sariska thread should read beware not for non-pregnant women or lurkers thinks back to do not enter signs on teenage door...

DrSkid I had contr started 2 weeks before due date with DC3 good thing was MW gave me a sweep (app only allowed to do if already in established labour if before term) and I had him next day a week early at 7lb 12 that was big enough thank you. hoping same thing happens this time

watched the waterbirth on one born, struck me that although ive had 3 births Im always at the top end so have never SEEN the baby born IYKWIM.

mumofseven turning babies - theres a section on RADMID I think have linked before I think preggie brain not working /too lazy

waiting for charity van to take HUGE sofa out of hall...hurry up... can hardly get past it with size of bump...pats bump fondly.

Grizzer · 23/02/2010 14:32

Thanks everyone, I've booked first acupuncture session for tomorrow. I've just got to make it to the pub on Saturday to watch England V Ireland rugby. (I'm English , DH Irish so very important!!) I'm not sure I'll get him to hospital if anything happens before

annamama · 23/02/2010 14:48

Yeah Pixie are you sure it't just BH...? Oh these are such exciting times!

Drumming and machetes... I'm glad I'm not alone!

OP posts:
Pingpong · 23/02/2010 15:29

yeah Pixie are you sure????
Having never had a BH I'm no expert but I thought BH weren't supposed to be painful. . . .
I've been feeing very twingey, nothing regular but oh so ready for this baby so slide out soon.
I am so very, very grumpy as well. DH is driving me insane.
No batch cooking here as our freezer is too ridiculously small but lots of baking and eating to pass the time.

Pingpong · 23/02/2010 15:35

Just copying EmLouT's post from the old thread here:

Hi all - just a quickie as I feel as though I have been hit by a train and need to rest while I can.

Patrick Anthony arrived on Thursday 18th Feb at 10.12 pm weighing 5lb 4oz (a very respectable weight considering how worried they were about him). Delivery was very dramatic and ended in an emergency c-section but I am home now and he is an absolute darling!

Congrats to all who have had their babies - more news later. x

MummyElk · 23/02/2010 15:43

walnut i second you on the hot flushes, awful aren't they. MW says watch out for them afterwards too..... Also, how about sausage casserole? freezes lovely. tbh, i don't think you even CARE what you eat those first few weeks, i remember people bringing me tesco cottage pies and me devouring them without even noticing what they were . am utterly NOT a snob i promise but don't think i'd probably even considered a ready meal before that?!! (2 years on and they are consistently in our freezer, not sure if that deserves a for my loss of domesticity or just a )
at granny23!! We like! Do please pop in with some words of wisdom occasionally pls?

Went to a v nice All Things Baby shop place today in bristol, took a while to get there, took a while to park, etc etc. promptly bought two of the, er, 7 things i was going to buy and forgot the rest spent some time wandering around aimlessly whilst dd trashed the joint and then found myself across the road with coffee and cake (with DD, in case you think i was utterly mad)

pixie are you having babies today please? and if you aren't can you pass some bloody lemon cake around???

donttrythisathome · 23/02/2010 15:47

Thanks Smac and I hope things heat up for you soon!

Congrats Emlou! You must be so relieved your babs is here and safe. Hope you are resting up.

BusyMissIzzy I have similar "symptoms" to you. Baby low in the pelvis, occasional period/back pains, lots of squirming etc. Was wondering if I should text my doula when...ahem...realised I just needed a big fart!

Oh well...to be honest I'd like if my little lady stayed in for another week or so anyway. Our new front door is arriving on Friday and it would be nice if the baby wasn't crowning at that time

Hello everyone else and good luck.

@ Pixie I'm just coining Arcadie's phrase from her birth announcement! I'm sure it was Arcadie that started this but can't be bothered to scroll back through 1000 messages so apologies if I'm misquoting!
Just had delicious carrot cake with very runny icing! mmmmm

DrSkidaddle · 23/02/2010 16:58

Oh pixie I was getting all excited for you there!

