CONGRATULATIONS PINK!!!! WELCOME LITTLE OSIRIS!! What a FABULOUS name! Hope you make a speedy recovery and can join us soon!

Franni - what a terrifying birth experience for everyone - I can't believe there wasn't a paragraph in your notes about what went on - that can hardly be helpful for future reference can it? Hope it doesn't mean you have to fight harder than you would otherwise for a cs if that's what you want. Sounds like you've been having a lovely day

Bubbs - looks like things are happening at last for you from the sounds of your posts here and on the other thread - Good Luck! (I'll go look at that thread in a min) I've been doing a lot of bouncing on the ball today too, but no pains or anything....

MrsF - well done for attempting "it" you sound about as enthusiastic as me - I'm still procrastinating though

Lippy - I'm scoffing crisps too. And chocolate Hobnobs. And KitKats. And shortcake. Don't normaly have stuff like this in the house, but it's in my labour bag - dp keeps having to go and replenish it!

Lua - I'm glad to hear mws don't go round breaking waters willy-nilly - it wasn't the impression I got when I was watching that fab hospital mini-series with Max Beesley a few months ago. Can't remember what it was called - read the book though - really enjoyed it.

Roseberry - Sorry the sweep didn't work for you. Probably a bit early. Nothing to stop you having another I suppose if you need one.

Coop - i'm sure dp, like yours, would be quite into "it" once initiated. He is, after all, a bloke Just feels too weird for me though - especially as Pod's head is so low... I'm thinking about it though.,..... Isn't that strange about Mears' post re the electronic cuffs? i knew I wasn't making it up! Still can't believe your luck with the clinic!

Trib - hope you're ok re the pre-e. At least you're full term should they need to deliver you quickly. Lol at your advice that I don't have to enjoy "getting jiggy" - Guess I've got no excuse mow though... Poor ol' dp

redheadmum · 18/06/2005 19:10

gwenynbee · 18/06/2005 20:40

Hello! Congrats to all the new Junie moms since my last posting!! I am really envious that your babies have made an entrance before this disgusting heatwave we're having! I was sweating and puffing and panting weeks ago, and now it's worse!!

Still trying my best to start things off - even though EDD isn't until next week devoured a whole pineapple this am, and I am going to add some clarry sage oil to my (very cold) bath this evening! Having said that, giving birth in a hospital in this sweltering heat must be a nightmare, so perhaps I should hold on until we have our next cold spell!!

Take care ladies, thinking of you all

Uki · 19/06/2005 03:48

A BIG HI TO EVERYONE

Congrat's to new babes, yaaah pink , mcmudda and Meggi

Thankyou for all the comments about his name (it was the only boy mame we liked)

I got home from hospital yesterday, as blood pressure didn't go down as planned after birth, so i had to be monitored, I am still on loads of pills that make me very drowsy, but hopefully will be better in a few days.

The birth was a nightmare, i am still recovering as it was very stressful- babies heart rate kept dropping and my blood pressure kept rising. Cesearean was twice threatned, but after yes 17 hours he was born and he is beautiful, happy and healthy.

Unfortunately my advice on induction is don't, but of course every birth is different and I was unlucky in the fact that Cooper wasn't at all ready to come out_cervix was way back, so the whole process was loooong and painful.

Anyway the last hour of the birth, normally I imagine the painful bit was completly pain free and relatively easy. I couldn't feel what i was pushing!!!!

Last night was first night at home and Cooper is fantastic sleeps so well i have to wake him up to be feed.
Nappies however are a challenge i am experimenting with 4 types and still have wet bed coverings mmmmmmmmm

anyway good luck to all still waiting it's tough but all worth it.

Cooperoo · 19/06/2005 06:02

Morning all, still here.
Good Luck Trib
Bubb - Any more signs?
Uki - Great to hear from you and that things are working out with little Cooper. The nappies are another thing though...what are you using?
Hi Gweny - Glad you are OK still.
I had quite a few BH style contractions coupled with back ache and engaging type pains last night and thought hooray at last, but of course it came to nothing. I did have to go to the loo more than usual though so maybe there had been some movement down there. DD was up early today to say 'Happy Father's Day' and so there was no natural induction action this morning lol. Sorry TMI. Right have to think of things to keep us busy today now. Perhaps out for lunch or a trip up the mountains. It is too hot here for a walk anywhere as I know most of you will be experiencing in the UK this weekend.
I didn't thank Franni and Trib for their contraction advice at the time. Sorry and thank you...although I am still a bit confused lol. I will ask the m/w at my 41 wk appt tomorrow.
Good Luck everyone...

JonahB · 19/06/2005 11:16

Morning All,

Just a quick note to let you know that Isaac Powis Bolter was born in the early hours of Thursday 16th June, at 1:45am, weighing in at a v. healthy 8lbs 8oz's. Myself, DH and baby Isaac are all doing fine. I can't get over how perfect my little boy is. All objectivity has flown straight out of the window . I'll post more details later, hope you are all well...

mogwai · 19/06/2005 11:18

still here, still have wild staring animal eyes. Also cannot get off the sofa with any dignity.

