Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
greensnail · 15/12/2009 09:20

Morning all. I've just had a phone call from the hospital saying my bloods are no worse, and have ruled out anything more sinister which is very reassuring. Still have to go in again on thursday for more monitoring, but things are looking much more positive.

Still thinking of you mampam

RnB · 15/12/2009 11:08

That's great news greensnail!

How are things now with your dh mampam. Sending all my best wishes to you.

madamefreckle how lovely to have heard the heartbeat I have the midwife on Thursday, so am hoping to hear my baby then...

Why have I got such a big bump?? I've been in maternity clothes for weeks - there's no way I could possibly wear my pre-pg clothes. I wasn't this big with my boys at this stage!

mampam · 15/12/2009 13:58

Hi all. Went well with GP yesterday. She seems to think that DH can hopefully get through this without AD's. She thinks that now he has had his big blowout as such that it should be only up from now on. I don't think Dh could hit lower than what happened on Saturday to be honest.

She has told DH to keep taking the Diazapam prescribed to him at the hospital but if he feels like it to take half at a time. He has done this today and he seems so much better. GP did say that it's Diazapam that will be making his behaviour even more erratic and vacant etc. I described DH's behaviour to her as like talking to an elderly person who is losing their marbles.
Now he hasn't been taking as much of the Diazapam he seems more back to his normal self. I'm so glad because it was awful wondering how long he was going to be 'out of it' for and how that would have an affect on DC's. As it happens DC's have been great and really well behaved. I've told them DH has had really bad flu which affected his head quite badly. Being children they haven't questioned me.

DH got another appointment with GP on Thurs to see how he is and discuss counselling and whether he needs AD's etc.

Thank you everyone for your concern and support.

I too have a huge belly by the end of the day which deflates by morning with a series of small erruptions overnight!!!

goodname · 15/12/2009 14:29

Glad things are looking better mampam, think counselling sounds like a good plan .

I seemed to get a wee bump weeks ago but it has not really grown since then, am over 16 weeks now so started to worry why I am not getting fatter. Can still fasten all my jeans! (I do worry about everything possible tho). Also I am not very hungry and have to force myself to eat and get full very fast. Is that normal?
Have constant headaches too.

However feeling very happy about being pregnant and starting to tell random people in shops and smiling to myself as I walk down the street looking like a loony

Have not had a drink yet but may have a mulled wine or two when I go skiing in January. Will be over 20 weeks by then. Getting used to not drinking now so bit worried if a have 1 or 2 I will get a taste for it again and want more. Maybe easier to just abstain By the way how did the baby react in the video and is it online anywhere?

minimoonumbertwo · 15/12/2009 14:36

mampam that is such good news - well done you for staying so strong throughout - must be a nightmare dealing with that, pregnancy AND kids - you're amazing. Hope you're going to be able to get a bit of a break over xmas with family or something.

i too am slowly starting to wear proper maternity clothes - so much more comfy & actually make me look pregnant rather than just a bit fat. Going to a wedding on Thursday tho and NO idea what to wear to that, am hoping something with miraculously appear from the back of the wardrobe!

Filly you have a busy year for weddings next year! lots of showing off of your glory new baby.

madame i know exactly what you mean - so disheartening when they are charge of you & your baby, i can't take health advise from someone who clearly isn't healthy!

okay MUST do some xmas shopping - amazon here i come!

MrsDmamee · 15/12/2009 15:51

hi All, just been catching up on the thread,

mampam hope you and your DH are ok.

im at the 12 week mark now and starting to feel less yuckie thank goodness but im almost afraid to say it out loud because i did throw up a little bit after lunch yesterday but im hoping that maybe that was the last time fingers crossed.

have my dating scan on thursday and its my DH's xmas party same day too, so we will have lots of running/driving around to do.

GibberingGinger · 15/12/2009 16:17

Just had my swine flu jab. Have no idea if it was a good idea or not. I was invited a few weeks ago but decided it was too early. But phoned this morning to find out when the next clinic was and they said this afternoon, we can give you an appointment at 3pm. Was kind of flustered so said ok. After thinking about it decided I would go along and ask current advice etc. However when I got in the clinic they pretty much rolled up my sleave and stabbed me. Did say that I wasn't sure and did they think that 12 weeks was too soon, but they just said there was no restrictions on when to give it. Ah well it's done now. Hope it all works out ok, don't know just feel a bit rushed, unsure and sad about it all.

Sorry for the gloomy message. Mampam I hope things are better this week, and don't worry too much if they do decide antidepressants are the way forward. I've been on antidepressants in the past and they are a great crutch to get you over the bad times and give you a bit of breathing space.

greensnail · 15/12/2009 16:27

Sorry you feel you were rushed into having the jab GibberingGinger. Probably best to try not to dwell on it as its done now, I'm sure it will be fine. Keep thinking I should arrange to get mine done, but just haven't quite got round to it yet.

Mampam glad your DH seems a little better and that things went well with the GP. Agree with GG that you shouldn't be scared of antidepressants if its felt he does need them, they really can help to get you to a point where you're able to deal with the cause of the problems.

I've just put my christmas tree up and am feeling very festive

gizmo · 15/12/2009 17:35

Hello all, good to see festive preparations are in full swing on this thread. Maybe we should hang some decorations up?

Mampam, I'd just like to add my voice to those wishing you all a speedy recovery. Watching a loved one break down like that is harrowing, I know, and trying to keep everything else on an even keel must feel like a lead weight. I hope your husband turns a corner soon - do you think he's the sort who will talk about it, or will it get bottled up again?

