OK everyone, here it is. Who will be first to post their announcement I wonder?

Nowhere near! My mother informed me I will have the baby on the 23rd, yikes! That's miles off! It's kinda like a jinx when your Mum says it cos 'they know best' so it must be true! Am going to start on the raspberry leaf tea soon as amazingly, I think I may be approaching the end of my mighty 'nesting list' and am feeling somewhat ready - I think all the nesting and house obsession is really your brain trying to distract you from the fact you're actually going to have a baby. Stupid household tasks seem of much graver importance to me at the moment, how that is gonna change! good luck ladies XXX

Eulalia · 16/07/2005 08:19

Congratulations MommyD!!

Glad to hear you are home now hub and family

merryberry · 16/07/2005 09:26

Oh congratulations everyone! And come on you hyper-sticky babies:-)

We're back home the last two nights, happy healthy and by some miracle, breastfeeding, depsite having to learn demand breastfeeding from home while my baby was in NICU before we got moved down to SCBU and I was able to room in!!

I'll come back online more when the RL visitors die back and catch up well then.

hub2dee · 16/07/2005 10:46

tee hee, welcome home merryberry and bundle !

pinkmama · 16/07/2005 11:00

Glad you home merry berry.

Think by end of this dh will be nervous wreck. Really thought last night was the night, had couple of humungous contractions, much different to the BH I been having. DH even got the tea tray ready (as this is what MW seemed to think was the most important preparation for my homebirth), then it all stopped. I went to bed tired and very disappointed only to have a terrible night sleep, lots of aches and pains, and then at 4am I shot out of bed with terrible cramp in my calf, poor DH thought it was all back on!

Had a good cry this morning, and feel much better now , oh the joy of hormones!

Harriett · 16/07/2005 15:07

poor you pinkmama- I have had a few horrible calf cramps this week too and my poor dh shot out of bed so quick you'd have thought he was on fire!
We are so frustrated and just want to get on with it- but I am not feeling anything other than a bit sick and tired.
and also I wish I'd had a piece of advice that I learnt not so long ago- and that is not to tell anyone your due date- as all we get are 'any news?' texts and calls now, it makes things even more frustrating!
what a winge bag I am- I must try and get positive again- this baby is coming out this weekend...

mirashark · 16/07/2005 19:15

Only 2 days over and going out of my mind with boredom. I thought I could make the most of my last 'days off' but I have fallen into the waiting game. What's worse is there's absolutely NO sign of anything happening, nothing I could even mistake for a show or a contraction. Feel I could go the whole hog and even then the baby might have to be dragged out. And like you Harriet, people are all waiting and asking, in fact the 'are you still here?' questions started over 2 weeks ago at least so it's wearing thin... moan moan. C'MON BABIES!!!

hoxtonchick · 16/07/2005 19:49

congrats to all new arrivals, commiserations to those still hanging around.

we're looking after a friend's daughter this weekend & next. i am knackered! we have ds 3.5, friend 22 months & dd 2 weeks. i have new found respect for those with 3 children & small age gaps. and i've mostly just been with the baby...

AussieSim · 17/07/2005 08:28

Just a quick checkin. Congrats to all new mums and dads. And try to enjoy your unbroken sleep and freedom those still waiting.

DS2 is now 2.5 weeks old and is doing well, breastfeeding like a champion and gaining weight nicely. It is a completely different experience to have a big robust full term baby rather than a premmie 6lber like DS1. I have been a lot more relaxed. My DH goes back to work though tomorrow and I have booked my mum in for Mon and Tues but after that I will just have to figure out how to look after myself and juggle a 2.5yo and a newborn. Any tips gratefully received.

hester · 17/07/2005 11:33

Hi everyone, just crashing in to see how you are all doing. I was originally a member of this thread but miscarried (was due July 19th). Am now 26 weeks pg and happily ensconsed on the October thread, but keen to see how everyone was getting on.

Lovely to read about the babies who have been born already - congratulations everyone. And best of luck to those about to drop

webwoman05 · 17/07/2005 16:07

Just a quick pop in to say congratulations to MommyD and Baby Bo. Lovely news and home so quickly too!

