Hi everyone Can't believe we could have our first baby in 4ish weeks

FairySparkles · 13/07/2009 09:21

Yup - I burst into tears at everything too; adverts, kind gestures etc.. especially when dd gets genuinely upset about something (as apposed to crocodile tears!) and her little bottom lip quivers and she has tears in her eyes - I'm a mess!! - dp thinks it's hillarious!!

I'll put in a preference for a big fat cream cake please - any kind - just loads of whipped cream!!

LizLemon · 13/07/2009 09:36

Oh so glad it's not just me. I cried the other day when the woman in Cafe Nero let me use the staff toilet because they didn't have a customer one. As a warning to the teary - never ever watch a film called 'My dog skip'...

mw said that fitz is now in the head down position, which explains why I feel like I have a bowling ball resting on my bladder...

might actually have to make a cake today after all this talk.

BabyLady · 13/07/2009 09:50

Morning all - haven't been on for a bit as I had Friday off and spent a lovely long weekend in Kent looking at castles and eating nice food!

So sorry to hear about your Mum Daffodilli. Why is it always the case when things are going well in life something comes along to trip things up. Fingers crossed for the test results.

34 weeks this coming Wednesday and I am feeling seriously huge. I am getting paranoid that the baby is going to be enormous!! Only 14 more days of work..woo hoo. Heaps to get done before then sadly - lots of boring stuff like filing!

Hope everyone is feeling ok

TigerFeet · 13/07/2009 11:29

Hi all

Daffodilli, thinking of you and your Mum

Fingers crossed for Ladylush too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's unprepared, our spare room is still full of junk and I just can't be arsed to do anythign about it! Hopefully I'll start nesting soon and it'll all get done in a day

31+2 today. eek.

bratnav · 13/07/2009 12:32

We have had a busy couple of days [smile and

I started having cx just after I posted on Saturday, we ended up going to the DAU at around 9pm, after being monitored for 45 minutes the MW and doc were both convinced it was labour so DH and I were terrified. 4 cx in 10 minutes more than once then my wee results came back along with the swab which showed that I have a UTI which was irritating braxton hicks, got home at 3am hugely relieved but exhausted.

Emptied out our loft (well DH and FIL did) yesterday, I can't believe how much stuff we have up there. The great thing about moving is that we can have a good clear out I suppose.

Spent last night at Hotel du Vin, just down the road from us, but it was lovely. 3 course dinner, a glass of wine and an amazing suite. I knew there had to be some benefits to DH running a company that produces magazines . I think that's probably the last excursion for us for a while.

Weepy, tell me about it. Note to self, DO NOT watch ANYTHING where any child gets hurt or even upset. Above all, DO NOT watch City of Angels, I couldn't stop crying for 20 minutes after it ended

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2009 12:47

ooh glad everything is OK bratnav - that must have been worrying.
Still nothing from ladylush

FairySparkles · 13/07/2009 13:47

ooo bratnav - how scary!! Glad everything's ok now!

babylady - I too am getting paranoid I'm having a mahoosive baby, people just keep telling me how huge I am - even though I disagree they are starting to convince me that I'm going to have an enormous baby! dd was 8lb 1oz so i am a little worried that this one might be a lb or 2 heavier - been trying to find photo's of my belly with dd to compare

was wondering about ladylush earlier too stealth - hope everything's ok
-we should all make a pact to take a lap top into hospital with us lol

LizLemon · 13/07/2009 14:05

goodness bratnav - that's a bit too exciting.

We spent yesterday trying to finish emptying the little room which will have to receive everything from the spare room before we can put a baby in there. The living room is currently full of spare chairs, bits of old computers, dusty rucksacks, and two guitars. We should try to have a clear out more than once every four years...

Sad that there's no news from LL - still good fingers crossed and hoping all's well.

happyface01 · 13/07/2009 14:31

blue76 · 13/07/2009 16:32

Dp has stripped the nursery today ready to line and paint. He's going to paint some murals - he's already done a life-size Tink [see pics] on my friend's wall, so I can't wait to see what he designs this time. I've got loads more pics on facebook - so if anyone fancies a nose, my name's madeleine bell and profile pic is animal from the muppets...I had to change my photo as the kids in school sussed that if you type your name into google images, it comes up with your profile pic!

Oh the tears...yep definitely lots of em. But loads of mood swings too [usually directed at dp]

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2009 16:33

hi happyface
Is it your first baby? Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl? Where abouts are you?

