peachy dont think i've mentioned it but my dd is obsessed with my belly button. It is also an inney and never popped out in last pregnancy. DD tries looking in it to see "her bubble" as she calls the baby and if she talks to the baby its through my belly button, very odd.

blue76 · 17/07/2009 06:32

blinder I share your thoughts on hospitals and am looking forward to having her and settling back down in my own soft bed. I hated being in labour in hospital...hearing the screams of other women etc...I hate baby being taken away from me too. That said, I might bottle it and end up going into hospital!

Last day today. Woo hoo!!!

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2009 09:37

blue, why should your baby be taken away? Or do you mean it's happened in the past?
StayFrosty, hope your day was fantastic!
Well work (NHS) are stepping up the swine flu precautions, it's heavy rain and flooded roads here. It's just occured to me that 2009 will probably go down as a bad year (recession, swine flu...) but for us it'll be the year our babies were born

DD was taken away briefly when she was first born for a whiff of oxygen. In all honesty I was too drugged up to pay much attention to what was going on. She was back within moments thankfully and all was well.

My inny is still in

Enjoy your last day Blue! Today is my last day of peace, I don't work Fridays and dd is at school, but she breaks up for the summer today. Last chance to spend the day with my feet up [lazy]

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2009 11:07

Hope you get your home birth this time and enjoy snuggling in your own bed
Was just asking as last time it was made very clear to me that DS would only be taken away from me as a last resort, and they had a trolley in the room for certain things, light treatment etc (can't remember if that included oxygen?) Obviously if he had needed special care it would have been different.

wooo!!! Home from my last day at work! Have received some gorgeous gifts for the kids and my colleagues at work
Feet up and rest now!

audreyraines · 17/07/2009 16:45

yay for you nitnat. hope you enjoy your time off. i'm looking forward to the presents aspect of new baby

i'm down for a home birth, but still don't know what to do with ds. he's not sleeping at all well at the moment so is incredibly UNlikely to sleep through me mooing my way through labour, and my mum isn't arriving until the day after my due date. so guess i'll be crossing my legs until then.

blue76 · 17/07/2009 17:59

Stealth - vitamin k injections etc...it's just something I remember from back then. Also, they took them away at night so I could 'get some sleep'...I didn't want sleep - I wanted my baby with me!

Last day was fab. Kids had collected money and put a huge hamper together. Was a tad embarrassing when staff presented me with flowers and vouchers - some of them obviously didn't know I'm going back in Sept for a couple of weeks

Inny belly button here at the mo

peachygirl · 17/07/2009 19:02

just adding as I'm having trouble logging in

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2009 19:33

nitnat!!
blue - practice your fierce look for this time, you poor thing
Oh dear audrey. What will he be doing during the day if you're in labour in daytime?

for finishing work!! Have only got 2 weeks of 1/2 days left, the last one when I am 38 weeks! Will just sit on my chair and direct everyone from there! I am in awe of those working full time up until then, I am EXAUSTED!

Good news here, mum had her results today and the lymph cancer hasn't spread anywhere else, so now she will have the op end of the month, and then start chemotherapy, and a few weeks later radiotherapy as well. So will still be very tough, but thank goodness it hasn't spread.

Hope you had the best day Stayfrosty! Happy hols if you pop on here before you go!

bed now for me!

audreyraines · 17/07/2009 20:10

i think daytime should be fine with ds as i can call on my babysitter or friend to take him out somewhere. nighttime is more of a problem as there's not really anywhere else he'd sleep or be happy in the middle of the night.

i'm glad for your news daffodilli.

bigbang · 17/07/2009 21:42

Daffodilli, so glad you have had some good news about your mum. All the best of luck to her for the coming months.

I was going to ask if the amount of BH I have been getting is normal compared with you lovely folk, for the past two weeks I have had at least one every hour day in day out, often after I have been sitting for a while. I hardly had any with ds so to have them pretty much all the time is a bit unnerving, they aren't massively painful, just quite strong, makes me catch my breath iyswim. I get a lot of cramping pains too, but they don't coincide with the BH.

Well my other baby turns two this weekend, its gone so quickly. I have just made him a big dairy free chocolate cake, it smells so good my will power is being tested to the extreme! I met my friends newborn ds today too, new babies are just so perfect, little squishy faces and froggy legs, roll on September!

I guess no news from ladylush means she has had to go into hospital after all, and maybe our first September baby has been born?! I hope everything is ok.

How is everyone getting on choosing names? I am totally stuck tbh. I have two boys names, Felix and Alexander which I love in case it is a boy after all but girls names I am drawing a blank. I love quite a few names but can't think of any that I want to call my child iyswim. Maybe inspiration from others will help? May have to start a thread on baby names if I don't get my act together soon!

My belly button is an innie, never popped out with ds and hasn't yet so far this time either.

StealthPolarBear · 18/07/2009 07:37

good news daffodilli - hope her treatment goes well and is over as quickly as possible.
Hope your LO is born in the day or hangs on until your mum arrives ar!
I've only had a couple of BHs so far - didn't have many last time either.

Neddie · 18/07/2009 08:07

Hi all
Daffodilli Glad to hear that your mum's cancer hasn't spread- hope her treatment goes well- (mine finished hers last year and has has had all clear for now!). I hope ladylush is alright and baby is OK. I had to go to hospital on Wednesday as I was violently sick on Tuesday night and had heart palpitations and swelling all day. Luckily nothing much wrong- I am anaemic so they have put me on iron tablets and Lactulose (yuck)and I am going to have my heart monitored for 24 hours sometime next week. I think it's just lack of sleep combined with acid heartburn and sheer strain on my old body. I was doing so well but twins are definitely harder than single ones!!
I will be 32 weeks on Thursday so I think that is a safety milestone, they are fully formed by then and if they have to come out early they should be ok.

StealthPolarBear · 18/07/2009 08:08

Hi Neddie, glad you're oK xx

Orite girls

Neddie - what a hero!!! - I moan and groan at how hard carrying my one child is - what on earth it must be like to have 2 in there is unimaginable!!!! - this one kicks the shit out of me at every opportunity - I hope it won't follow suit once it's born !!

Daffodilli - woo hoo for some good news about your mum

My belly button has been out since about 16 weeks???? Still no brown belly line tho?? Anyone else?? I'm sure I had it by now with dd....

bigbang - I do get a lot of BH which are getting stronger the further along I get pg, but not as much as you sound to be tho?? Maybe check with your MW?? hope you have a lovely birthday weekend - don't think I could have resisted a chocolate cake!!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend - I've been breaking my back getting my house all clean and tidy ready for a viewing at 10.30(selling my house) - just for the buggers not to show up!!! - off to put my feet up with a coffee and swat up on my Gina Ford book while dd has her nap....

blue76 · 18/07/2009 11:55

Daffodilli - a ray of sunshine for your family

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT:
dd born 13/7/9 (30+5 weeks) weighing 3lb 10oz. She is doing really well despite her ultra early arrival. She is adorable I'm still in a daze tbh and feel like a cow as I am expressing 8 times a day. Will post when I get a chance and fill you in on the birth story. Hope everyone is ok and not having dramatic pregnancies like mine

AprilMeadow · 18/07/2009 13:04