Hester: How kind of you to drop in to say hello (sorry to hear about your miscarriage but delighted you are expecting again in Oct )

AussieSim: Glad things are going well with DS2

  • think I am going to have a similar situation to you as DS2 (coming into the world tomorrow!) is according to recent scans almost double in weight to what DS1 was. Good luck when everyone returns to work/home! I'll be picking your brains for tips soon enough!

Hub: So glad your girls are back home with you. You must be as pleased as punch! The info re: Dee's elective was really helpful as last emergency c-section was very rushed and hazy! Thank you.

Anyway off to recheck my bag and organise a roast dinner for 6 (thought I might as well have a nice dinner tonight as I have got to fast from midnight tonight before c-section tomorrow!).

Good luck to everyone waiting and I hope all new mums and dads are getting some rest with new bubs!

I'll be in touch next week with our news of DS2!

xx

pinkmama · 17/07/2005 16:45

Good luck tomorrow Webwoman - really look forward to hearing from you when its all over!

Hello Hester, I was only wondering yesterday what happened to some people who were originally on this thread. So sorry about your miscarriage but really pleased to hear you are 26 weeks!

Glad things going well AussieSim, good luck for Wednesday and being on your own. I have no tips, but let us know how it goes.

Mirashark and Harriet, know what you mean about people asking when you due. I am fed up of people asking me and when I tell them they look at me horrified and say you will never go to term you are enormous - glad they all such experts on predicting on when it will arrive! Or the olther line is'cant be long now', well actually it could be another 3 weeks yet and from this position that seems like a bloody long time to me!

Eulalia, how did the party go? Envious of you feeling so fit and well, I am just a knackered grumpy awful fat lump right now!

COme on babies!!!!!!!!

Eulalia · 18/07/2005 08:43

Webwoman - GOOD LUCK for today !

Hester - congratulations on your pregnancy. Nice of you to drop by and see us.

AussieSim - hello - gosh your baby seems so 'old'! lol! Specially when some of us still have a few weeks to go. I know what you mean about bigger babies - my first was only 6.2 although not premature (late in fact) and dd was in comparison huge (8.7) and much easier. Don't know what to expect this time round.

Tips? I used to get meals prepared for my toddler while baby slept so if they were both hungry at the same time I could just grab ds's meal and let him eat while I fed the baby. You will soon slip into a routine.

Having a quiet day today - making a cake for ds's birthday tomorrow and wrapping some presents etc.

Harriett · 18/07/2005 10:58

Good morning all and I hope everyone is well. Still no baby here and I am beginning to wonder whether I did actually just swallow a beach ball and it's all just a big joke!
I have an appointment with the registrar tomorrow as will be 40+5- do you think they may give me a sweep then and there if I ask nicely (or lie on the floor and refuse to leave until they do)? I want to get this party started!
Looking forward to this week's baby stories- MrsD and Pamina3 must have had theirs (has anyone heard from MrsD?) and of course webwoman.

and if you're still waiting mirashark- I feel a competition coming on- who drops first?!!

must go as baby needs more After Eights- well, it is after 8...am...

Bagpuss30 · 18/07/2005 11:24

Morning all. Just a quick visit as the Health Visitor is coming shortly (midwife discharged us on Friday). Sorry to hear about all the bumps still waiting and getting fed up - as my mum would say, there's no such thing as a 10 month pregnancy - those babies will arrive sooner or later!

Hester, how lovely to hear from you again. I was wondering how your pg was going. Best of luck to you for the rest of it .

Merryberry, glad your ds is back home at last .

Good luck webwoman for today.

Should we start a post natal thread BTW or would it be better to wait until everyone has had their babies? I was going to start one up but thought I'd better ask as I don't want to offend anyone .

