Does anyone else get cramp in their toes? I get it at night in my calves, which is horrendous but have now started getting it in the day in my toes, it's a very strange sensation, not painful, just weird...

That's such great news MGC, just take care of yourself x

blue76 · 13/07/2009 20:41

stayfrosty good luck for thurs! I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time and feel gorgeous on the day

cautious My friend was telling me on Sat that they're chucking people out after 2 hrs! She said they're building new birthing pools but that nowt's going to be ready for another yr or so.

One thing my friend did point out on sat [which I hadn't really given thought to] was that she's been taking 2 weeks off her due date...I'm 30+1 today so possibly only 8 weeks. On the other hand, possibly 12 weeks to go...

Ladyem · 13/07/2009 22:01

stayfrosty - have a fantastic wedding on Thursday!! I'm sure you will look beautiful with your bump!!!

blue76 - scary thought!! That means I could have my baby in 6 weeks!!! [shock!] Arrghh!!! Beter get the bag packed!! Lol

BabyLady · 14/07/2009 09:05

Morning all,

Congrtas Stayfrosty. Enjoy your day! I know what you mean about feeling a bit like a heifer though. I have a wedding to go to (as a guest) next weekend and I have a lovely dress to wear. Shame that it is automatically converted into a tent when I get into it !!

Sprinkle I am getting lots of cramps in my feet and toes. Last Thursday I was taken to an art gallery viewing and was on my feet in high heels (albeit very small ones) for 2 hours. Got cramp in both feet and toes so had to limp off to the toilet so as to not emabarass myself and have to kick off my shoes in front of the the whole world!

Baby is being very vigourous at the moment. Also some of the movements are so wierd I keep thinking it must be having a fit or something. Now I am wondering whether it might have epilepsy . Talk about paranoid first timer. Plenty of hiccups too which are annoying when you are trying to get to sleep.

I am also getting quite sore on both sides of my upper legs after I have had a a night in bed. I guess it is because of the excess weight resting in one spot? Anyone else getting similar aches?

cautiousmumtobe · 14/07/2009 09:40

Blue - if everything goes smoothly, I'm happy for them to send me home after two hours. Hated staying in last time and will just want to get home and into my own shower and bed. I can't think of any benefit of staying - you don't get any sleep cos it's too noisy, the mws don't have time to help you to bf so given I vaguely remember what we did with DD, I'm just going to go home and get on with it.

Re. the two weeks things - I believe that you are essentially 'due' anytime from 37 weeks and the baby is not considered premature after this time. So for anyone due right at the beginning of September, that could effectively mean these babies could arrive anytime from mid August Although I can't work out which is scarier - the fact that this baby could arrive in six weeks or the fact that I may have to be pregnant for another 11 weeks!

TigerFeet · 14/07/2009 10:24

Another one here who wants to get home asap. Our hospital will release you after six hours, which suits me fine.

BabyLady sore hips are quite common in late pregnancy, especially in bed. All the relaxin floating round your body in preparation for birth loosens your joints which means that aches and strains are common. I have to move quite a lot at night as my hips and legs start to ache after half an hour or so. Poor dh gets a very disturbed night!

I'm hoping that this baby hangs on until after dd goes back to school. I just hope that I don't go too far overdue! DD was only 4 days late and that was bad enough.

LizLemon · 14/07/2009 10:26

Have a wonderful wedding on Thursday StayFrosty! You will look wonderful with your bump, and it will be lovely for the wee one to see the photos later on.

I've started saying 8-12 weeks too. 8 weeks seems very soon, hence the mad clear out at the weekend, but 12 weeks seems like forever. Can't be pregnant for another 12 weeks. Just can't.

re heartburn - I got some pills from the dr (omeprazole) which you take once a day and it reduces the amount of stomach acid. They seem to be helping already, and I feel really stupid for not getting them earlier. He also prescribed a giant bottle of gaviscon, and since prescriptions are free I feel even more stupid for not going sooner.

Ladyem · 14/07/2009 10:36

BabyLady Don't worry I get those strange movements and also did with DD. I call them dolphin flips as it feels like the baby is flicking about really quickly! Getting lots of hiccoughs, too, which I love! I think mine might be a greedy one when it comes out!!! Lol

I'm due on the 3rd sept, and my b-day is on the 1st sept, so I'm really hoping that I'm not in labour on my b-day!! (On the other hand, what a lovely b-day present!!) 7 weeks left this thursday, so going by the 37 week rule Could be in 4 weeks!!! OMG!!! That is too soon!!!

Still no physio appointment for my SPD . It's been 9 weeks since referral now!! Midwife already chased up once, too!

BabyLady · 14/07/2009 12:37

Thanks for the reassurance Ladyem, they are such quick movements I just can't think what is going on. Baby is engaged 2/5ths but can still move out - though unlikley (so the doctor tells me anyway??).

I have a hard lump that comes and goes at the top of my stomach and I am pretty sure it is the baby's bum. It gets harder than the rest of my stomach and then goes softish again. Wondering if it might be arching its back or stretching??

mumtobe23 · 14/07/2009 14:27

Hey, hope you?re all well or at least coping! Still l haven't had a chance to read many posts so sorry if i have missed any important news.

I only have about 3 weeks left to work but not only are the days & weeks dragging now I'm finding it so uncomfortable sitting at work all day.
I can't seem to sit right & the baby is squirming round like mad every few hours and although it?s nice & i do like feeling her move sometimes it gets a bit too much specially as I'm feeling so tired now.

I'm due on the 4th sept and agree with the feeling at the possibility of it being only another possible four weeks or so (going by the 37 week rule).