GG, you and I are now vaccination sisters - I'm sitting here with a mildly throbbing arm from my jab. I know a lot of people feel ambivalent about it, but think of it as the equivalent of a superpower: you and I can now look that sneezing check out girl in the eye without fear of contamination . When all else around us are snuffling in bed, we will stopping a speeding train making the tea, safe in our cloak of antibodyness.

Of course, this superpower might be a bit too late for me: I spent much of the weekend nursing DS1 who was very poorly for a couple of days with something that ticked all the boxes for H1N1. He's bounced straight back, mind, and the only lasting legacy is a course of b*dy Tamifle capsules, which are a)impossible for a 7 year old to swallow and b) taste of distilled essence of bitter old lady. We're getting more distressed over finishing the course than over the original disease. Most annoying.

However, for now, thanks to a combination of the miracle of the second trimester and work/chrimbo backlog, I am running around in a totally hyper fashion organising everyone who doesn't hide when they see me coming. Be warned, fellow DueinJuners, this could happen to you...

MrsC09 · 15/12/2009 19:33

Goodname I found this

www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/study-shows-dangers-of-alcohol-on-fetus/6u7e6oe

I hope everyone is well. I'm off to midwife tomorrow to listen to the little ones heartbeat I'm also hoping she'll have a magic cure for my pelvic girdle pain but from what I can see on google there isn't much they can do about it....I didn't realize I'd be walking like an old lady at 15 weeks!

My belly seems to inflate throughout the the day as well but there is a small bump in the morning now too which I'm proudly showing off to hubby every morning! Still able to fit into most of my jeans but have started unbuttoning the top button after lunch. I guess I'll need to start buying new clothes after Christmas.

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/12/2009 20:32

Oh well found MrsC09! The date of that looks spot on, so that must be the report. I hadn't actually seen it myself, but heard about it the morning after it was shown, and couldn't find it online back then.

Well done on the flu jabs ladies. You've reminded me that I was supposed to phone my surgery today as they were expecting the Celvapan in for me.

Glad it went well at the GP mampam.

Yay for no hideous underlying liver condition greensnail.

Glucose tolerance test for me tomorrow, so nothing but water until tomorrow lunchtime. Fingers crossed that the results are ok, so that I don't have to starve even more over Christmas. Getting it at 17 weeks last time was bad enough.

LittleRobbo · 15/12/2009 21:30

Good evening ladies and very pleased to hear things are more positive for you mampam excellent!

My own personal choice is that i WILL partake in the odd glass of wine over the festive season, and i will not feel guilty about it,and i will be confident that no harm will come to my baby because of it. I may even enjoy a glass with my baked camembert

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/12/2009 22:03

Ooh - life on the edge LittleRobbo .

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/12/2009 22:04

Oh, and would I sound less uptight if I told you that I regularly eat runny eggs ?

madamefreckle · 15/12/2009 23:43

You're properly hard-core Can'tSleep! (or perhaps, more accurately soft-core?!)

Really pleased things are improving Mampam - you do sound like you're coping really well with it all.

I think it is very normal not to feel very hungry and to feel full really quickly goodname My appetite seems to have just returned (also 16 weeks) and i feel i'm on the verge of piling on the pounds. However, i know many people lack a big appetite throughout or at least for a few more months. Sure it's nothing to worry about.

GibberingGinger - Really try not to fret about your jab. I think it's got to be better than getting a bad case of flu (in the school where i work at least 4 of the teachers have had it and they swear it was worse than any flu they've ever had - and the liklihood of a bad case of flu affecting your baby(ies) is rather greater than the minute possibility of the vaccine doing any harm. I understand your concern completely though. I kind of feel that the whole thing is made out to be a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation though don't you?

Gizmo it slightly concerns me that you can compare anything to the 'taste of distilled essence of bitter old lady'!! Made me chuckle though!

OP posts:
greensnail · 16/12/2009 09:52

CSWS I'd been avoiding runny eggs but enjoyed licking the bowl after making DH's birthday cake this week so think abstaining from runny eggs is a bit pointless if i'm going to eat raw ones!

RnB · 16/12/2009 12:19

lol greensnail

herewegrow · 16/12/2009 13:23

Mampam hoping that your DH is feeling a lot better and that you are getting support too.

I had my scan on Monday, my dates were spot on so now feel I can add myself to the list I am not official yet though as still
keeping it mum from work. But have started to
tell our close friends. Both sets of parents
already enlightened

Just had a major hormonal outburst Received letter through post with appointment for liver scan on christmas eve. Cue me sobbing to DH "why can't they let me have one christmas eve in peace.... and what about DD's birthday party?" (spent last christmas eve being induced with DD). Anyway, one quick phonecall later and appointment has been changed to tomorrow. Disaster averted

Welcome, earlyonemorning, you cautious thing! Number 4, eh?

I had a listen to the baby's heartbeat today. it was lovely. Finally starting to feel pregnent. Getting a tummy and everything. Also got weighed and my weight is back up to my pre-pregnancy weight which given the massive weight loss I had in the first trimester is brilliant. And testimony to how much I have eaten the last fortnight!

I must be one of only a few who are delighted to have gained a bit of weight - it won't be this in a few months when I am big!

madamefreckle · 16/12/2009 22:57

Fashionably late Earlyonemorning!! Welcome aboard the jolly june train! (I really need to spend less time with kids).

Glad you're feeling better nickytwo and isn't it great hearing the heartbeat!
