Just how much movement is everyone getting? I'm 19 weeks with #2 and still only getting the occasional slight wriggle when in the bath. Perhaps this one will be a bit more chilled out than #1!

Hi everyone,

can I join please? I am due on 17 June, and also live in central London. It's my first baby and it's certainly a steep learning curve!

I had my 16 week app the other day and the midwife wouldn't listen to the baby's heartbeat; said it was policy not to. I was a little fed up after lurking on here and seeing so many of you had heard your baby. Oh well, not long until 20 week scan on 28 Jan. Look forwards to getting to know you all!

I have a 15 month old too frazzles (well, he'll be 15 months in 2 days).

Hi all, I haven't posted since an initial one because I forgot my password but I've now remembered it again and it seems a good time to re-enter the fray!

We got dates wrong initially so I'm now 17+6, due on 12 June and feeling tiny flutters (they're almost like a muscle twitching really fast - anyone else get that?). Ooh, and I've had a birthday too since my first post! Update below!

Feeling fine but inordinately worried about everything - particularly food hygiene and catching 'something' (not sure what? Swine flu?) when out and about (I 'commute' from Scotland to London weekly). Wash hands so often that they're all chapped and scruffy-looking - a far cry from three months ago, when they were all nicely manicured for my weddding!

Ho hum - anyway, just wanted to say thanks everyone for the thread, which I've been reading daily and getting a lot of encouragement from. You're a great bunch of gals and I'm looking forward to going through the next few months with you.

Hello to all newcomers.

Hope everyone is keeping well in all the cold weather.

I had another scan yesterday (16+1 wks) and I have a low lying placenta, the consultant I'm under is scanning me every 4 weeks now and I've been told the slightest bleed and I'm in hospital till the baby is born! Dh is great he is not letting me do anything at all.

Hello all the newcomers and everyone else. We seem to have gone a bit list mad in the last 24hrs! Was it Mampam who wanted her age updating on the list (would hate to age anyone prematurely!!)?

I really, really am going to phone work now and tell them i'm pregnant. I look stupidly pregnant now and definitely can't put it off any longer. Wish me luck, i'm scared!

Well, that wasn't too painful. Phoned up and manager not in today! Have left a message for her to call me when she's around, so feel a bit more relaxed now I'm waiting for a call, rather than trying to psych myself up to make one!

sunshineday that sounds a bit scary. Fingers crossed for no bleeding as all those weeks in hospital don't sound like fun at all.

I'm not in London but might be persuaded to come in to meet you all depending on how i'm feeling at the time! Haven't been into London for ages as everyone i know seems to have moved out to the country!

Welcome to all the new bumps...how lovely to have so many June babies on their way How about a London meet-up in early March, once the pavements are safer and we're through the worst of the bad weather? I'll try to think of somewhere nice and bump-friendly (easier now that the smoking ban is in place, of course )...give me a few weeks (and a chance to get over feeling siiiiick!) and I'll set up a London-meet-up thread...

Littlerobbo - so glad you've had some reassurance from the midwife...this whole pg thing is quite worrying, even when you've done it before

Gizmo - am ammused at the not recognising yourself But I do agree that a combination of ante-natal yoga and some good discussions, either with dh or therapist, might be useful to get through this. I have to admit that I'm finding this pregnancy an awful lot more scary than my previous 2, mainly due to being so much more aware of all the things that can go wrong (having supported RL and MN friends through lots of stuff over the past 5 years). So where I blithely sailed through my first pg, assuming everything was absolutely fine, I'm much more on edge now. Do you think some of that might be going on with you?

Wonder where Cadmum has got to...lost in the attic packing for Cambodia maybe?!

Fabi - I do think UCH are great. I had my first dc at the Royal Free and it was a hellish experience; dd was born in the 'old' UCH wing 2 years ago and they were amazing...the people seem to be just as good now, but the hospital is so much nicer!

Quite a bit of snow here (Essex) so been working at home the last few days and had my DD (12 months) here as can't get her up to the nursery. So not actually getting that much work done. Ah well. . .

Is anyone going to, or have you been to before, the Prima Baby Show?

I'm going to the one in London in Feb, will drive to my Dad's house as he lives just north of London, and then me and OH will get the train to the Excel. As I am likely to make some of the bigger purchases there, and taking them back on the train could be a little tricky, does anyone know if the larger bits can be delivered to us at home?

Filly Oh yes, that is it. Completely. Since having DS2 I've had (another) m/c, and supported numerous friends with premature babies, SPD, complete placenta previa (needing a 10 week stay in hospital), a catastrophic C/section that left mum and baby in ICU etc etc. It's 8 years since my first baby and my body is older and less good at coping, so I'm just less...blithe...about the whole thing. Plus I had a couple of curious depressive days when pregnant with DS2 (would go to bed fine, wake up crying and unable to get up, sort of thing), which were very similar to what happened over the weekend. All in all, I can't believe I've been surprised

Fabi you might find you can get some good recommendations if you have an antenatal class or teacher? If not, I'm guessing that other forms of antenatal exercise like aqua fit might be worth trying. I find most of the benefit comes from just getting any sort of planned exercise - with the snow and everything, I've had to stop running really early in this pregnancy and being inactive drives me potty!

I can completely comiserate with you Saucepanman my sickness has got much owrse this week - week 17! how rude! I have felt like death, all day every day! When is this "blooming" going to start?!

Just wanted to say hello, I had a due date in 1st week of July but has been moved to 24 June.

Not sure if I can feel any movement yet as I have had quite a lot of twinges all the way through and is my first so don't really know what I'm looking for! Does not feel like fluttering at all. More like sharp flicks? Maybe just tummy trouble, not lo at all?

Yes, greensnail it is me that doesn't want my age updating!! To 30 please, and if you're feeling extra energetic can you update my due date to 31st May, was 1st June but after 12 week scan they brought it forward by one whole day!!

sunshineday you need to take it easy. What a bugger it will be if you have to go into hospital for that amount of time.

Ok, silly thing to ask I know, but how big are everyones bumps getting? I'm now 19+4 and am still wearing my normal clothes, if I'm sitting for long periods I do have to undo the button on my jeans though. Have realised I'm gonna have to give in soon and buy some maternity clothes. A friend of mine is exactly 2 weeks behind me and is huge. Am beginning to think my little nipper isn't growing properly.
