hi all
back from manic busy weekend in london and just catching up so forgive the lack of name checking...
lovely to hear about new babies arriving/milk coming in etc!! so exciting!!
Not so exciting for the waitees and big commiserations to is it mawbroon with stop and start labour?! it will alllllll be worth it in the end but i can imagine every hour is being a perfect pig at the moment for you, i hope things get going soon.
pixie did we ever find out what your surprise was from DH and DS? I can't remember if you posted about it.....
Am having the LAZIEST day in the world, actually fell asleep this morning again after DD went to the CM, have NO plans at all and frankly am keeping it that way. London was lovely but knackering so feel like i have some excuse anyway!
Nothing new here. Have some sort of trapped nerve down my left leg, it's Ailment of the Hour so am ignoring it, and current uterine twinges are, er, pinging their way right down, my, er, clitoris so probably just as well i'm on my own, due to the odd yelping noises i keep making!!!
I don't even have the TV on here. It's very peaceful. V happy.

DrSkidaddle · 01/03/2010 13:54

mawbroon - really hope it starts properly very very soon, you must be going mad

Had sweep no. 2 this morning and no changes in my cervix since last sweep and head is not engaged - looks like it's induction for me too But still have another 6 days before then so I suppose I shouldn;t give up hope just yet...

Hi everyone else, sorry only have a couple of mins so can;t respond properly..

ilovegreenbeans · 01/03/2010 13:58

hey hey, it's finally March!!

(and considering I'm due in 1 week and am something like #23 on the list, I think we're in for a lot of arrivals soon!)

ilovegreenbeans · 01/03/2010 14:04

Oh, and Arcadie, I've just requested to join the fb group too- ER

Caitni · 01/03/2010 14:31

Afternoon ladies

Firstly, happy birthday to Pixie - hoping the silence means that your DH and DS had a lovely surprise for you and that those girls didn't decide they wanted to share their mum's birthday!!

Pacific crikey about the CP, but good news on the blood cell count. And happy birthday to your DS1 as well! Hoping you're all enjoying the day after a relatively restful night of sleep

IWCAS glad you enjoyed your glam night out with baby daddy - another fan of lots of pillows/cushions here

DrSkid sorry to hear the sweep didn't go as well as you'd hoped. Don't want to give false hope, but babies often don't engage til labour starts in second/subsequent pregnancies, cervixes can change in a matter of hours and the efficiency of sweeps inducing labour seems to really apply at 41+ weeks (I know you know all this - I just don't like to think of you as ). Evening primrose oil is supposed to help with the release of natural prostaglandins (for ripening cervix). I'm taking them orally at the moment but you can also (TMI!) insert them vaginally...anyway, 6 days for babyskid to appear on their own accord [fingers crossed]

Smac fingers crossed your sweep sets things off but I can understand why you're sticking with ELCS tomorrow. Either way you'll be meeting your baby soon

BusyMissIzzy you've certainly been busy! Glad to hear that so many rooms are finished so your baby girl can appear anytime

Mawbroon really hope things are progressing for you xx

Donttry I think today is your due date, yes? Hope the full moon/high tide worked for you

Ang big waves to my fellow 2 Marcher! Only 1 more day til we're offically at term (caitni also taps bump impatiently )

DB gosh, you're busy. I'd second whoever said your DH may just need to be told that you have to take it easier. Eg, how about just sending the ironing out to the local drycleaners (this is my plan for after the birth, once DH is finished paternity leave since not doing it isn't an option for us either). Your anxiety about the birth is normal (no, you are not a wimp - you successfully delivered a healthy baby after a very difficult labour!) but being this busy/stressed is probably not helping. So sorry to sound bossy, just worried about you

Iwonka been wondering how you're getting on? Are you too busy snuggling with a newborn ?

Well ladies, still no action here but the sun is shining (not that I've been outside yet!), March is here and the March babies are arriving - yay!!

Plan is to have a lovely waddle walk in the sunshine

hecklephone · 01/03/2010 14:36

It's March! Let the flurry of babies begin! AND let the weather finally turn a lot better and more spring-like. When I was up for the loo last night it occurred to me that getting up for night feeds, even in the next month or so, is going to be freeeeeezing

Still getting a real shooting groin pain and it's taking me AGES to walk DD to nursery, even though it's only 5 mins away! (still, I couldn't walk her to nursery because of illness until quite recently, so actually I'm quite glad I can do it, even if it is at a snail-like pace!)