SCRUFF1 · 18/07/2005 11:29

Hi, congratulations to you Hester on your pregnancy, but so sorry to hear about the miscarriage.
I feel very guilty as I am 39 wks and already desperate for something to happen and then hear about Harriet who is 5 days over - you must be fed up , but surely they will intervene when you go tomorrow?! I have a friend who gave birth a week ago visiting today who was 3 days over but went on to having a 3 hour labour and is already 'out and about', now thats what I call text book?!!!
Does anyone have advice re rasberry leaf caps, when to take, is it ever too soon to take, how many etc etc? Thanks x

mirashark · 18/07/2005 13:22

I think this is a phantom pregnancy! I have to keep reminding myself that it's definitely going to come at SOME stage! No hosp appt until the 24th - boooo! Midwife tomorrow but they don't seem to do any internal meddling at the community midwife just friendly stuff like blood pressure etc.
Harriet have you had any show or anything remotely indicating things are in motion? I've had nothing, nothing at all. I feel it will never happen. Now everyone is saying it's a lazy boy in there, that they always keep u waiting.
Well done to everyone who's there already and hopefully be joining your ranks soon!
XXX

Harriett · 18/07/2005 14:15

hi mirashark. no hospital appointment until the 24th? that sucks! I thought you were due the same day as me (14th) so that seems quite a long way away. looks like you will be having a little leo baby, my dh is getting a little concerned that we will be having a little leo girl too as he already has one to deal with (me), the poor thing!
To get down to details, I think I have been having a little bit of a show for the past few days, it's all a bit weird down there- but I really have no idea as this is my first. I have been having strange pressure sensations but to be honest, that could just be my body saying 'no more swiss roll/ fudge cake/ after eights/ green & blacks you greedy cow'
I can't believe I am saying this but I need to feel the pain and get on with it!
sending positive labour thoughts your way!

Eulalia · 18/07/2005 15:06

pinkmama - sorry I missed you earlier. The party went well although ds had a cold and was a bit up and down. He's back to normal now though and we've just made a cake (his actual birthday is tomorrow). We plan to go to the beach tomorrow, Wed is to the open air pool and Thur is visit to soft play area so plenty to keep him happy over the next few days. You are due about the same time as me I think?? (30th)

Harriet/Mirashark - I know all about being overdue - try being 42+1!!!! my dd was due 1 April and didn't come till the 16th. Mind you I actually put off the induction date as long as poss. Harriet - they may do a sweep but usually wait till you are a week over. Baby will come and better if they come on their own really.

mrsdarcy · 18/07/2005 22:00

Hi everyone. I've posted my birth announcement on the announcements thread. Will catch up properly later.

hub2dee · 18/07/2005 22:44

mrs d's thread here

Very quick hello to all and exit to bed.

X

mirashark · 18/07/2005 23:11

Aw how nice is mrsdarcy's announcement? Congrats!

Harriet I was due 14th as well but the hospital don't see me till I am 40+10 (24th)unless of course I go into labour LOL but I will see my community midwife as normal tomorrow. I have been eating pineapple and drinking raspberry leaf tea but I am hoping this weekend the bell will finally 'ding' on this oven, I have a funny feeling about this Friday so that probably means it won't be till the following week!

pinkmama · 19/07/2005 09:54

Ahh, MrsD's announcement made me cry!

Happy Birthday to Eulalia's DS. Yes, i am due same time 29/30th. DS was born 10 days early, so that would make it around now. But DD was 10 days late and have to say thought of going another 21 days is a little too much!

I dont envy those of you who have gone over your dates. I feel badly done to because I am still pregnant at 38+!

Eulalia · 19/07/2005 10:12

Love your annoucement Mrs D - a bit of humour in there. congrats again.

pinkmama - I can see you don't know what to expect this time. I was late both times so am expecting that but I could be wrong. Obviously glad that nothing is happening today as I want ds to have his own birthday.

Made a big chocolate cake yesterday and looking forward to that at teatime with dh.

pinkmama · 19/07/2005 10:15

Eulalia, my friend had her 4th child on the 13th birthday of her 1st child. Her DD took months to forgive her for it! Keep my fingers crossed you get through today without baby appearing then, it wouldnt be good to share a birthday and I guess it might be easier for you in future to have them a good few days apart.
