hey pip! Hello Hello (Hola!)

I did see one other very pg lady, she was lurking around entrance R wearing a lilac top I think (a smock type thing with straps, I was thinking how nice it was, she seeemed to be in a group of about 6 - was that you?

How Glorious was Mr Bono? sorry, promise not to go on, but PHWOAR!!!!!! If that dirty man ever comes within two feet of me, he's getting it.

Yes, Charleypops, I do indeed mean that luminous curry with the raisins in it. It's heaven, especially poured over a battered fish. My dh thought this was a craving - until he tried it, and now he's hooked. Fancy not being able to get a battered sausage down south! I remember from whan I was at uni, you couldn't get gravy. That was obviously the reason we moved back up north.

Had a lovely lunch with my friend, who doesn't look like she's swallowed a sofa at all (maybe a wing-backed chair). Then went to antenatal for the midwife to prod my belly - bleugh. She said "I don't think it's all baby - some of it is you and some of it is fluid" - what? Just how much of it is me? What does she mean? (I've only been to the chippy ONCE in nine months)

Lua · 16/06/2005 15:48

Mogwai, I am a fellow Manchester dweller (but haven't been here very long...), but never had the fruit curry thing! I am intrigued! Can you give the name of this great chippy of yours?

Cherley, loved the ebay ad! Don't think I'll be nuying though....

Lua · 16/06/2005 15:48

Ooops, how rude of me.... Hello pip! Wellcome aboard!

mogwai · 16/06/2005 15:52

lua I live outside manchester. Most chippies sell cartons of curry though

pipdee · 16/06/2005 16:04

Thanks for welcomes

NO - Mogwai wasnt me- we went in at entrance X- Don't really get the Bono thing - maybe he's just too short for me- I'm nearly five foot eleven. But there's certainly something attractive about all that energy!! Curently playing U2 on R1.

Also seen MW today she thinks the dancing has helped it drop down. Just been and bought an excercise ball from Argos don;t know what to do with it though will have to follow some other links.

Is anyone else taking the reaspberry leaf?

Yellow curry reminds me of school curry - always had raisins in and isn't very spicy, but curry sauce and chips is definitley good. I had a craving for chips and gravy at the start of this pregnancy. Also had fish & chips last night - just fancied it- well you haev to fancy something!

Like the ebay thing- is this a hated person or just a joke on a friend do you think.

LipstickMum · 16/06/2005 16:19

Pip, my mw suggested I sit on the exercise ball and do gentle bounces from about 36 weeks on. It's also good for leaning on on all fours, and I'm sure there are other manoevres that you could try to ease discomfort

I'm drinking Raspberry Leaf tea. I meant to say before, on the instructions it recommends about 3 cups a day.

Well, my dd-free day is coming to an end. Still, she loves seeing me - I think - when I pick her up and goes a little crazy/ embarrassed/ shy all at once. Can't wait to see this one!!!!

I wonder how Pink is getting on? Something tells me, she stuck the v's up at the mw's and just turned up at delivery suite, totally fed up and demanding to be seen She had organised a doulla hadn't she?

I might try and organise for dp and I to go out for a curry next week... apart from the spicy factor, it will be nice to get out while I don't have a wee one attached to my nipple 24/7. Plus, I'm sure that babysitting one toddler is relatively easier than a toddler and a newborn

See you all later!

charleypops · 16/06/2005 16:33

I just had a very interesting few hours. Not. Driven round 5 garages with dp (and dog) to "keep him company" trying to get his tracking done but to no avail...

Lippy - lol at you giving your bump hiccoughs (oops, I've always spelt it "hiccups" - a valuable lesson just learned

Hi Pipdee! is this your first?

Mog - I succumbed to my craving and had chips and curry sauce whilst driving around with dp - oo the class! I had to keep the curry sauce in the carton though because it was so damn runny. But Mmmm anyway. I think that was my only (or maybe 2nd) in about a year too!

