pixie absolutely howled at that link
thank you esp as im feeling sorry/confused for myself today - ive been having bh for couple of wks now but today I can more count the times when bump HASNT been tight than when it has, but I cant be starting labour yet im only 35wks.
iwonkw [bouncing emoticon] one step closeeeeeer...

Sariska · 23/02/2010 20:16

Wonderful news, EmLouT. So glad to hear that Patrick is here safely.

Will you be next, I wonder, IWonka? Is your bag all packed?

Miserable rainy day here forced me to catch up on a year's worth of filing. Dull, dull, dullsville indeed but I feel much better now everything is where it should be and not in a cardboard box. Just wish I'd done it a few weeks ago. Would have made doing my tax return just a tad easier.....

Baby has had me worried today - hardly moved at all. Just pressure shifts, iyswim. Luckily a cold can of diet coke has just goaded her into proper action so I am off to eat a healthy dinner of chickpea and leek soup and, er, choc cake in front of you-all-know-what-on-C4 rather than wondering if I ought to be ringing the hospital.

FourLittleDucks · 23/02/2010 20:22

Is this the most recent thread ?
Due a week on Saturday with DD4 (DD2 died shortly after she was born, so 4th baby but only two DD at home with me).
Am very well, feeling fit and fine, sleeping well etc but can't seem to avoid that endless planning that goes on in the head!

MummyElk · 23/02/2010 20:31

Evening all
Ditto iwcas on the stenders episode, i truly thought that baby wasn't going to make it for a moment there....cue huge sob when he did breathe!!!
Glad I made you laugh tlc but am v that i missed the emlout announcement!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! brilliant news!! completely missing various important things today, sorry.
Must try that recipe pixie i too think you are doing marvellously well, not sure i could have cooked a double portion of cake today (though i'm eager to try tomorrow.... )
iwonka yay on the mucous plug!! V exciting! love it!

I think i'm joining people on the Nobby Stiles Sofa...any tips on what to do early doors to stave it off a bit? I was expecting them after i give birth anyway (all that pushing seems to trigger them for me) but any thoughts?

God we're an attractive bunch aren't we?!!! Mucous plugs, lady gardens, farting, piles.....what would the support thread for our poor DH's be called do you think?
"I haven't had sex in months, get that baby out of her"
"If I listen to her all the time....who listens to me.....??"
I'm sure you all have better imaginations.

On a much lighter note - 31 mins to One Born. think they'll actually show any births this week?!!!!

I've probably missed an enormous announcement from someone. sorry!!!!

PacificDogwood · 23/02/2010 21:02

Hi, Fourlittleducks, yes this is up to date thread for March, welcome! Hope your pregnancy is going well for you - so sad to hear about the little girl you lost . If you post your due date and boy/girl/surprise one of the head girls will add you to the list.

Re Nobby Stiles: TBH prevention is the best cure ie do NOT allow yourselves to become constipated - easier said than done, I know. I am currently on 2 portions of Allbran/day : one in the morning with my cereal, another after dinner ie now with yoghurt. And I am still struggling... gah! Drink lots of fluids, fresh orange juice or prune juice is good, lots of exercise , obey the Call to Stool (no, seriously, that's what it's called ), do not strain if you can help it.
If it is all too late and you are already suffering, as above plus add cold packs in your knickers - again I am not joking! Also elevating bum is good...

Iwonka, how exciting! Things are changing, yeah!!

Yep, going to watch 'One born' as well, DH is ... Love the idea of a support thread for fathers to be: "A whale ate my wife - will I ever see her again?"

MummyElk · 23/02/2010 21:07

Welcome 4littleducks pleased to see you here, bet your two little ducks at home are very excited about their sister! Very sad about DD2, am sorry. glad you are feeling fit and well and YES it's hard to switch that brain off isn't it?!!!

settling down to OBEM on C4, mug of raspberry leaf tea on arm of sofa. yum

PacificDogwood · 23/02/2010 21:09

OMG, have you just seen that water birth!! I so want one!

MummyElk · 23/02/2010 22:03

OMG, OBEM is just too much!
But I'll be there again next week...

So, are we ALL having waterbirths then??

MummyElk · 23/02/2010 22:23

ooh yes please! anyone slip off into BlissBirth daydreams at the moment? oohhh it would be so lovely for BabyElk to arrive in water..yes please.....fingers crossed
at one point on that thread i couldn't actually watch the programme AND read.....you're right IWCAS about the speed, jeez

Sariska · 23/02/2010 22:24

I'll join you in that g&t.

Watching other people give birth and be born really shouldn't be so exhausting.

PacificDogwood · 23/02/2010 22:26

Oh, virtual G+Ts!

Cheers!

Night-night!

rebeccacad · 23/02/2010 22:55

Evening all!

Just thought I'd check in and see how you're all doing.

EmLouT - huge congratulations, delighted he's a good weight.

Pixie - have everything crossed your babies appear on exactly the right day, but does sound like things are progressing, eh

mumofseven am sending baby turning vibes your way.

Iwonka - very exciting. I know people who went in to labour the next day after losing their plug (though some others who took a bit longer too)

Just watched OBEM - wishing we'd managed to get in the pool, but so thankful for such a short labour after seeing that woman in there for hours. Her DH was awful! I got really emotional looking at Sofya when they were showing the little boy with the problem with his bowels. God, I couldn't bear it if she scratched her knee let alone something like that.

IWCAS hoping your cooker.heating situation gets better

All well here - we've had a lovely few days with the LO - milk now in and she's feeding really well. She won't settle anywhere but on me or DH so have quickly accepted she'll sleep in our bed for first few weeks. Any tips on co-sleeping those of you who've had babies before? and in fact any tips on getting them to settle in cot too!