OP posts:
Ladyem · 13/07/2009 16:35

Sorry to hear about your Mum Daffodilli. Sending lots of positive thoughts and chocolate fudge cake.

Also hoping that ladylush and baby are ok.

I'm 32 weeks now and starting to get a bit of panic that in 8 weeks I'll have to go through childbirth again!!! I'm kind of hoping that they come up with a new way to get them out in the next 2 months - possibly like on star trek, they can 'beam' the baby out!!!

Had a bit of a rash on my bump over the weekend, very itchy and convinced myself (in my hormonal state) that I had Obstetric cholestasis, but a quick trip to boots pharmacy and some E45 anti-itch cream soon sorted it out!! Think I had an allergic reaction to the freebie sample of stretch mark cream in the bounty pack!!! Lol!! Panic over!!

nitnat84 · 13/07/2009 17:47

Lots of posts today.
I had my antenatal appointment today. Am 31 weeks today and baby is head down. Measure 32 weeks so now I think I must be having a big baby especially after all the comments I am getting!
Ladyem- sucks about the rash. At least all gone now!
4 days left of work for me
Shame we cant get hold of ladylush.

audreyraines · 13/07/2009 18:03

wow, all these heads down, i still feel baby flipping around quite a lot, so i don't know what she's up to!

MumGoneCrazy · 13/07/2009 18:12

Daffodil - so sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. Fingers crossed for some positive results later this week.

Bratnav - sounds scary. I'm so glad everything is ok.

I take it nothing from ladylush. Hope she's OK.

Blue - haven't been to Arrowe to visit yet but went for a scan two weeks ago and the place is in a mess cos they are refurbing the wards so that they are all private rooms with en-suite. Shame that won't be anywhere near ready for us! I had dd in Arrowe two years ago before the midwife unit but I had her in one of the low risk rooms which is apparently the same thing. The room didn't have much medical equipment altho could get my mits on gas and air thank god. I toyed with a home birth this time round but have opted for hospital with a 3 hours release all being well. My friend did this recently - gave birth at 10am and was home just after lunch. I thought it was kind of the best of both worlds - comfort of the medical equipment and staff nearby but with a quick exit home to my own bed!

Thanks for all the indegestion posts. At least it made me feel as tho I'm not on my own. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat and I've tried the milk thing which kind of helps. I had tea with dd at 5pm this evening as am not in work today so will see if that helps.

I was 31 weeks yesterday and feel huge. I'm sure I was this size at term with DD! I did hear something about the size of your bump doesn't necessarily relate to the size of your baby - it's more linked to the amount of fluid in there - however a friend who has had two 9lb + babies had massive bumps both times! I'm hoping for another 7lber - nice safe weight but not too much to get out!! Can't believe babies will start to appear in less than two months.

cautiousmumtobe · 13/07/2009 18:14

Stayfrosty - we must have cross posted. Congratulations for Thursday. How exciting. Forget about what other people think and just enjoy your special day.

nitnat84 · 13/07/2009 18:23

StayFrosty-have a wonderful day and enjoy every second

blinder · 13/07/2009 18:54

[slaps stayfrosty very reluctantly before giving her a congratulatory hug]

I got my DS 12 year old baby clothes down from the attic yesterday! Why the hell didn't I keep anything useful? It's all half chewed books and 18 month old trousers. But some of the pyjamas did bring a tear to my eye...

I loved those pyjama cuddles best of all! And I had totally forgotten that his first slippers had Mr Bump on them. Maybe that's why he keeps falling off his bike / skateboard / own feet

SprinkleofStardust · 13/07/2009 19:07

Congratulations StayFrosty and have a wonderful day. I completely understand that you don't want your DP to go, I'm sure he'll miss you more though!!

bratnav · 13/07/2009 19:18

Stayfrosty - I got married the 1st time at 28 weeks and had a ball, just enjoy your day and sod everyone else

MGC - that sounds promising, fingers crossed for you

Speaking of measurements, I forgot to say earlier that they checked me at the DAU on Saturday night and I was 35 weeks

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2009 19:32

woo hoo MGC what a relief
Congratulations SF! Hope you have a lovely day. How long will your (new) DH be away for?

TigerFeet · 13/07/2009 20:22

Wow StayFrosty, have a great day!

Good news MGC.

Baby's having a wriggle, it gets uncomfortable sometimes but on the whole I like it

BLinder, I need to get dd's stuff down, she's only 5 so not quite such a gap, but I bet there's loads of stuff I've forgotten about.
