I am back from the hospital and it was as I suspected a false alarm. I noticed a large wet patch where I was sitting earlier but I have had an internal and it would appear that my waters are intact.

I posted a few weeks ago about the communication difficulties I was having with the Registrar I have been seeing. Hopefully I will be having a VBAC but I did inform the Registrar at both of my appointments that in the event of going over my due date I do not consent to being induced or having my waters broken. At my 36 week appointment I was given an induction date of 22nd April (11 days after my due date) I reminded the doctor that I am not in agreement to be induced and he said if you don't want to be induced we can break your waters I told him for the second time that I do not want my waters broken and that if I get to this date I want an elective csection, he then said that I could have an elective csection on 22nd April. I know that booking a csection is not that simple and I expressed my concerns to my midwife at the time, she was in agreement with me and said that if I go over my due date she will book me in for a section on 22nd April. When I went to the hospital today I saw a lovely midwife who was very surprised to read in my birth plan that I do not consent to being induced and having my waters broken as the Registrar has booked me in for these procedures on 22nd April! So now I have to go back to see the same silly man on Monday to request an elective csection that I have already requested at my 20 and 36 week appointments! The midwife checked the diary and has said that they are fully booked for the next 4 weeks so what do I do?

I could strangle the bloody man I don't know how to make myself more clearer. I am going to write him a letter so that it is on record that I have made this request on three occasions but if they can't fit me in what do I do? I have no confidence in this doctor whatsoever. Hopefully this will all be academic and I will go into labour before then. Fingers crossed.

flybynight · 07/04/2010 20:02

dollshouse I can't advise anything, but I am so sorry that you are faced with this aggravation so late in your pregnancy. You are absolutely right to send a stiff letter of complaint (I always copy such letters into the press office and threaten to do a sad-face story in the local paper - can resolve problems quite quickly, but that is an aside). Also, remember if you don't consent to induction and ARM they will HAVE to perform a CS.

helenwombat I was induced in Australia (pessary only) and was still allowed to labour in the water. I didn't stay there long because I thought it was slowing me down, but I was certainly allowed in.

Bettymum · 08/04/2010 09:27

thedollshouse dear oh dear . Really hope you get everything sorted OK.

my dd has lost all her plug thats where the water was coming from so they said

Mistymoo · 08/04/2010 10:13

Does that mean they think it will be very soon ilovesprouts? I hope everything goes OK for your DD.

ReneRusso · 08/04/2010 11:09

So so sorry for you dollshouse, you don't need the stress at the moment. Can you ask to see another doctor? There must be someone more senior who you can explain all this to who can sort it out. Hope you go into labour before then in any case, but as someone else says, they will have to find a space for you to have an elcs if you don't agree to induction, they can't force you.

stinkypinky · 08/04/2010 13:06

Dollshouse, ask to see the Consultant, and nobody of a lower grade. Also get in touch with PALS (patient liaison) asap to get their help. They will find space for you if needed as would be deemed an emergency at that stage, but would be better for everyone if things could be planned now.
Good luck...

thedollshouse · 08/04/2010 13:44

Thanks for advice everyone. I have asked to see the consultant but they have said she will only see patients with high complications so I am stuck with the Registrar. I intend to send the Consultant a letter by email in advance of the appointment on Monday explaining what has happened and stating that I expect to be given a csection date on Monday within 2 weeks of my due date. The odd thing is when I saw the Registrar a few weeks ago he gave me a form to sign which asked me whether his communication skills were satisfactory or inadequate. It makes me wonder if he is under some sort of performance monitoring scheme.

tostaky · 08/04/2010 16:25

Home with baby Aurel who arrived on the 7th (a week late!)at 2.32am. He weights 4.1kg (9lbs) and he is gorgeous!!! (OBVIOUSLY!! [WINK])
i had a successful VBAC and im very happy with everything!!
Will post more later!!

Boodstress · 08/04/2010 16:33

Congratulations Tostaky, fabulous news. AND a successful VBAC...thats what I like to hear, I am even more determined now. What a beautiful name as well. Big baby - I am expecting a big un too - I can't wait to heat the full story. Take it as easy as possible.