He he that ebaby ad is sooo funny isn't it? Hell hath no fury etc... Pipdee - I think it's safe to say that ad is the work of a woman scorned...

charleypops · 16/06/2005 16:34

oops - ebay, not ebaby - can't think what I must be preoccupied with

bubbaloo · 16/06/2005 17:01

hi pip-welcome to the "junies".

have only skimmed this afternoon's posts as ive not long got back from the hospital and i'm not a happy bunny.
i saw my consultant who tried to talk me into having a sweep but i refused as im such a coward and said i wanted to avoid internals if poss.
so...im booked in to be induced on tuesday morning and was told if he doesnt turn up beforehand i shall be having even more internals.
have now decided we're having having curry every night and ive just bought 2 more pineapples.the doctor told me to try running up and down the stairs-thats a joke as i can barely walk up them.
also apparently they think ive a water infection as there's protein in my wee(which they've sent off to check)and my bp was higher than normal but nothing to worry about too much-i hope!!

hope everyone else is ok-shall catch up later.

Franniban · 16/06/2005 21:23

Hi everyone,
Welcome pip.
Well Charley, did you stink the car out with curry?! Lovely old job as we suvveners would say.
Hi Bub, sorry you've had a grotty afternoon, it's all very depressing. I've had a fairly similar afternoon.
Went to see the midwife and she really pissed me off, and scared me too. Baby is still not engaged! And the little beast has turned back to back again. As the heads not engaged, if my water break with a big gush, which is very likely with and op baby and happened with ds, it can be very dangerous. Apparently, it's straight to the hospital but on all fours in the back of the car. And if it happens out and about, it's straight in an ambulance. Talk about scare the life out of me. Still, as she said, you have to know what to do in these circumstances. She also reckoned that I would definately make my 41 week app, as the baby is still so high! Been here before!
Sorry, me me me, but feeling v down about it all. Think I will go an cheer myself up on the passive birth thread!
No news from Coop this evening then, wonder if she's kicked off?
Sounds intreaging, the ebay ad, was off when I looked!
Hope everyone has a comfortable night, XX

mogwai · 16/06/2005 21:36

hey franniban

Chin up! I think all fours in the back of a car would be very glamorous. I hear Naomi Campbell was caught doing something similar, and you never see HER without lipstick, eh?Seriously, poor you, lots of sympathy.

Glad you are enjoying my passive birth thread. I think it rocks!!

bubbaloo · 16/06/2005 21:38

sorry to hear that franni, and there's me rattling on about internals, which seem so petty in comparison.
at least if i do go in on tuesday there's a good chance he'll be born the next day and thats our wedding anniversary so i suppose thats one nice thing.
yeah,by the time i also looked at that ebay thing they had taken it off!!

wonder if jonah has her bundle yet.

bubbaloo · 16/06/2005 21:40

hi mog,

you certainly know how to cheer someone up-LOL!!

i had a good old laugh at one of your threads earlier!!

mogwai · 16/06/2005 22:00

hi buballoo

get yourself over to the passive birth thread. Some funny stuff going on over there!!

Cooperoo · 17/06/2005 05:35

Hello all,
Still here [yawn emoticon].
Franni - Sorry to hear that your midwife has been scaring you. I have never heard that an op baby can be 'dangerous', much more difficult but you must take her advice but try not to panic. Is it because of your history that she said this? Spend alot of time on all fours now too and get that baby turned back round.
So do you think Pink is off having her baby now?
Hello and welcome Pip
Bubb - Hope your baby decides to come this weekend. I have decided that Sunday as Fathers Day would be a nice day, although I want mine today of course.
Mog - I think I will have to check out that thread too.
The ebay link was gone by the time I got there too . Fill us in on the joke please.
Right short and sweet again as dd has already finished her breakfast.
Thinking of you all though. Hopefully more later.....
Oh yes and enjoy the heat this weekend. Will be thinking of you . I think it will be hotter with you than with us if you are down south....

bubbaloo · 17/06/2005 07:32

morning all,

coop- fathers day would be nice.i even bought a card yesterday, just incase so who knows.
i think your'e also right about the weather.we slept with the fan on all night-it's so hot here already that i'm not looking forward to next week at all.i have packed a small fan to take in with me though so that may help.

hope everyone has a nice day.

