Oh gosh mampam - that hardly qualifies as a 'silly problem' does it?! Have you considered putting a post in health to see if there are others that have experienced the same, and what happened?

mampam · 13/12/2009 14:57

CSWS thanks I never thought of posting there. I'll do it later when I've got more time.

Had a bit of a shock to my system today because for the first time in over 8 weeks I have had the responsibility of the house. So have been washing, hoovering, dusting etc and am positively knackered!! At least it's got me going downstairs again. Luckily the smell of the Christmas Tree is helping mask other smells I don't like. I did have a moment last night and had to dash out the back door and throw up in the flower bed!!!

greensnail · 13/12/2009 14:59

Gosh Mampam, how distressing for you all. Hope you can all get through today safely and that you get good help from GP tomorrow. Do you have a good GP? Make sure you seek help again today if you need to.

Unfortunately this is something I do have experience of. I know everything must feel terrible and scary at the moment but in my experience once things come to a head like this, it can be a real catalyst to sort out a lot of problems that have probably been brewing for a long while. Please feel free to CAT me if you want to talk some more and make sure you're taking care of yourself as well as your DH.

RnB · 13/12/2009 17:53

OMG Mampam I really hope your dh et better soon. How awful for you both. Hope you get the help you need

LittleRobbo · 13/12/2009 18:23

bloody hell mampam what a lot for you both to cope with right now. But you know something positive could come out of this, maybe your DH will open up to you now and you can both talk through some stuff thats maybe been swept under? I wish your DH is a swift recovery, dont forget to take care of yourself too

nickytwotimes · 13/12/2009 19:24

Evening all.
Sorry to hear about your tough time, mampam.
Your poor dh. I hope he gets some decent help soon. Hopefully this is just a crisis point and he will get better from here. SOmetimes a person has to hit a crisis before they are able to look for and accept a bit of help. A lot for you to cope with too.
I am a lot better still. GOt a cold though from ds just in time for my birth day. Never mind, it is nothing compared to the sickness.

fillybuster · 13/12/2009 20:16

Gosh, mampam, that sounds awful for you and your dh...hope you both get some help soon and find a way through this together. I'm glad your dcs were away whilst this was going on, hope you can cope with everything once they're back home tomorrow...

My tummy bug appeared to lift for a day or so but came back in force last night. I am so so so bored of dry toast and plain jacket potatoes with boiled eggs!

On the plus side, chanukah started on friday evening and we gave the dcs their presents: dd is delighted with her dolls house and ds is over the moon with his argos £16.99 portable stereo - we've been collecting the various free speaking book cds from the papers for the last few years and he is totally overexcited at the option to sit and listen to a story (or music) whenever he wants to !

Hope the rest of you had lovely weekends...and lol at gizmos curry - I'd love one but somehow not sure about the results right now....

mampam · 13/12/2009 21:10

Thankyou everyone for your support. Will let you know how it goes when DH goes to see GP tomorrow.

madamefreckle · 13/12/2009 22:07

Good luck mampam. Really hope things get better for you and DH very soon. Was reading recently how much pregnancy can affect men too - hormonally, emotionally and even physically. Maybe he's been trying to be strong while you've been unwell and it's affected him more than either of you thought and now his mind - and body - are just saying 'enough'. Hopefully with a bit of rest, things will be back to normal. Not sure how useful my random hypothesising is... but fingers crossed for you.

mampam I hope everything goes well at the Drs today for your DH.

I had my scan today! Thrilled at seeing the baby at long last! my due date has been changed to the 23rd though - not sure how to update the list though sorry...

DP is so excited after the scan I thought he was going to burst!!!

Hi Mampam, I'm thinking of you today and hope everything goes OK. Poor you and DH

Let us know how it goes. x

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. Poor you Filly, perhaps it's not a tummy bug? I've never known one to go on for so long! Yucky - I'd be a wreck!

minimoonumbertwo · 14/12/2009 14:23

Gosh mampam you've really been through it - how did it go at the dr's today?

filly glad you had a happy chanuka and hope you're feeling a bit better today - just think how skinny you'll be (despite the obvious!!)

Good news about everyone's scans - i have realised this is actually a really nice time to be pregnant as the time between first & second scan should go pretty quickly with xmas in between. And i think most of us will be either way past or coming up to 3 months so can merrily enjoy a drink and show off scan pics!

RnB · 14/12/2009 16:18

How are the bumps coming along. I'm 16 weeks today and people who I haven't told are double-taking when they see me now

GinaFB · 14/12/2009 16:52

Tiny bump starting to grow but suspect it might be wind.....

