Getting us started with our new thread!

Will cut and paste the most up to date list so we know where we are.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Biccy · 26/01/2010 09:01

Morning, congratulations Hurry, love the name William. Must go and read your thread - am hoping to chill while dd at preschool later, so hopefully time then.

Thanks for your good wishes CTOFN. Wow, is it really 4 weeks since Olivia was born? That has gone quickly to me, so that means it won't feel like long until we all have our babes with us now.

No movement from me last night, managed to get a bit more sleep half upright on various pillows. It's my due date by dates today (my official due date was from the scans). DD was also due 26th by dates and labour started on 30th, so I'm trying to at least be patient until then!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 26/01/2010 09:14

Biccy - my DS due date was 26/1 - he was born 4/2; my DD1 due date was 30/1 - she was born 9/2; DD2 due date was 7/1 - thank god for the ELCS and not going overdue this time!

Methinks there must be something in the air in April/May for me .

PS - we have quite a lot of "expected" people from the beginning of the month that haven't been on here in months. Am tempted to put out a general call for notice of any births of people who posted on here so we can clean up the list. What do you all think? Oops - am I bit anal.. don't answer, I know I am .

And YES, I'm still bloody awake! 1am I got up with Olivia, she's sleeping - like a baby - and DH keeps telling me to go back to bed - but I just can't. Perhaps a stiff drink might help - G&T anyone?

sockmonkey · 26/01/2010 09:40

Morning!

Still nothing happening here. Don't know what is worse, those of you who keep getting signs then nothing, or just nothing happening at all.

I managed to spill an enire mug of hot chocolate down my arm this morning. It really hurts (yes I know I'm a wimp, but you get nice drugs for labour).

DH is fretting cos I have MW appt today and she will try a sweep again. I keep telling him NOTHING will happen. I think baby is happy where she is, especially as she gets a fairly constant supply of chocolate and biscuits. Who would want to leave? I think she will have to be evicted, rather than leaving of her own accord.

mama2moo · 26/01/2010 10:01

I noticed that the list is still very long. Put the call out ctofn

Dp has just text to say that someone has gone into his with a sickness bug! I have told him to come home asap.

What would happen if you were ill in labour??

2 days overdue now, have had absolutely nothing - not even the stop/start contractions that everyone else is getting. No mucus, nothing. Don't even have leaky boobs as a consolation

Getting frustrated now as there are no signs whatsoever of labour being imminent. Got a MW appointment today and have a feeling I am going to be told I am nowhere near going into labour.

fibilou, I had no signs with dd until a show at about 5am on the Tuesday morning and less than 24 hours later she was with me, having started contractions half an hour apart mid morning on the Tuesday, and progressed in beautifully text book fashion from there on.

yangymac, I feel like your twin - we got pregnant 1st month we tried with dd, and textbook labour. This time I miscarried three times before finally getting 'properly' pregnant, (was on the verge of giving up because I couldn't cope with the emtions of it all) and I completely agree that the 'false' labour is depressing. I can't help remembering how elated I was feeling at about 10 on Sunday night, thinking, 'just a few hours and I'll be holding my baby', it was so full on and midwives were so convinced. I just keep crying about it. And DP got wonderfully excited too. Can't imagine either of us getting excited now, as we won't believe it until the head's actually crowning.

mama2moo, I think I am evidence of what happens if you are ill in labour - we think my sickness was actually a bug (tmi here, but 11pm vomit contained my undigested 8am breakfast, I was definitely not right) and of course I had the cold too (now down to catarrh only). So, too right, avoid it at all costs!

sazlocks · 26/01/2010 11:54

Morning all
agree CToFN put out the call - some of them were on the TTC thread with me and rather selfishly I would love to know that they are ok and have babe in arms by now

huge congrats hurrydownthechimney - great weight and love the name William.

Getting on with labour vibes for those of you ladies in waiting. Stalling labour and crossed legs for those of you who are ladies in waiting for your ELCS.

All grand here - got to go up to the hospital later for pre ELCS tests etc and then to hosp for 8 in the morning. So just need to hold on til then. No real signs of labour approaching but as we all know that might mean nothing !

So I won't be on again until I have any news. CToFN is my text buddy so will be texting sometime tomorrow to let her know what happened !

Its been great sharing this journey with you all and wish lots of luck to those still waiting.