Cooperoo · 17/06/2005 09:38

Morning Bubb - A fan is a good idea I think. My labour/delivery room had fans fitted thank goodness. I spent most of my labour feeling freezing cold or boiling hot so the fan was on and off constantly. The temp change usually happened mid way through a contraction so poor DH was being wildly gestured at to turn it on or off most of the time. Please ask your DH/P's to only ask questions with a yes/no answer when you are having contractions. Poor DH kept saying 'Do you want the fan on or off?' and I obviously couldn't speak to tell him. Caused a few problems lol.
Well I have been out walking around this morning running errands trying to keep upright and mobile. Time for bouncing on the ball now. Can you overdose on raspberry leaf tea? I am only supposed to take two capsules a day but am tempted to dose up. Praps not though.

bubbaloo · 17/06/2005 10:18

coop-dh is stopping at the sports shop on his way home from work to get me a ball.i'll probably end up bursting it with my weight-lol!!!
on the box of RLT i had it said to only take a max of 3 a day so i dont know...and that was tea bags!
i think my cats have been hatching a plan to try and get this baby out.they just bought a huge pigeon indoors and decided to run around the living room with it,before i managed to get them out.blimey...my bp was high yesterday-bet it's even higher now!
have decided to go wash down all the wardrobes and do a mad cleaning blitz today in the hope it triggers things off, then i think i'll indulge in some pineapple for lunch!!

charleypops · 17/06/2005 11:22

Morning all!

Franni - so sorry about your scare - thank goodness though that you're well informed and have a clear idea of what you have to do. In my experience of my pg these medics tend to go a bit overboard in scaring us - probably to ensure we take them seriously and of course to cover themselves. The car wasn't so stinky yesterday - that curry sauce had hardly any flavour or smell anyway.

Mogwai - has Naomi Campbell had a baby then?

I knew that ebay thing wouldn't last. Shame some of you missed it

Coop - Someone had advertised her husband describing him as someone who has a new jag but doesn't pay child maintenance, enjoys the company of asian prostitutes, has signed on with a number of dating agencies as a 38 year old, when really he's 52 etc. Great big photo too - Very funny, but I guess you had be there... Great tip re asking our dps to ask us question that only require a yes/no answer

Bubb - pmsl at your cat and "huge" pigeon episode - was it alive?

I'm off to take the dog out on a little walk - hope something happens...

bubbaloo · 17/06/2005 11:42

charley-that ad on ebay sounds really funny.

the pigeon was dead but it did look huge-im so used to them bringing in mice and sparrows.they're now sulking as i am refusing to speak to them-horrible animals!!!

lets hope your walk triggers something for you.

LipstickMum · 17/06/2005 12:12

Morning everyone

I wonder what's happening with Pink??? And Jonah?? I expect they both have little ones by now I hope Pink is ok...

Franni, Sorry to hear your little one is moving about and changing position. I didn't know it was dangerous if your baby is posterior and your waters break My dd was posterior, but my waters didn't break. We had a lengthy labour though, very uncomfortable, all that back aches

Anyone else still eating for England?? Everytime I log on here mid morning/pre-lunch I am munching on my daily 2 packs of Walkers salt n vinegar Theory being, very soon I'll have to be cutting back, so, might as well make hay while the sun shines

Lazy day today. Just pottering about with some washing and things, nothing strenuous. In fact, tomorrow morning we're going to wander around the garden centre, how leisurely is that?? [proud emoticon]
My carpet in the basement, is very clean and gorgeous looking again

So a few of you 'officially' over due now? Bubbs, Coop, Charley, Mrs F... I have convinced myself that I will also be overdue, some women are just longer or shorter pregnancy gals I reckon. Still anything could happen between now and next week.