Please feel free to add to my list of nature's great jokes

  1. Raspberry leaf tea gives you heartburn
  2. You drop evrything on the floor when you are pg but you can't reach down to pick it up
  3. You cannot get any sleep, just when you need to get some sleep for the difficult task ahead.
  4. You drop food down your clean clothes when you have virtually nothing else that still fits

Any more???

RoseBerry · 19/06/2005 11:30

Give up on the clean clothes -- if you think its bad during pregnancy wait until the baby 'decorates'. ;)

Cooperoo · 19/06/2005 12:03

Hooray! Huge congratulations to you Jonah. So glad Isaac has arrived safely and that you are doing well. Looking forward to getting the details.
Mog - You made me LOL with those. I have one. That the only scientifically proven method of self-induction is sex and do you really feel attractive when you are 40+ weeks. Hmmm no is my answer. Why have we not evolved to make this whole process easier yet?
I agree with Roseberry and in actual fact have completely given up on clothes completely apart from my underwear in this heat.
Well DH and I have given it another go this morning, with no results so far. If it is going to work how long do you think it will take? I have a sore throat today too. It started yesterday and is still here. Now that isn't fair as I recall gas and air gave me a sore throat last time too.
I realised that the babies basket and pram have been made up for nearly two weeks now collecting dust so I have changed the sheets already. We have eaten all the food I stocked the freezer up with for after the birth too so I need to go shopping again and like Charley I keep munching on the fun snacks I have supposedly packed for DH during the labour. Just a bit bored now I spose.
Hope Trib is OK.

Cooperoo · 19/06/2005 12:05

. Sorry what a whiney post. Hope everyone is well. I am really

mrsflowerpot · 19/06/2005 12:24

Everything that is supposed to bring on labour gives me heartburn, except sex I suppose but frankly I'd rather have heartburn at the moment.

Congratulations Jonah! Fantastic news, glad you and Isaac are well (lovely name).

I'm feeling moany too, today, so will make this short. Too hot, too big, stressed about dh being away 3 days this week (eek), fed up with morning till night Star Wars with ds, still have decorating to do before the house can go on the market, having huge fight with local newsagent after paperboy broke our letterbox two weeks ago and they don't understand why I want it fixed before the baby arrives and not when it's convenient for their maintenance bloke.

Right, off to have lunch in the garden - may resort to the paddling pool this afternoon!

Franniban · 19/06/2005 12:44

Hi Girls,
Must be something about today! Feeling equally moany! Hey ho. Due date today, and after waking up with back ache and feeling uncomfortable at 2 this morning, as per usual nothing happening!
Re the length of time that "it" should take, I was thinking that if they induce you with a pessary (same hormone) they re insert every 6 hours depending on how busy they are, so I guess that would mean you'd have to be reasonably up for it!
Big Congratulations to Jonah and family, and cool name as well. And big congratulations to Pink, also v cool name. Sounds like she had a tough time.

Lol Mog re the clean cloths and agree with Roseberry on the decorating thing! Read somewhere on here that you can tell how old peoples kids are from the hieght of the snot, milk, whatever marks on thier trousers!

Have ventured out to the boot fair at the end of the road this morning, and was back by 10 as it is roasting, think I shall be vegging indoors, until we go up the road for another bbq.
Hope everyone has a comfortable enough day. Really envy your pool, Coop, just fancy a wallo!

mogwai · 19/06/2005 13:00

I hear that sex usually takes effect within 24 hours.

My friend was telling me this last night, as her eight month old decorated my only clean dress.....

LipstickMum · 19/06/2005 13:03

Hello everyone

At the risk of being the annoyingly jolly one; I'm feeling fab today !! It's gorgeous and hot here, have the pool out for dd, it occupied her all day yesterday! I'm basically going to do nothing I think that's the trick with this warm weather.

Congratulations to Pink and Osiris!! emergency cs! I hope that was ok, we know you were hanging around for ages with nothing happening after your waters broke Take care and lots of love.

Congratulations to Jonah, Isaac and family!! Excellent. I bet he is perfect!!

I've just had a thought. Am a bit because I don't plan on announcing names on here and everyone else is. Am I being a bit overly paranoid..? Hmmmmmm. Not sure dp would like it at all.

Ok, time to go and sit with my feet in the paddling pool, it really is very cooling.

mogwai · 19/06/2005 13:30

agree with you lipstick mum, I would possibly say a first name but not the whole lot.

LipstickMum · 19/06/2005 19:45

I don't think dp would even approve of posting first and middle names and I am a bit apprehensive... The thought of ruining Tribs beautiful chart though fills me with dread !!!

mogwai · 19/06/2005 19:58

make something up.

Can't wait to read about Ermintrude Lipstick's arrival

Lua · 19/06/2005 20:06

CONGRATULATIONS TO PINK AND JONAH!!!

