sazlocks · 20/01/2010 06:20

Morning all - huge congrats to chickbean - fab birth story and beautiful name. Congrats as well to thegrumpallo - another lovely name.

MOAN ALERT
Starting to struggle a bit which takes a lot for me to admit. 39 + 3 and its not so much being heavily pregnant but more being heavily pregnant and having a toddler. DS is 2 today (hurrah!) and very gorgeous but very full on. He has decided that now would be a good time to drop any sort of day time nap which has come as a shock as until now he has been going down for 2 hours during the day. I am still persevering with putting him down but when he is still laughing, shrieking and chattering an hour later I admit defeat !
I am knackered though with not sleeping much at night and then full on toddler world all day . I have no idea how I am going to cope with a newborn as well.
I do need to put my moaning in context though and say that although I have no family at all nearby, I am very lucky in that my DH is very hands on. We both work part time (when I am at work) so he is normally here 5 days out of 7. We are completely skint but do get to spend lots of time together as a family so I know I am really fortunate to have that support and we will be able to work things out together.

I also know that I only have one more week of this because if baby hasn't made an appearance by this time next week then I am booked for a c section on Weds 27th Jan. Can't come soon enough.
Good luck to everyone else needing birthing vibes

mama2moo · 20/01/2010 08:02

mama2b5 I was hoping to wake up to your birth announcement!! Dp is refusing to 'help' get this baby out. I would rather get it on with Gordon Brown at the moment though!!

sazlocks My 19mo dd has completely changed her napping recently. She used to sleep for 1/2 hours in the morning and now she wont go down until after lunch. Have you tried changing the time? Happy birthday to your ds, I hope you have a great day

Last night I had awful stomach cramps but in the middle of my bump and felt really sick. It last about an hour. Then I had pains in my lower bump. What is my body doing??!!

DP is being a massive arse at the moment. Im sure he wakes dd up on purpose in the mornings. Funny that she sleeps until 8.30am at the weekends but when he is working she wakes just as he is going. Ahhhhh, he is such an idiot. Rant over.

Have a great day everyone and come on babies - Time to come out now!

alibobins · 20/01/2010 09:14

sazlocks happy birthday to your Ds

Well Jacob decided that 5.30 was morning and wouldn't settle. I can't really complain though as he slept from 7.30 just waking for feeds at 11 and 3 x x

Good luck showme sending contraction vibes your way x x

Mama2b5 · 20/01/2010 09:18

Hurrydownthechimmney - has there been any baby developments???? good luck!!

Happy Bday 2 Sazlocks lil big man @ being 2 today !
Its hard when money is so tight but great to get support from close family if and when needed.

Oh dear mama2moo - im sorry DP is being such a ermm prat! hopefully it wont last forever and he will be a real nice guy soon!

Up after a rough nite, tossing and erm painfully turning poor DH no sleep at all! got to do some charity work DC have donated some clothes and some pocket money for "Help in Haiti" today so with that and MW appt hopefully that will get things started with LO coming, totally ready now!

also does anyone know how soon you can travel with a LO need to find out as going away urgently end of Feb, can LO go on my passport???? never done this before so aint got a clue! talk in PM - bye

hurrydownthechimneytonight · 20/01/2010 09:24

heysa mama nope no updates as yet! seems everything stopped which is annoying!!

seeing midwife again at 11:20 to check babies heartbeat, temp etc.

Would quite like to go for a walk but weather not to good will see how things go!

running a live thread on childbirth keeping updates on there.

Thinkg LO needs own passport im quite sure........ mama whens your due date?

mama2moo · 20/01/2010 09:43

mama2b5 I doubt very much they will let anyone travel without a passport no matter how young. Do you live near a passport office? Newport is our closest and thats 4 hours away! You can pay to fast track a passport and get it in a few days I think.

Here is the passport website We have used the fast track option before and it is fast.

crumpette · 20/01/2010 09:59

mama2b5 when I had DD she was very little when we went away, I panicked and realised I didn't have time to get her a passport the normal way, so I looked it up online and then called them and made an appointment (just behind Victoria station in London) and they did the application in the same day for me. Had to take along photos birth certificate etc. Was really quick and passport arrived within a few days. You definitely need to get baby their own passport, they can't be added onto yours.

hurrydownthechimney ! Good luck, hope things get started for you without any meddling Don't go for a walk, sit back and put your feet up you need the rest!

Biccy · 20/01/2010 10:31

On the passport front, just to say that everyone I know seems to panic about how to get a photo of the baby with its eyes open... when I did dd's, when she was 6 weeks, I checked, and, 3.5 years ago anyway, babies didn't need to have their eyes open. Just thought I'd mention it, as I know people who have spent a fortune on photo after photo trying to get an eyes open one.