Great news EmLou and glad you are home and enjoying him

caitni am so with you on the ladygarden-ignoring - cannot be bothered and do not care! Hope 2nd hypnotherapy session was good. You sound like you're having the best ML ever - am very !. Oh and I went to 42 weeks with DD FWIW (40+3 with DS)

henrietta at one sweep making you go into labour the next day! I have had one sweep (at 39+6) and won't see my MW again as she is on holiday - just have to ring hospital to book an induction for 42 weeks

mumofseven... sorry to hear she is breech and what a shock to be told you will have a CS end0f I think all that spinning babies stuff can take a while. I have been doing it as my baby is back-to-back and I have read that it needs to be adopted as a lifestyle (), not just 10 mins on all fours each evening

I am 40+3 today and I have almost lost the plot! Phonecalls asking if I've had the baby (especially middle of the night ones from my dad in India), everyone I meet commenting, fake contractions.... reminds me of when I went 2 weeks over with DD and I really did lose the plot. DH came home from work one day and I had disappeared - I had gone wandering through a forest miles from our house, sobbing like a baby - my advice to first-timers would be to adjust your due date to 42 weeks and consider anything before that as coming early!

Shroomer · 23/02/2010 17:09

Granny23 likes the thread title! Is there an emoticon for a rather smug/chuffed look? No? Probably a good thing

BusyMissIzzy · 23/02/2010 17:17

Big congrats to EmLouT! 5lb 4oz is great; teeny and cute but very respectable considering. I was only 5lb 10oz when I was born; they do say the best things come in small packages

Tesco ready meals MummyElk?

Donttry, actually now that you mention it I did have a bit of wind during the night

DrSkid at the thought of you sobbing at being overdue last time. I've been trying to convince myself that this baby will be late, that way I won't be too impatient, but it's not working. And DH is not helping by announcing (completely arbitrarily) that she is going to arrive this Thursday

Ooh, and here's hoping that all our babies just 'slide' out

DrSkidaddle · 23/02/2010 17:29

Oh my DH does that too BusyMissIzzy - he said about a month ago the baby would be born TODAY - well where is he then???? Imagine if your DH is right though - then he will also need a smug/chuffed face that schroomer needs!

Hello, all!

First of all, massive congratulations to EmLouT for the safe arrival of her son . Phantastic news, that all is well!! Hope you and him are recovering well and that he will soon add to his already respectable weight. So happy for you that everything worked out.

mumforseven, sorry to hear you do not feel particularly well communicated with, that's crap. Hospitals will often book and elCS which does NOT mean that you have to have one.... Hope it will all turn out ok.

Re Gaviscon Advance - ROFL at peppermint snot! I do not disagree, but it does work for me, so I kind of knock it back straight out of the bottle, swallowing quickly before i taste too much IYKWIM.

On a more serious note: OMG, IWCAS, what a horrible cooking/heating/hot water situation! That is just really shocking, pregnant or not, but obviously worse when you are expecting. SO get your 45 pounds back, and the rest, for "mental anguish" as my DH is fond of claiming . I do hope that Thursday will come quickly for you and you be all sorted out.

I brought my DB to the airport this morning, on the way back stopped at a big shopping centre for a wander as I feel that today was my first day on holiday mat leave as I do not usually work on a Monday. Well, let's just say at 38 weeks I am really not up to a wander anymore... . I cannot walk v far, get really strange pelvic/symphisis discomfort and just kind of feel that my nether regions will fall apart when upright too much. And BH, meh!!

Spoke to my lovely midwife today, pool for delivery is go, yeah! Hospital I go to has 2 pools, at least one is usually free apparently and even if not the encourage you to labour in the bath and transfer when a birthing pool becomes available.

I also took Swiss Ball out of garage today, it needs a good wash and I need to check it for leaks...

Have a nice one

Caitni · 23/02/2010 17:44

Ok, flying visit (as must stop procrastinating on t'internet!) but IWCAS I snorted with laughter at your gaviscon description . Sorry to hear Comet are being so rubbish - hope this nightmare ends soon (and thank god for the frozen meals! am now salivating at pork coconut curry...)

