Stealth - I'm glad you said that, have to admit I did the same this morning, but I didn't like to say! Silly really as only worried about her, really hope all is ok.

Stayfrosty have a lovely day tomorrow! We'll all have a virtual drink to you and your DH to be tonight on MN! (fairy wings,L plates and feather boas included!)

Maternity/Sick leave - If I had any more time off from now my boss has said my mat leave would start from then, although I did use up all my paid sick leave and 2 weeks unpaid so not sure if that has anything to do with it? Very unfair really as you are at your most uncomfortable etc at the end of pg,and that should have no impact on mat leave at all.

Interviews have started for my job today, bit weird..!

FairySparkles · 15/07/2009 19:17

They have no right to make you start maternity early - and they're being out of order if they make you 'feel obliged to'. Like LJ said - if your sick in the 4 weeks leading upto your expected week of delivery then they can automatically put you on maternity but not before;

daffodilli - we cross posted in the face for your boss - no right to say that to you at all!!!

nitnat84 · 15/07/2009 19:56

So I got it so wrong. Told you to ignore my thoughts lol

daffodilli · 15/07/2009 20:26

Your right Fairysparkles! ! Just looked at the letter I had re my mat leave etc, and yep, 4 weeks! I try and be intelligent....ah well!

Fairysparkles I may volunteer at bf clinic too! It will be easier than the ante-natals!

Actually my MW has just gone on the sick today so I am going to meet a different one tomorrow. Hope it wasn't something I said .

Glad you are not going to take any crap daffs. Bloody cheek! I would stay on the sick right up until 4 weeks if I were you. And you have plenty enough going on to worry about. Stuff 'em! Stay at home!

right! Off to hen party !

Minshu · 15/07/2009 21:57

Ladyem - I started weighing myself at about 17 weeks and found that I put on a pound each time I got on the scales. So, turns out to be better to weigh myself less often I'm 30 weeks and have put on about 2 stone so far.

Oh no - I'm going to say it again (like Fairysparkles), sorry Gonnabamumma and Daffodilli - MWs here in north tyneside are all lovely.

LJ - I feel the same way as you - would rather get the flu now than when the baby's tiny, but that's just my gut reaction and I don't know if that's sensible.

Have a fab day tomorrow, StayFrosty!!! Thanks for the hen night invitation. On my way.

mummyhill · 15/07/2009 21:58

Thanks everyone I shall stick to my guns and get an official looking letter drafted if they start being daft! Good job I am in the law club I think!

blinder · 15/07/2009 22:05

Sorry mummyhill and daffodilli I have gotten hopelessly confused. All this talk of weddings threw me off. I meant all my indignant anger on YOUR behalf mummyhill.

Might go and have a lie down. Overwrought.

FairySparkles · 15/07/2009 22:16

Some of your employers sound like rightcheekyfuckers very naughty people!! Stand your ground girls!!
....I'd burn my bra if my saggy tit's didn't rely on it so badly

SprinkleofStardust · 15/07/2009 22:17

Hi everyone,

Gonnabeamumma - I have seen 3 different MWs so far and the one seemed ok but still holding judgement, also a first timer, I would just like some extra reassurance or knowledge just to put my mind at rest as my imagination goes wild at times and I'm convinced something is wrong when it's just growing pains or something 'normal'.

Re cramp: in yoga today a woman who is an accupunturist told us about a accupressure point that is on your knee, when you bend you knee it's on the end of the crease, just push there when you get cramp and apparently it eases it, but if you take it off the cramp comes back. Will defo try it next time!!

Really hope the maternity leave goes your way daffodilli, it's very naughty of your work to put that pressure on you.

Minshu and LJ I feel the same too, would sooner get swine flu now than the baby to get it when he's born, would worry far more then whereas now I can suffer and hopefully he would be born immune but unaffected (does it work like that, I don't know!!??)

I haven't weighed myself since I was 9 weeks will get round to doing it one day before the baby is here, just to see how much I have put on

Minshu · 15/07/2009 22:41

Sprinkle - that's exactly my rationale regarding piggy flu, but no idea if there's any genuine logic behind it. A couple of people from work are being treated and someone I work reasonably closely with thinks he might be getting symptoms. He's been working from home today to limit things (he's diabetic, so also high risk), but his wife apparently thinks he's making a big fuss about nothing

bratnav · 15/07/2009 22:54

DSD has swine flu, we had a major panic just now, her temp was 39.4, but we have managed to get it down now. DH keeps saying that we should send her to her Mum's, but the likelihood is that the 2 DDs will now have it as well, and there is nowhere to send them, so I think she should stay here.

I weighed myself yesterday and I have put on 8kgs since my booking appointment, but I was overweight to begin with.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2009 07:42

oh no bratnav, hope your DSD is better soon

Hen party link would'nt work for me last night first chance of a party in ages! I raised a lonely glass to you and your DH though Stayfrosty!!

Your poor DSD Bratnav! Bit of a worry for you, hope she gets over it quickly and it passes the rest of the family by x x

blinder · 16/07/2009 09:25

32 week check today (all good). Woman in next cubicle 6cms dilated and moaning poor thing. Got nasty icky anxious feeling now and felt faint with fear at the time.

Is anyone else a complete wuss?

Slap me quick!

TigerFeet · 16/07/2009 12:16

Oh bugger I missed the party

I was asleep by 9

Hope DSD is on the mend soon Bratnav.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2009 12:28

I struggled to get DS to sleep, lay on his bed and fed him, think he went to sleep about 9, I woke up at 10.45 Hate doing that.

BabyLady · 16/07/2009 12:37

Blinder you are not alone! I must admit (and very non-PC too) that I am sort of planning to have an epidural. If I don't need it, great but I feel relaxed knowing I can get one if I want to (I am seeing a private consultant so I have spelled this out in no uncertain terms).

My DH wants us to go and look at the delivery suite at QCs but a girl in my ante-natal class went last week and she said there was a lot of screaming going on in the surrounding rooms . I think it is just going to freak me out and not really add anything to the experience as I understand they look pretty much like a normal hospital room.

peachygirl · 16/07/2009 13:00

Hi everyone, only 1 and 1/2 days left for me. I'm very very tired today. DD woke up at 11.30pm ish and her nappy had leaked so a complete change of sheets was needed. The she came into us at 5.30 as ususal... Yawn.
I've been keeping track of my weight too but have it written in my diary.
Whose DD is obsessed with their belly button, because mine is too!! especially in bed in the morning or in the bath

blinder · 16/07/2009 17:48

thank goodness babylady! Although there won't be much of a chance of an epidural in my living room - I find hospitals even more scary than labour i think !

Hope Frosty's wedding went well!

Peachy, I just want my button to pop out but it is stubbornly normal, grr! If it popped out, I would be obsessed with it myself.

peachygirl · 16/07/2009 20:06

Mine is still an inny though and never popped out with DD.

TheTickListQueen · 16/07/2009 20:25

I had DS in the States and at the ante-natal class about pain relief we were asked who was going to have an epidural. Everyone put up their hand except me. I was a bit shocked that they were all sure before hand. My thoughts were I'd have it if I needed it but wanted to see how I went first. They didn't offer gas and air there.

Ended up having one after induction and the suggestion of a very long wait. Lay back watching cable TV, pain free and it was bliss. DS shot out quicker than they were expecting in the end also pain free.

TheTickListQueen · 16/07/2009 20:26

Hope you had a good day Frosty.