Boodstress · 08/04/2010 16:36

Meant to say Dollshouse, hope you get the booking sorted, what on earth are they playing at. I can't believe they would book you in for an induction when you had a section last time..is that the drip only? anyway as one of the girls said, nothing happens without your say so. Good luck.

hi its a case of wait and see

eastendmummy · 08/04/2010 17:23

Congrats Tostaky - also loving the name! Congrats to Chegirl too and good luck to Dollshouse for getting through to your consultant.

I am home now with baby Isaac who is doing really well. Also a successful VBAC (although he needed forceps to turn him the right way around), and despite some discomfort, I'm delighted with how things went. 5 hours beginning to end which in the end included a 3 hour second stage so it all progressed very quickly. Was having dinner at 7pm on Tuesday night, DH still at work, then at 9pm thought I'd be having a home birth as I was already pushing! Midwife was amazing but as he was facing sideways, he needed a bit of help.

Compared to the 3 day epic marathon birth of DS1 that ended in em c-s, this was easy and I feel so different now, although walking is a little ouch!

Will try to put some pics up in a mo.

DS1 is home tomorrow from Grandparents so looking forward to seeing him and seeing his reaction to his little brother!

Boodstress · 08/04/2010 18:07

Eastendmummy well done for such an efficient labour this time, your first mirriors my experience with DS1 so I would be over the moon if I had a similiar scenario. I actually got goose bumps

chegirlWILLbeserene · 08/04/2010 20:21

Congrats Tostaky!
Glad it went so well Eastend.

I have uploaded a pic of Rudy on my profile. Hope it worked.

Congratulations tostaky and eastend! Lovely lovely news!
chegirl I can't see your profile, I want to see baby Rudy! .
No news in the Bettymum house, but at least it means I can sit in the sunshine doing not very much .

Jennysbean · 09/04/2010 09:47

Congrats Tosataky and happy you had such a positive birth Eastend.....
I am hoping this weekend brings a small person for me, have been so hot for the last 2 days and really sore back pain last night, contractions still coming and going though....
i feel a bit leaky as well but not sure is that is pelvic floor related or amnio fluid, its just a bit and tbh i dont really want to have to go to be monitored ( did that last time and it was a waste of time) bit more difficult when juggling a toddler as well...
I am ridiculously more laid back about this pregnancy than last time!

xx

thedollshouse · 09/04/2010 10:00

Its difficult when it comes to amniotic fluid isn't it Jennysbeann ? I am pretty sure that my waters have partially gone (happened with ds1, there was a tiny pin sized hole that meant that I continued leaking fluid but it was so small you could only see it on the scans) but the internal examination showed that they are still intact so they are treating me as if they have not gone. Huge straw coloured stain on our sheets which is enough to convince me that they are leaking.

I was signed off my midwifes books yesterday, she said she doesn't need to see me until after the baby arrives. Is it normal to be signed off so early? I could go on for another couple of weeks yet and would prefer to continue having my urine sample and blood pressure checked just to make sure all is well and there is no infection, there has been no discussion about sweeps either. I was a bit naughty and I tried to book a follow up appointment via the doctors receptionist and pretended that I didn't know I had been signed off her books but she wouldn't give me one anyway she said you are due on Sunday so there is no need to see the midwife again. I am finding this all very strange.

Jennysbean · 09/04/2010 10:06

I was signed off last week as well Dollshouse it is strange but I guess with subsequent pregnancies they are less inclined to monitor you so closely, I did feel a bit abandoned to be honest but I have her number....That is not meant to sound threatening!
If you want your preassuer checked, you should just call up and get it done, I am planning to do that if still intact on Monday.
Will think of you this weekend!! Due tomorrow - come on....
x

thedollshouse · 09/04/2010 10:13

Thanks Jennysbean. So it must be standard to sign you off when you get close to your due date. I said to my midwife that I would prefer to stay on her books but she said I could go to the hospital if I needed to, its 15 miles away and I don't have a car so I think if I do need to see someone I will just book an appointment at the GP surgery which is a 2 minute walk away.

Fingers crossed for some more arrivals this weekend. I have to keep reminding ds1 that although the baby is due in 2 days time he may not arrive for a while. He is so excited he is literally climbing the walls!