Babylady my baby too is head down and has been for some weeks (hope she stays there) and I get that hard lump that comes and goes as you've described, and I'm sure its the baby?s bum too.

audreyraines · 14/07/2009 14:30

i was drilling my doula yesterday about women who had early first babies are more likely to have early second babies. she was very non-commital though and said, you won't know if you have a pattern until AFTER the second baby. i'm due in 8 weeks, but really could be 6 weeks (ds was 2 weeks early). eek. i wouldn't mind to go slightly overdue as my mum gets here the day after my due date.

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2009 14:34

I agree - I'm 31 weeks and so 6 weeks seems like nothing at all, but 11 weeks seems ages away! When I finish work (on a Wednesday) I'll be a few days off 38weeks - think I'd like the baby to come on that Sunday - that way i get a few days off first (and some time without DS too as he'll be at nursery) but then I get as much time as possible to spend with the baby once he or she is born.

In the last few days I've started to get what i think is a foot which just kind of pushes out for a few seconds then goes back in I also spent some enjoyable time last night watching my bump move

audreyraines · 14/07/2009 14:37

my bump sometimes goes CRAZY. particularly at 2am when i'm trying to get back to sleep. i know that weird flipping movement quite well too.

mummyhill · 14/07/2009 14:53

For those getting cramp have you tried eating a banana? Apparently the potassium helps stop cramp.

I have a fidgety breech baby atm but plenty of time to turn. I doubt this one will engage till the last minute either.

I spoke to my physio and she has kept my file open from when I saw her at the beginning of this pregnancy so I am seeing her on Tuesday!

TigerFeet · 14/07/2009 15:01

I'm 31+ weeks too

6 weeks - fucking hell

daffodilli · 14/07/2009 15:23

Tigerfeet!! ditto!

Congrats on the date Stayfrosty! Bet you will be beautiful with bump! Have a fab day
(pics later please!)

Less kicks here, although lots of squirmings, like he cant get into a comfy position.Saw MW today and he's still head down, wonder if he'll stay that way?! Measuring 30cms for 31+2 so pleased with that. Also diagnosed with SPD! I thought I had a UTI! Dull first timer!
Another thing I find works with cramp is to stretch your toes as if your trying to touch your shins, really helps.

Mum got on ok yesterday, they wont commit themselves and give her an idea of when she will get results though.

cautiousmumtobe · 14/07/2009 15:28

Lizlemon - good tip on indegestion meds. I have a midwife appointment this week so might speak to her first then docs is she can't prescribe anything.

Ladyem - I'm due 13th and my birthday is 16th so I don't want mine to come late. I'd rather just get it over and done with then at least maybe I'll be able to have a glass of wine on my birthday!

I've got three weeks left in work which seems like forever at the moment as I am totally fed up but means I'll finish at 34 weeks. I wanted to finish later but am being made to use up all my holiday before I start mat leave so end of this month it is! At least that means I have some time to spend with DD and unearth the nursery from the piles of crap we've started storing in there!

blinder · 14/07/2009 15:45

Ladyem that's amazing! I'm due on the 4th but my birthday is the 1st Sept too!

I'd love LO to arrive before my birthday but then she will definitely be the youngest in the class so it's probably best for her to be on time or late.

Sod's Law I bet we both spend our birthdays getting niggles !

mummyhill · 14/07/2009 15:55

This one is due 19th. My birthday on 6th and ds's on the 22nd we also have a lot of other family birthdays in September so am hoping this one chooses it's own birthday iyswim!

nitnat84 · 14/07/2009 18:09

Hey everyone!
2 1/2 days of work left for me So excited but also exhausted. 30 6/7 year olds really make you tired when you are preggers!!!
Already getting lovely baby pressies from the kids in my class. One of the perks of being a teacher I guess!!!
Decorating the nursery next week so that is exciting. Cant wait to walk in and see it complete. Think I can see myself having a peek everytime I walk past the door lol.

Ladyem · 14/07/2009 18:31

blinder that's so cool!!

I would love to have the baby on the 2nd or 3rd as then I'll get a lie-in on my b-day!!! With DD I had no niggles, just went into labour in the middle of the night, so that would be fine with me!!!

Fingers crossed that we both have either had the babies by the 1st, or that they come a couple of days after!!

Ladyem · 14/07/2009 18:33

cautiousmumtobe fingers crossed that your baby comes before your b-day too!!

peachygirl · 14/07/2009 18:46

Hi all and welcome new ladies and some old faces we haven't seen for a while.
I saw the midwife today. A new one at my surgery - a man, oooh. He seemed very nice and reminds me of a good friend of ours,
It was a bit of a surprise.
Baby is still small for dates but seems to be consistant - 2 weeks under last time and 2 weeks under this time. The MW didn't seem too bothered saying I was within the 3cm guidelines they have.
He also said baby was head down but there's plenty of time for it to move all over the place, apparently second babies have more wriggling room.

Nit nat I have 3 days left from tomorrow although Friday AM is an easy one with the leavers assembly.
Good luck stayfrosty with the wedding
Bratnav Thank goodness it was only a UTI.

LittleCheese · 14/07/2009 20:24

hi ladies so strange that there are quite a few of us due so close to our own birthdays.

My baby is due on 5th and has lots of birthdays it could hit MIL 4th SIL 7th Me 9th Mum 10th.

I would quite like him/her to be early to be honest, mainly for selfish reasons like how rubbish im feeling lately.

Still got 6 weeks left at work although that isnt as bad as it sounds as i only work 2 days. Finding it hard to sit at my desk all day, back legs and hips/pelvis in agony by the end of the day.

It is a little scary that going by the 37 week idea i could have my baby in 4 +4 weeks although im quite distressed at the though i could be pregnant for another 8 +4 weeks

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2009 20:37

mine had better not arrive on my birthday - it will be 6 weeks late