....trousers are getting tighter though!!

fillybuster · 14/12/2009 16:58

So glad your scan went well GineFB - its really fab when you finally get to see that there's really a baby in there, isn't it? I cry every time

Minimoomin - the 'skinny' thing is just about the only silver lining I can think of...by now I've usually put on approx a stone but this time its only about 2lbs....since I've got my cousin's wedding at the end of August, then my best (boy)friend's wedding the weekend after, then my sister's at the end of October (eek! eek! and triple eek!), there's a really good argument for not putting on my usual 4 stone if I can possibly avoid it. Although right now, I'm not sure that I wouldn't sacrifice looking reasonably slim in the photos next year for one afternoon without cramps and constant dashes to the bathroom right now....(sorry if tmi )

Mampam, how is your dh today? What did the gp say? And how are you feeling?

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/12/2009 17:30

No bump here (12 weeks tomorrow), but then I'm too fat to notice one until much later anyway.

I won't be enjoying a drink over Christmas, as I abstain during pregnancy, as per current advice. The video footage on the news a few years ago of a baby in the womb reacting to just one drink was enough to put off anyone who saw it I think.

How did it go at the GP mampam?

fillybuster · 14/12/2009 18:30

CSWS: current advice seems to be a bit mixed - for example, the handout I've received from the hospital tells me its ok to drink in moderation (1-2 units, 1-2 times a week). Amittedly a tummy bug is a big disincentive to drink but I'll definitely be having one or two next weekend (my birthday and birthday party!!)

greensnail · 14/12/2009 19:44

I have a small bump now (almost 15 weeks). Had my first day in maternity trousers today, but only because I didn't have anything else that was clean . Very comfy but a bit too loose really at the moment. I'm really not going to get away with it much longer at work, but at the moment I think people are assuming its just a bit of baby weight left from DD.

I was really excited to find out one of my cousins is expecting her first baby in June too. She's not in this country any more but we were very close and she lived with me for a while, so very exciting that we're pregnant together.

Thinking of you and your DH Mampam

madamefreckle · 14/12/2009 19:49

Drink-wise will do as i did with number one -had the odd drink (once every few weeks) - often just having a couple of cm of wine just to give myself the impression of having a drink. But really i'm not a big drinker anyway and don't miss it.

Can'tSleep - how did the baby on the video react?

My bump progressively enlarges as the day goes on, so by bedtime i look heeaouge! I'm trying not to wear maternity clothes as they just seem to make it look even more pronounced!

Had midwife appointment today and she picked up a good strong heart-beat which was a joy to my ears!

OP posts:
madamefreckle · 14/12/2009 19:53

Just want to add, however, that the midwife repeatedly missed my vein when trying to take blood. - Why couldn't she leave it to the pros? Also, while on a rant, I always feel that the medical profession should be shining examples of health, vitality and clean-living (perhaps naively). However, my last mid-wife was a grumpy, dumpy, gruff-voiced smoker and this one is barely any better. Grrr.

OP posts:
dinosaurinmybelly · 14/12/2009 20:52

Thinking of you and your DH mampam

I am 16 weeks today and am now getting that rounded shape. I also seem to get bigger as the day progresses, so I really look pregnant in the evenings. I'm avoiding maternity clothes for now as I know I'll be living in them soon, so trying to hold out past Christmas.

My alcohol consumption shot right down when I first got pregnant with DS1 almost 4 years ago, but I do enjoy having a glass of wine once or twice a week as a special treat with dinner.

I have another midwife appointment on Thursday when I know she'll take some more blood.. am also very itchy at the moment, so want to discuss that with her, as I think that can be a sign that there is something dodgy going on with liver function??

madamefreckle · 14/12/2009 21:40

I'm really itchy too - particularly on my back. I think i must have been scratching in my sleep as i have great scratch marks up my back. Didn't mention it to the midwife as she seemed so disinterested about everything! Let me know what your m/w says dinosaur.

OP posts:
greensnail · 14/12/2009 22:12

Yes itchyness in pregnancy can be a sign of Obstetric cholestasis. This is quite a rare liver condition which can occur in pregnancy, and is extremely rare before the 3rd trimester, but definitely worth being tested for if you're worried. Itching on hands and feet are particularly worrying, but it can occur all over. There's lots of other more common reasons for itching in pregnancy though, which it is much more likely to be. I had it quite badly with my first pregnancy and am expecting to be formally diagnosed with it again when i have hospital appointment on thursday. My last lot of bloods I had showed liver function is going off already, and had more bloods taken to confirm this last week. Also am waiting for a liver scan, as i think doctors want to rule out anything other than OC causing my liver problems, because its so rare to get it this early in pregnancy (i've been itching since about 5 weeks this time).

sobloodystupid · 15/12/2009 08:24

mampam how did things go for you and dh yesterday? You sound amazing, like another poster said now things have come to a head, the New Year can hold such hope now.
Had my scan: thankfully a singleton, my psychic powers are clearly non existent! Wishing everyone here a very happy christmas (it's not too early, is it?) and a very peaceful 2010.