DB I agree with the others - life really IS too short for ironing. I never do it, and no-one's ever told me how creased I look (although perhaps they talk about me behind my back? ) And it just sounds like you need to take a step back, forget about anything which isn't really necessary to deal with and HAVE A REST. And that's an order.

I'm having DH probs - whereas my mood has improved lately, his is getting worse and he just doesn't seem very happy. I think he's starting to feel properly neglected, but I really don't know what to do about it. And it's surely only going to get worse after DD2 arrives and I'm even busier and more tired. How on earth am I supposed to get him back onside? I'm just worried because I really need us to be a team just now but we just don't feel very close. He's actually pretty much rebelling against the whole becoming a parent again, having to be a grown-up - he just bought a highly inappropriate and quite frankly dangerous man-toy (a pair of powerisers - jumping stilts) and last night spent most of the evening building lego. Honestly, I wouldn't need Freud to work out what's going on with him . Anyway, I guess we just need to have a proper conversation about this, but I'm kind of dreading it. I know it'll all work out and hopefully he'll kind of wise up after the baby arrives, but I just wish we could enjoy this bit together, instead of him going about in a huff like some kind of neglected child.

Enough moaning, I'm off to try and sort out more nursery stuff and resist eating a second chocolate brownie (yeah, right!)

annamama · 01/03/2010 14:53

Heckle - my DH is talking about travelling the world and he's looking on ebay for a motorbike... It was the same last time I was heavily pregnant. I wouldn't worry too much, I think he'll be alright once your baby has arrived. Just some sort of male escapism.

OP posts:
hecklephone · 01/03/2010 16:03

anna glad to know I'm not the only one with a husband in denial/having a man-child crisis. Perhaps we just need to revoke their eBay privileges til after the babies turn up...

TakeLovingChances · 01/03/2010 16:35

Hello ladies. Guess what? I have a baby now! I'm mummy TLC!!!!!!!

Adam Nathaniel born Saturday 27th February 2010, weighed 8lb6oz. He is sooooo cute!

Just home from hospital there now (my first objective was to get him in the door and into his moses basket, then to get typing on MN to tell you all).

I will read all the posts I missed out on over the weekend whenever I get a chance... whenever that may be

Thanks for all your help and support to me when I was expecting; you're all superstars

PacificDogwood · 01/03/2010 16:35

heckle and anna, my DH is into all things desired by juvenile boys at all times, baby expected or not:
fast cars - tick
hifi/home entertainment - tick
camera gear - tick
computer stuff - tick
magazines re all of the above - tick

Gah and double gah! I swear there are times a really think I am only working to support his ebay habits!!

Sympathies, heckle! TBH, I think my DH improved from child to child, so maybe you just have to keep going ....

PacificDogwood · 01/03/2010 16:37

Oh, TLC, cross posted with you: Massive congratulations!!
I bet he is cute . And love the names. You just enjoy - hope you are well as well.

westlondongirl · 01/03/2010 17:18

Hi Ladies,
Congrats to the new mums! Hope Mawbroon is doing better.

Had my first sweep today and another booked for wednesday. If the little one isn't out by next Tuesday they will induce. Has anyone had any success with a sweep? TMI but she said she could get a finger in there so things are moving along.

DrSkidaddle · 01/03/2010 17:22

yaaaaay TLC - well done you! Massive congrats and enjoy your little boy

heckle sympathies re your DH's crisis - I suppose slightly better for it to happen before rather than after the baby arrives. Agree that a big chat is needed - even though it is obvious to you, he may have no idea what he is doing.

caitni - thank you, you are so nice and it is good to hear all that stuff again even though I did sort of know it. Went for a 4 mile walk just now and can def feel the effects so you never know a 1st March baby is still possible. Hope you enjoyed your waddle brisk walk too

Had forgotten about Iwonka - yes I bet she is cuddling her baby right now too

Caitni · 01/03/2010 17:28

drskid 4 miles - wow! good work . Embarrassed to say I've not actually been out for my waddle yet - cleaned the windows outside instead and made more flapsjacks (and I'm contemplating having a third flapjack ). And just been watching telly and wasting time on t'internet too (resolves to go on a walk at some point this evening).