EmLou hurray! Massive congrats on your son's safe arrival! Small but perfectly formed . Take it easy and enjoy getting to know your new baby

DrSkid sorry to hear how stressful it was first time around going overdue . No wonder you're going a bit mad with all the phone calls/comments...I'd be tempted to tell them all to just f off and leave me alone! Not so easy in practice though...

Pixie lemon drizzle cake - yum! Though was also at your sticky socks. No wonder the tightenings feel tighter for you - my own belly is like a drum now and so I can only imagine what it's like to have two little ones in there.

Right, off to do dishes and try and get the living room straightened out and possibly even vacuum/mop the floor boards (actually...just typing that makes me tired so reckon I'll give that a skip!).

mumofsevenplusfour · 23/02/2010 17:45

managed to get an appointment with my own consultant next tuesday but still felt i needed questions re ecv answered sooner rather than later . after numerous phonecalls and eventually saying that unless i got answers quickly id demand a vaginal breech delivery which i felt might put the wind up them managed to get an appointment tomorrow pm with a different consultant. im enjoying ny new found pregnancy related assertiveness normally wouldnt say boo to a goose
delighted for emlout great name and not a bad weight
rushing off to brownies swimming club and school play this evening

PacificDogwood · 23/02/2010 17:52

Oh, yes, ment to say to DrSkid: I think it is a really Good Idea to consider 42 weeks as your 'cut off' and take anything earlier as a bonus, rather than get yourself upset.
I also hate the comments/phone calls/raised eyebrows - gah!
Also, remind yourself: as a rule, babies are much easier to look after inside you rather than outside ...

Some stupid unobservant person said to me today "Goodness, are you pregnant??" and I just could not resist to jump back, look at my bump with horror and go "What?? What do yo mean?? Is that what that is?"
Heehee, cheap shot I know, quite likely not all that funny, but their mortified face made me giggle for the rest of the day when I remembered.

Pixie - but can you sing like that ??
I am way too breathless to speak...
You are doing so well at still being around with bump rather than babes-in-arms!
BTW, I dreamed last night that you'd had your babies, 2 boys BTW, and although you had a VB, they were stitching you up in theatre whilst the boys were BFing like fury...

Congrats to EmLouT, your little one has a lovely name and I'm sure he is small and cute Hope all is well with you both.

DH and I are going out for a meal with PIL (his parents) this evening that should be.... interesting..... They are a bit old fashioned, even though they are both only in their late 50s. MIL has been silent about Baby TLC for most of the pregnancy and has never actually said the word 'baby' to me or DH. Don't think she'll be able to deny it this evening or for much longer as my due date is NEXT WEEK

Hope everyone else is planning to have a fun evening. I am very hungry, can't wait to get my dinner!

By the way, MummyElk your last post made me laugh out loud!

mumofsevenplusfour · 23/02/2010 18:42

DRSKID know how irritating it is when overdue and people phone to see if yove had it particular parents and inlaws who should know better . at times i felt like shouting down the phone yes we had it weeks and just didnt bother to tell you . really sympathise with you .
the worse ones are those who meet you as you waddle down the street and ask havent had the baby yet and you wonder if they think you always look like a beached whale .
pixieonaleaf its when they treat you like a 2 year and say no your not allowed and refuse to give you a reason and how dare you ask why thats when i get really irritated
feeling slightly more positive as spoken to 2 people today with positive cs experiences

Iwonka · 23/02/2010 19:01

OMG I just lost my mucous plug! I know this doesn't mean that I am about to give birth or anything but it's a sign that something's happening, right? My DH was pretty damn excited!!!!

mumofseven, I am sorry that you are going through all this stress, I am sure things will all turn out well. Here are the contact details of my hypnobirthing coach: Sophie Burch, www.calmbirthcalmbaby.com - on there you will be able to find her phone number and email address. I really hope she is able to help you. I have confidence that she can. All the best with that.

Pixie, I too was thinking you would be posting a birth announcement sometime later on!!! How are you feeling, excited, panicked?

EmLou, congratulations on the great news! Enjoy your new baby!

Hope everyone else has had a great day!