I am trying to be very calm and 'can't upset me' today. DP got home last night quite early, but still did nothing because the band have split up.... and he's just slowly getting out of bed now... am I being unfair, or should he not be getting up in the morning to help me with dd and then do his work rather than just lolling about? Every little thing is now getting to me. I feel murderous because whenever I park the car I do it so that I can put dd in on the pavement side, but then he takes it out and never fails to park it with her seat on the road side, despite repeated requests. So I was struggling to get her in this morning, and then started to feel murderous towards the car driver who wanted to wait while I strapped her in - I'd have rather everyone just got out of the way!

Aargh. Am starting to feel resentful like he's spoiling my maternity leave. Is it just the hormones?

devotion · 20/01/2010 10:48

hurrydownthechimney - good luck!

Happy Birthday Sazlocks!!! have a great day!

Well I thought things were happening yesterday. 7.30pm felt wet so I had a check and knickers were wet, clear and non smelling - sorry!

So popped a pad in, while later it was hard to tell so I took it out and as soon as i did my pants were damp again. Showed dh for his opinion and he agreed it did not look like wee or discharge so I changed my pants and straight away more again.

Convinced it was my waters, so called mw and she came out and checked me over and did internal... - waters still intact!

But it's not wee I protested and she agreed as I showed her it in my pants and she said its discharge but just more watery.

I was convinced as yesterday I had dull pain at the bottom of my tummy, a few contractions and a real heaviness feeling after i thought my waters broke.

I was a little disappointed but glad in a way because as soon as your waters break you are up against the clock for labour to start and I could have lost out giving birth at home if nothing started or started to long after like dd1.

So back to the waiting game!

Biccy · 20/01/2010 10:53

devotion, I know what you mean. I'm really hoping my waters don't break too as I don't want to be up against that clock given my wish for a home birth. They didn't break for me until I was in the second stage last time. But, I'm guessing your discharge changing so much must be a sign that things are happening... sending you some labouring, but non-waters-breaking vibes.

Talking of waters breaking Good luck hurrydown, hope things start for you soon. Get twiddling those nipples!!

skidoodle · 20/01/2010 11:00

WMDO

No, please don't doubt yourself. Well of course you will, we all do, but you are dealing with a baby for whom sleeping (or lying) on the back is excruciatingly painful. In your position I would be looking to help the baby sleep in whatever position worked.

londonlottie is right, they don't know what causes SIDS, so all we have to go on is correlations that can't be proven or even isolated. I think it makes sense to pay attention to those studies if your baby is well and it makes no significant difference which way they sleep. That is not your situation.

devotion I've been having similar pains to yours and have become a little obsessed with what is going on in my pants

One of these fine (and frequent) times I go for a wee, there will be something interesting there - waters, show, mucous plug. SOMETHING!

sockmonkey · 20/01/2010 11:16

chickbean Woo!! What a birth story. Well done my lovely x

hurrydown hope all is going well for you. Fingers crossed.

devotion I had the same happen to me with DS2. I was convinced it was my waters that had gone... was told it was just a watery show. After DS2 was born they noted that they did not know when my waters went, so I reckon I was right & they were wrong

mama2moo · 20/01/2010 12:29

devotion When I had dd my waters started leaking. I was examined and told my waters hadnt gone - I changed my pad and she agreed that it must have been my hind waters because it was so wet. Does it smell really sweet? If it does then it probably is your waters.

I went into labour the next day with dd and had her that evening Fingers crossed for you

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/01/2010 13:23

Goodness me - one day away and so much to read! Many congratulations to the new arrivals!

WMDO - well done on making a decision and getting some much deserved sleep! You must have been ecstatic. As others have said here, 12-15 years ago the advice was put babies on their tummies. At the same time as the guidelines changes, so came in the information about not smoking around babies, not co-sleeping and so many other variables. Who can tell which is the overriding factor...

MK - I'm still in baby heaven too!

On a little gloat.... my best friend came to visit yesterday on a trip back to the UK from Zambia so had a bottle of champers but of course one glass for me and I have to hit the sack at about 8.30! So DH entertained and they had another bottle or so of plonk. DH was on the "late shift" for feeding Olivia and at gone midnight he hadn't brought her up I came down all hormonal and grumpy expecting them to be pissed and not being in charge of 3 week old!

DH had set up a quilt on the floor as a mattress, a couple of pillows and a quilt over him, Olivia was asleep in her chair next to him, he had one arm lolloped over her, his ear pretty much next to her mouth so he didn't sleep through her cries... and upon me waking him grumpily asking "what's going on"... he told me to go back to bed, that I needed to have at least one decent night's sleep and he had decided that it was his turn, despite the fact that he had to be in town at 9am and wouldn't be home until 11pm tonight!

