 9 months which is some achievement. Also, you'll forget about the discomfort of these last few days once you look at your baby for the first time on Thursday. Good luck at the hospital this afternoon. Here's hoping you go into spontaneous labour while you're there!

Boodstress · 04/05/2010 12:04

Its sort of a personal defeat - I think if you can get your head around a section and don't feel negative then it can be a really great experience espeacially a planned one. I have lots of friends who think I am insane and would opt for a section above all else. I will get in the zone tomorrow evening if nothing happens by then and be the picture of calm and acceptance when I go into Hospital on Thurs . Enjoy your walk baby2isoverdue

OP posts:
baby2isoverdue · 04/05/2010 17:18

Back from walk. No longer have the post-sweep waddle which makes me think she's moved back up put of my pelvis again (surely if I was 2cm dilated I wouldn't be able to walk without waddling - right?)
So just spent 3 hours on birthball watching political debates in a bid to shake her out but now just have very numb bum.
Will be frankly rather annoyed if she comes within the next 48 hours and denies me my chance to vote!
Next s&s and 'induction chat' booked in for Thurs so maybe she'll hang on til then and promptly slide out in a nice easy labour a la mistymoo (positive thinking)