Thinking of you all and sending 'hang on in there'/'come out now' vibes to you all as appropriate.

Rindercella · 23/02/2010 23:30

Congratulations Emlou - fabulous news...well done you!

Iwonka! Sounds like you won't be too far behind. Good luck!

4LittleDucks welcome. Very sorry to hear about your daughter. Best of luck with the arrival of your DD4.

IWCAS, am loving your description of Gaviscon! You have to gulp it down quickly without thinking too deeply about the texture of it.

Well, DD started her pre-school today. Hopefully she'll have a good few weeks to get truly settled in (although only there 2 mornings a week) before DD2 makes an appearance. She adored it though and seemed very happy - I left her after an hour, and when asked later if she wanted Mummy to come and collect her or if she wanted to stay for lunch, she said she wanted to stay! She's a pretty confident, social child so I am sure she will be fine.

I am now quite traumatised having seen One Born Every Minute for the first time Thank God I know DH is the most supportive birth partner I could ever hope for, unlike that utter idiot Darren. I then also made the mistake of watching EastEnders on BBC3.

Anyhow, the upshot of that is that I will now be requesting a waterbirth when I see my mw on Thursday! When DD1 was crowning, DH was terrified he was going to drown her as I kept begging for him to pour water over me! Water in pregnancy = A Very Good Thing imo

I am genuinely starting to get a little bit scared about the birth. I know it's going to hurt a lot. There just is no getting away from that is there?

siamesecatwoman · 24/02/2010 08:39

oooo bum. more snow! DH went to watch some footie last night and couldnt drive up our hill so had to abandon his car and walk 2 miles at 1am.. poor thing. It just makes me so tense! I dont want to have to call mountain rescue to get me to the birth centre!

I had an odd dream last night that Smac was trying to sell me a house in Scotland. I didnt buy it - too far to get to work, unsurprisingly I think you have a new nappy business though? (are you allowed to post a link?)

Congrats to EmLou - well done and big hugs x

mumof7 and IWCAS well done on finding your inner pg strength to deal with idiots - i hope you both get sorted ASAP.

Iwonka - any further news?

pacific love your sarcastic comment to the unobservant.

Any one else taking raspberry leaf tablets? What dosage? It may be coincidence but when I take mine, I get BH.

I always forget someone so big waves to everyone else,

There are a couple of people who havent posted since last week - I hope they are busy with legs crossed or busy with small babies *delete as required

Arcadie · 24/02/2010 08:49

EmlouT x 1000! Hurrrrray!

mawbroon · 24/02/2010 09:14

Hi ladies. I posted on here a while back because I had the feeling that I am going to have a March rather than a Feb baby....

I am due on Saturday, and there's not even as much as a twinge yet, so I've come back to say hi.

I got my plaster cast off last week and am now in a removable moonboot. I am much more mobile, but am not allowed any weightbearing unless I am wearing my boot. But what a relief to be able to take it off. It means I am much more comfortable at night, and am managing almost a full night's sleep most nights (ds depending of course...)

I got the go ahead for a VBAC, so this is new territory for me because DS was born by elective cs at 39+1...

Hope you are all doing ok, haven't had time to read everything!!

annamama · 24/02/2010 09:28

Mmm between EastEnders and OBEM I would say it was birthing overdose on telly last night!

4littleducks - welcome and sorry about your loss from me too.

at Pacific's comment re "are you pregnant?"

Support thread for fathers, haha, yes the poor sods... How about "Pregnancy hormones should be illegal" or "5 minutes of action, 9 months of misery - was it worth it?"

I packed my labour bag last night, hurrah. Keep forgetting to find birthing ball though, how about right now...?!

angfirsttimer · 24/02/2010 09:56

Anyone else get a little annoyed that OBEM showed so little of that lovely water birth and so much of that idiot husband with a 'level 5 in management'?

my best friend had her DC2 this morning. she was due 4 days after me but also that she has a beautiful little girl. What with that and the OBEM and Eastenders birth double bill I haven't stopped blubbing for the last 12 hours!

Iwonka · 24/02/2010 10:02

Hello Ladies,

Still here!

Sariska, I've been packed for weeks now! Hope it's not time yet. DH couldn't sleep last night from all the excitement. Poor thing had to go to work this morning. Told him to keep his mobile on him AT ALL TIMES! Must stay calm and practice my relaxation!
Hope your baby has become more active now, and giving you some nice little kicks.

Rebeccacad, I read your post to DH and he nearly fainted. I don't think we're quite ready yet! But it's not up to us, is it?
You sound like you're having a blissful time with your LO. Must be wonderful...

Rindercella, I know what you mean about being a little bit fearful. It's finally starting to hit me how close we all are to the big day. Must stay positive that all will be fine and keep nice and relaxed!

I like the idea on the support thread for fathers too! Made me

MummyElk · 24/02/2010 10:38

Morning all
Well last night, I dreamt about several of us, pacific, pixie iwcas and rinders were in there as well as a few others....we had all changed into Peppa Pig (or characters within Peppa Pig) and we were sort of in labour as those characters....All except 4littleducks who was, of course, a cutout of 4 white ducks with lovely yellow beaks, with hills in the background (hence the song 4 little ducks went swimming one day, over the hills and far away.... etc etc) and instead of mooing etc as people do in labour, we were oinking. .
And when I woke up for Wee no 4, DH said - YOU were making some very odd noises in your sleep...
'Like what' I say, innocently (peppa pig still floating in my mind)
"erm......BIRTHING noises. Only way I can describe it. Are. You. Ok....."

Obviously alllllll toooo much for my subconscious last night!!