It's a gorgeous day here, sun shining (at last) washing on the line Play date this afternoon for dd, just how Summer should be! Now, if it could only stay like this until the end of September, that would be just fine

Charley, hope the dog-walking brings about some Pod action!!!

welshmum · 17/06/2005 13:08

Hello all,
Just popping in to say that I'm still trying to keep up with you all - glad to see that there's still a smutty air to this thread
I just had a quick scan of the stats and am I right in thinking that I had the heavist babe so far at 8lb 13 oz??? Can't believe that - I thought we'd see some 10 pounders by now....suppose it's not over until all the fat ladies have sung (so to speak)
take care all - looking forward to welcoming more of you to the post natal thread soon xxx

Franniban · 17/06/2005 13:23

Afternoon everyone.
Sorry, just need to clarify what I said yesterday. If the baby's head is not engaged and your waters break it can be dangerous, there is a danger of a prolapsed cord, and there is more chance of your waters breaking if the baby is op. Sorry, didn't mean to mislead anyone.
Lippy, yes wouldn't it be lovely if it stayed like this until September. And yes, am eating for England, my dh said that I looked like pac man when I opened the fridge! Nice!
Hi Bub, funny about the pigeon, my cat brought in a bird a day after ds was born, don't like to use collars, but had to get one with a bell on in the end, espcially as I run a mile at a flapping bird! Was on the phone this morning in the sitting room and a mouse popped out of the fireplace. Have to catch the critter soon.
LOL at the birthing ball, I had the very same worry!
Coop, Fathers day would be nice, that's my due date, but somehow don't think that will happen.
Well, after a sleepless night, and crying myself to sleep at about 4 this morning, have decided to be more possitive, and if nec be more assertive at the consultants appointment next week, assuming that I'm still pregnant. I will push for a cs if we are looking like we are going down the same path as last time. Won't post details as don't want to scare people. The midwife was very anti cs, and I'm sure that she has my best interests at heart, but I do sometimes think that money is a motivating factor with this option.
Anyway, enough me me me. Enjoy the weather this afternoon girls, I think the heat is ok now, but it's going to get hotter over the weekend.
XX

Cooperoo · 17/06/2005 13:28

Welshie - I was looking at the weights the other day too. Perhaps now some of us are overdue we will have some whoppers to add to the stats . Glad you are well. I haven't popped over to the other side yet. I seem to have struggled to keep up here properly!
Bubb - Ooo nasty episode with the pidgeon. I remember my cat bringing in a mouse that was alive and ran up the curtains. I went mad, the poor cat was thrown outside and I tried to catch the mouse. Eventually I had to admit defeat and got the cat back in . Was at my mums and so couldn't leave it as it was. Awful experience. I hate it when they do that. Our other cat bought us lots of things, big birds and rabbits etc but they were always dead.
Charley - That ad sounds funny. Wish I had seen it. Any Pod action???
Lippy - Glad you are having a good day. I really did not expect to still be here at this stage. DD was overdue but started after 2 days and had arrived by the third. It is odd. I think I have scared this one into not arriving. And every twinge gets my hopes up.......
Right I am very hot so I am off to wallow in the pool now.

Cooperoo · 17/06/2005 13:37

Franni - x posted.
I am sorry you had such an upset night. I was doing that a few weeks ago and it is awful and you feel so helpless and lonely!! Big hugs. I think you will get a good response from your consultant and if you don't get what you are expecting try and take some strength from the fact that if they believe you can do it so you can!!!! I think your consultant helped you last time didn't he. I will keep everything crossed for you. Try not to worry about your waters going. You know what to do if it happens. I was told if you suffer from cord prolapse to get a wet towel and hold the cord up and get on all fours to the hospital asap. But it is not that common. This pregnancy has been very different to last time. Well I think I have waffled enough....take care. Will be thinking of you.