TLC congratulations . Gorgeous names, a great weight and bet he is the cutest thing. Well done and hope you're enjoying your brand new baby

Sorry to hear about man-child crises.

DrSkidaddle · 01/03/2010 17:36

caitni - I'm sure flapjacks are almost as effective as walks...

westlondongirl - is this your first? if so I think 1 finger is very encouraging - if it's your 2nd or more then your cervix is probably like that anyway! I've had 2 sweeps so-far and nothing yet but here's hoping....

BusyMissIzzy · 01/03/2010 17:54

Oh TLC congrats! Nathaniel was top of our list for boy names. Lovely!

Happy March everyone!

westlondongirl · 01/03/2010 17:58

Hi DrSkidaddle it is my first. Hope you will have a result soon!

Arcadie · 01/03/2010 18:02

TLC Loving the names - well done you for making a lovely baby boy!

DrSkid I had 3 sweeps with DD and I'm sure they really sped up the induction process - but again 6 days is a LONG TIME and (shhh) do you have to be induced on term +14 or do you actually just want to get on with it? Understandable.

WLG 1 finger is a good sign indeed. No such thing as TMI on this thread either.

Started with the tried and tested method of getting baby out on time. Expressing a pitiful few drops of colostrum every day ( more comes out each time). Apparently the oxytocin boost is a good thing. Bless him DS (4and a month) watched me do it today and was desperate to have a go of the pump.
"Mummy, can I try getting milk out of your boobies? "
Me: "No."
DS: "there's not much coming out"
Me: "No indeed"

It's toughening up the nips though so hopefully less gushing blood nastiness when DC3 minces them latches on.

annamama · 01/03/2010 18:04

Congrats TLC! Sounds like you're really happy...

Heckle - I wouldn't make a big deal out of it all, it could make it worse. I just say to my DH something like "I am heavily pregnant you know, I don't really want to travel the world right now or look at motorbikes, I just wanna take it easy and focus on the birth" and then he's like "yeah sure, sorry". He is excited about having the baby though, which I'm sure your DH is too really!

Impressed by those going for long/brisk walks or even considering it!

Good luck with sweeps and if anyone is in labour or think they might be in labour soon! Is there anyone we're missing? Manda? Pixie? Bluey? Who else...?

OP posts:
swingsofglory · 01/03/2010 18:06

Hurrah - it's March. I'm not a fan of February and it's been glorious here all day. It's so fantastic to be able to get outside again without freezing or getting drenched.

Congratulations TLC and all other new Mums since I last posted - sorry am scared of listing in case I miss anyone out. Many many congrats to you all anyway.

heckle sorry to hear about DH. Mine INSISTED on going to watch a football match on my due date last time round. Fortunately I didn't go into labout until a week later - but it is a bit trying.

DB welcome back. I am another non-ironer. I just don't unless it's absolutely necessary (going to a wedding or something) and I always make DH do his own. Funnily enough he was an enthusiastic ironer before we met and has now adopted my slovenly ways, although he doesn't need to looks smart for work which helps.

Pacific hope you're not too overwhelmed by the chicken pox - not fun. Still keeping fingers crossed in this house that DD hasn't got it. Will need to keep my legs crossed too as incubation period finishes a couple of days after my due date.

annamamma - how the heck do you get through the rollers at soft play while pregnant? I had trouble with them the one and only time I took DD round the 'big' section of the soft play centre when I was a size 10-12! Fortunately DD is a chilled child and is happy to hang out in the small child area these days while I waddle about.

wlgirl 'fraid not. I had a sweep last time round and it did nothing but make me bleed. The prostaglandin worked the next day though, so maybe it did do some good but I'm dubious. It must work for some people though otherwise they wouldn't do it, surely. It can't be that much fun to administer after all.

Waves to everyone else. Who's next then, who's going to be next? Won't be me - I'll probably still be here into April if last time round is anything to go by...hope somebody else will be left on this thread!

donttrythisathome · 01/03/2010 18:50

Congrats TLC!! Lovely names - my brother has an Adam.

Waves to everyone else.

Henrietta · 01/03/2010 19:20

Shroomer · 01/03/2010 19:49

hecklephone Can your DH do this yet? Scary stuff.

My DP is into HiFis, rock music, road cycling, and, dare I say it, model railways, and mags about all of those. Congrats TLC!