I can tell you I charged back upstairs, spread myself out diagonally across the bed, grinning from ear to ear! Trouble is, I still didn't sleep totally soundly as I kept wondering if he would hear her when she woke or whether he would be in a comatose sleep because of having a few glasses of wine! Poor chap, can't win!

This morning, however, I felt the best I have in 9 months!

Also - I put Olivia in her big cot whilst I was tidying the other DCs bedrooms this morning. She went off to sleep and is currently still sound asleep 4 hours later. She really seems to love it in there. I could well be moving her to the nursery sooner rather than later if this keeps up!

Sorry for not addressing other individual posts today - really must log on more regularly again!

Mama2b5 · 20/01/2010 16:39

Hi all thanks for passport info will deff have to sort it out for LO and the 2 DD - the boys cant travel still under the state and impossible to get passports, so dont want to leave all, hard for sitter for 2 weeks so girls coming!
Had a "Big Show" in the gp office but then was told baby is not engaged so - oh well!
was also told to come back at 41 weeks yeh right!!!!!!! for a sweep or to be induced!
Also was told if labour starts not to wait not to be fobbed off and head in to hospital for 3rd baby will come quicker judging on labour times from DDs. no pain so just getting on with things and still packing bits for " Haiti" shipment!

oh what a shame HDTC - No more labour progress!
Biccy - sorry your dealing with all that it will get better!

sockmonkey · 20/01/2010 17:17

Seen by midwife today, who attempted a sweep, but no luck. She has booked me an appointment to see her next week for another sweep and to book an induction date, but said she hopes I don't make it... in the nicest possible way

DH is getting increasingly worried that I won't have had this baby by his birthday. He has plans to go out with his friend and "doesn't want to be worried about me going into labour while he's out". Thanks for that!

chickbean · 20/01/2010 17:26

sockmonkey - my best friend had DS2 on her DH's birthday - he sent out the following birth announcement "I told DW I wanted a P
Porsche for my birthday but she gave me a son - and I've already got one of those."

mama2moo · 20/01/2010 19:31

cantthinkoffunnyname Your dh sounds lovely

chickbean LOL at the birth announcement!!

mama2b5 Thats promising that you had a show. I have read that only 1st defo engage before labour - Subsequent babies sometimes dont engage until labour starts.

My 2nd Christmas present finally arrived from idiot dp today - It is a lovely acrylic print of dd that we took just before Christmas. I must say I am impressed and he is in the good books for now

Had a few pains this afternoon but they stopped - Theres a surprise!!

Mama2b5 · 20/01/2010 21:49

ok well the show just keeps on coming more and more blood still no pain loads of movement though! all in house are sleeping and im just catching up on emails!
How r u devo??? and happybump????
Mama2moo have you signed up for the mumsnet text buddy scheme that lovely - Mistletoes kisses and CTOFN have set up????
may be good idea so someone can keep us posted on labour and delivery info!

Has anyone got any ideas how long it will take to register so i can apply for passport? DH has changed date 2 early March to allow LO to have injections abit worried i may have to delay until these things get sorted! its been 9 years since last LO and i remember just walking into register but i have heard they make an appt for this now?????

ouch, ouch oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh

mama2b5 You ok this morning? Hope baby is on it's way for you... or arrived!!

mama2moo · 21/01/2010 08:55

mama2b5 How are things today?

On the passport front you need to book an appointment if you want it fast tracked. You can get one in a day if you need to although it will cost you! The IPS website is good and you can find out where your nearest office it. We have twice had to fast track them for dp because he kept loosing them!

I have been awake since 4am this morning - I hate not being able to sleep. Loads of pains but I know its not labour IYSWIM. The tops of my thighs are hurting today as well

I didnt know about the text thing, how do I get on that?

crumpette · 21/01/2010 09:42

mama2moo you email your details, name mobile number etc to the lovely mistletoe or the lovely CTFN, I think the addresses are [email protected] or [email protected] but not sure! If you go back a couple pages they will be there. Am so disorganised I didn't do it in time

yangymac you must be a bit worried I remember you mentioning your DH's previous experience and being understandably a bit stressed about it. 9lb is OK (this one was almost 9lb), if things haven't started can you ask to be induced by 40 weeks?

CTFN awww to your dh how sweet!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/01/2010 09:49

Hi - yes, Crumpette gave right info and email addresses! Also Mama2b5 emailed me last night to say she had lots of pain on top of lots of show all day yesterday!!

Watch this space! Think she's going to text me if something happens.

How exciting!