See you on the other side
xx

maygirl · 26/01/2010 12:45

Congrats Hurrydown!!!
Due on Thursday here, no signs so far and feeling surprisingly patient. However midwife told me last week my best chance of a VBAC is to labour around the 40 week point, so feel I should try and get things going. Just been to aerobics again much to the excitement of the other ladies, lots of talk of getting towels ready etc! Taking DS to softplay in half an hour, wonder if there'll be something I can bounce on!! 2 hr walk round town yesterday. Going to try and book acupuncture or something holistic in for this week too. Think though that I can actually bounce around like this means body nowhere near to surrendering to labour
I'm going to be last left on this thread!

Hope you have a lovely ELCS tomorrow sazlocks

Laura233 · 26/01/2010 12:58

Hi all,

Haven't been on here for a very long time, but am now in too much pain with my pelvis to do alot else.

I have my stretch and sweep booked for tomorrow... how painful is it? I am a total wimp and getting worried about it.

I have been having period pains since 5am this morning but not contraction like just like normal period pains, everytime I think I am getting signs of it starting off it seems to fade away again. I seem to be crying at everything this morning as well... looking forward to having little one here, but am also very worried about the pain of labour... I dont think I have a very high pain threshold!!

Congrats to everyone that has had their little ones!!

Laura

mama2moo · 26/01/2010 13:26

sazlocks Good luck for tomorrow It must be so nice knowing that this time tomorrow you will have your baby in your arms

laura233 From what I have read on here sweeps are ok if your cervix is getting ready for labour. By the sounds of it yours is I am hoping to have one next week if baby hasnt made an appearance but will ask the mw to stop if it hurts.

bigpreggybelly Congratulations on baby Henry

Am annoyed with myself for thinking something might happen today. DD was due on a Friday as well and my waters started leaking on the Tuesday, I woke up on the Wednesday in nice labour and had her that day.

Am now telling myself to prepare for an induction. Im going to look it up today in the hope that being ready means it wont come to that

devotion · 26/01/2010 13:41

bigpreggybelly & Hurrydown - congratulations to you both!

x

sockmonkey · 26/01/2010 13:42

Yangy I should think before I post... sorry it must be properly frustrating to get all the signs then nothing.

Just got back from MW... I had not one but two sweeps (student MW was there and wanted to have a go). Laura it's a little bit uncomfortable, but not really painful. I guess it's what you'd expect from someone putting their hand up the "exit".
It may not sound funny, but while student had her hand up there regular MW did a massive burp (just had rushed her dinner) and we all ended up in hysterics.

I had a show while they did first sweep, and everything looks to be in a good position to go. If not I'm booked in for Saturday evening to get induced.

Laura233 · 26/01/2010 13:48

Hi Sockmonkey

Thanks for the reassurance... I had a spectrum after a bleed at the hospital a couple of weeks ago, so i'm guessing it is going to be similar to that... hopefully it will kick start things and at least be worthwhile having.

How far gone will you be when they induce you? I dont think they are waiting for the full 14 days in Swindon at the mo.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 26/01/2010 14:29

Yey to Bigpreggybelly - although very of your belly shrinking fast! Hello again to Laura. Hope things get going for you soon. You're in good company here though with lots of overdue ladies,

Sazlocks - so excited for you. Best of luck for tomorrow, not that I'm sure you need it. Look forward to your text. x

crumpette · 26/01/2010 14:59

oh good! just checking in for news of hurry.. yay

biccy and yangymac cannot imagine being in labour and then it stopping, horrid for you. Hoping all the contracting you've done will make the final eviction nice and fast for you both!?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 26/01/2010 15:44

Yey - the call to action for the missing mums is proving fruitful. Natapillar just appeared on the postnatal thread announcing birth of baby boy, Caleb on 11 Jan weighing 8lb 7oz - 4 days late and only 2 mins of pushing! Lucky girl. So here's new list thus far - will update tomorrow with Sazlocks for sure!

Good to see the call out is working

Well, just back from the cinema and I had about 4 or 5 contractions throughout the film! Now I am home - Nothing!! They were different ones to what I have been having so fingers crossed!

Im starting to get quite emotional about leaving dd when Im in labour - Just the hormones but the thought of spending at least a night away from her is really getting to me.

Good luck to everyone for tonight - Sending big/real contraction vibes your way