Pink - Sorry to hear about the emergency CS! Hope you are doing OK and that you'll have someone to help in the first weeks! So, does Osiris has lots of hair?

Jonah - 8lb 8oz! Where did you hide that much baby! Give us more details when you have a chance!!!

tribpot · 19/06/2005 21:32

Evening ladies.

Massive congrats to Jonah and welcome to Isaac, I shall update the birth stats momentarily. Lippy, I will happily put yours down as 'baby boy'/'baby girl' if you would prefer, it's entirely up to you!

Well, I am back. No baby .. quite yet. My bp was up to 140/95 this morning so I was sent off to the hospital for monitoring and blood tests. Bp remained high (although weirdly, lower on the electronic machines than using the stethoscope) but bub's heartbeat and movement were good. Blood tests were all normal except for urea/uric acid (not sure which as I haven't managed to run off with the notes to read them yet) which was elevated, indicating pre-eclampsia. I feel fine, btw.

Anyway they decided this afternoon to kick things off with a sweep. I must say, I was absolutely cacking my drawers about this [not literally] as I had had to listen to the woman in the next bed have one in the morning. She was very brave but was crying by the time the doc had finished. Anyway, I'm pleased to say that in my case, it really wasn't that bad, equivalent to a smear, as Lua said. I think it helped that I was already 2-3cm dilated by that point, hurrah for all the back pain I've been having!

I had a bath and then started the campaign to be allowed to come home; among other considerations, dh was really suffering in the heat and I wanted him to be able to get more comfortable as well as myself. Mw did another internal at about 8 and decided to have a bit more of a sweep whilst she was in there - more painful but certainly bearable. I'm now at 4 cm so at home but expecting to go back in probably at some point in the night. Just about to put the TENS machine on. Baby's head has finally engaged.

I'm booked in for an induction on the off-chance things haven't happened by Tuesday morning - and booked in to have bp monitored again tomorrow morning, although it was down to 138/73 when I left. Hurrah!

Hope all are well.

Franniban · 19/06/2005 21:47

Hi Trib, that sounds like things are moving in the right direction. Hurray for you. Sorry to hear about the pre ec, but at least you are being monitored. Really hope that things progess as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Take care, XX

JonahB · 19/06/2005 21:54

Coop, you have my fullest empathy in going over your due date. You must be 6 days over now. I went to 10 days before they induced me. In desperation, I tried sex about 3 times but it didn?t work.

Lua, lol. My first reaction when they put him on my stomach was, oh my g-d, he?s HUGE!!! I was expecting a petite 7lber, not a big bruiser

Trib, best of luck to you. Hope it all goes quickly and painlessly for you.

I?ve posted the full details on the birth announcement thread. Best wishes to all those of you still waiting. This weather must be a nightmare for you ?

Lua · 19/06/2005 21:55

TRib (and Bubb!)- Hoping to hear new birth announcements tomorrow!

tribpot · 19/06/2005 21:56

Thanks Franni. Actually - so far, at least - I am quite pleased about the pre-eclampsia. I was desperate to deliver early because I have a wedding to go to at the end of July which I don't want to miss (but which is c. 120 miles away) and I didn't want bubs to arrive 2 weeks late, leaving me a mere 3 weeks to recover/get to grips with life with a baby before heading off for that.

As it seems to have handily provided me with a case just severe enough to warrant a bit of early treatment but late enough to be full-term (I'm 39+2) I must say so far I am pleased with the baby's attention to detail

baby stats updated for Pink and Jonah

Btw, the woman in the bed opposite me had a pessary whilst I was there - then some of her family turned up. They proceeded to sit there talking about god knows what whilst she occasionally said "erm, it is getting quite painful now". None of them took the hint that it was time to go

MrsWednesday · 19/06/2005 22:41

Oooh, Trib, sounds like things are progressing pretty well. All the very best of luck. And Bubbaloo too - hope she's got her epidural

It's soooooooooooo exciting!

Jonah, congrats on your not so little boy!

And Pink, so pleased your DS is here. Hope it wasn't too traumatic.

gwenynbee · 19/06/2005 23:16

Hello ladies...still here. Woke up at 3am last night in absolute agony...pains kept on coming and going every 15mins or so for a couple of hours.....only to find out that I just had a bad dose of wind. What an absolute anti climax - got dp to practice massage techniques we'd learnt at parentcraft, only to let an almighty pump after half an hour of rubbing the bottom of my back. Bless him - LOL!!

I want to meet my lickle man!!! I wish he'd hurry up..I'm tired of the phone going every half hour...if anybody else says - "Still here then...." to me I won't be accountable for my actions! Don't people realise that these things can't be rushed into!

Glad that it rained earlier on....we had hail in the Midlands! Feel a teeny weeny bit cooler this evening, so I am hoping to sleep better tonight!

Anyway ladies, Good luck to you all, and take care!!!
