Oh Lynny and Berolina it is so good to hear from you both!!!! I have missed you both.
Berolina - You poor thing having all these worries about little Samuel. I do believe newborn jaundice is very common and it certainly sounds like he is in safe hands. You are doing brilliantly to keep feeding him yourself too. It must be dreadful being away from him. Rest as much as you can and take care.... How many onces is 45g??
Lynny - Poor you too. You are really going through it. I do hope that you are able to post while lying down though as we have missed you. Lee certainly seems to be a real sweetie. Will you be induced or are they considering a CS? Take care and rest lots. xx

welshmum · 23/05/2005 13:47

Lynny you poor love - that sounds really awful. Loads of sympathy on the tachycardia too - it's a very unsettling experience. Hope you can get plenty of rest now your home again and top marks to your bloke for looking after everything.
Bero - sad for you that you had to leave the little one at hospital - that's very hard BUT jaundice is the sort of thing that clears up very, very quickly. The best thing for your milk is rest - so put your feet up when you can and don't do much else at all. When dd went back into hospital I found it hard not to do stuff - I was trying to take my mind off things. It's not the best in the end for you or for the baby though - please get as much rest as you can - thinking of you x

Scraggyaggy · 23/05/2005 13:57

Lynny - Good to hear from you. Big hugs. Not too much longer to go. x

Mirage - Congratulations!

Bero - I can imagine how awful it must feel to have to leave Samuel at the hospital, but just think in a few days, you'll all be together again, and it'll be wonderful. x

Scraggyaggy · 23/05/2005 14:00

Trib - Thanks for setting up the stats page - is really nice to be able to keep track. Everyone seems to be arriving a week early!! I've added it to my favourites

Could you change my due date to the 8th June please? The hospital had changed my date to the 2nd despite my protests, but someone then changed it back again at the 20 week scan. Thanks!

berolina · 23/05/2005 14:02

Thanks all. Will be going offline soon as going back to hosp. I should be ale to pop in once a day though.
BTW: Samuel is ADORABLE!!!

mcmudda · 23/05/2005 14:23

Lynny - have you been fitted with a support belt/Girdle thing? If not demand to see an obstetric physiotherapist ASAP. S/he can give you advice on positions for labour and what to avoid (ie lying on a bed on your back - DON'T DO IT!!)And get your partner to work out your "pain-free gap" ie can you open your legs at all without hurting and if so, how far - the midwives will need to know this.

I guess you'll have been told all this already, but just in case - if you can only lie down then have a pillow between your legs and one under your bump. DO NOT have a bath - only shower and only when someone else can help you out.
Only get dressed sitting down.
Keep your legs together when you turn in bed - it'll take ages but it's the only way to stop you separating IYSWIM!

HTH All the best and much sympathy from me - at least it'll hopefully disappear after the birth.

tribpot · 23/05/2005 14:25

Scraggy - will do. You were originally down as '2nd - 8th' but I just picked the first date for simplicity (I did that with someone else too, maybe RHM?)

Bubb, I am going to use green for Welshie's baby if her dd is right and it does turn out to be a boy called Shrek

Bero - great to hear from you, hope Samuel is home soon.

Lynny - great to hear from you, what a nightmare time. Glad that you're home and hope you can relax for a while.

Piece of Ewan trivia - my mate Louise snogged him once at youth club. And she now lives in the house where he grew up I was laughing at your description of Natalie Portman Jonah, you think would have weighed her pregnancy belly down a bit to make her behaviour more natural. And she was carrying twins!

Happy birthday to your dd Lippy!

sweetheart · 23/05/2005 15:52

Hello to all you Junies!!!

Just wanted to let you all know I'm still lurking and thinking of you all!!!

HUGE congrats to Cobweb and Uwila and of course you other early birds who have already had your bubba's. It's lovely to hear your all doing so well

I had my 12 week scan today and so far everything looks OK. I have more scans at 14, 18 and 20 weeks yet to come but once we're past those I will relax a bit.

You'll be glad to hear I'm being looked after very well - treated like a princess and quite right too!!!!

Take care everyone - I'm sending you all lots of love and big hugs with smoochie kisses!!!!

welshmum · 23/05/2005 15:55

Hiya Sweetheart, how nice to hear from you. So pleased everything is going so well - and especially to hear that you're being treated royally.
Take care of yourself and do keep us in touch with how you're feeling,
Love
WM

Lua · 23/05/2005 16:40

Hi everebody! Reading this thread cheered me up today! So nice to "see" Lynny and Berolina back at home! It won't be long for both of you before you are paying someone to change all those stinky nappies!

Lovely to hear from you, Sweetheart. Be sure that we all continue to spy on you, on the Dec. thread!

Happy birthday to Lipy's DD and Mcmudda. Humm... chinese take out sound great!!

All this talk about Ewan made me get quite crazy to go see Star Wars. I'll have to find a baby sitter soon! I am officially booked for induction on June 1st! I am truly unhappy. Especially because as of today baby is not even thinking about engaging and cervix is nice, long and SHUT!!! Thus, if thing don't change fast, chances of induction working is dismal... which means... CS!!! I don't want one!!! I am so thorn between asking for more time and feeling really stressed out that something can happen... What should I do?!

Lua · 23/05/2005 16:41

P.S. Uwila, nice to get your updates. I am hoping you figure out the whole system of having two before next week, so you can give me the low down. I am terrified!

tribpot · 23/05/2005 17:05

Scraggy - I've done your updated. Berolina, we are missing little Samuel's weight I think!

Lua, how awful for you. Has your consultant gone on holiday now? I wonder if it's worth trying to get a second opinion. You said the baby didn't seem particularly large, do you know why they're so keen to induce or is it just a flat-out policy about people with gestational diabetes not to let them go overdue?

Nice to hear from you, Sweetheart - all the best for your pregnancy.

PinkArjuna · 23/05/2005 17:44

Glad you are around again Lynny and putting your feet up.

Does that mean Samuel is in SCBU? (or however you spell it) Hope he looses his yellow tinge quick smart under the lamps.

Oh wasn't natalie portman's tummy neat. Luke and Leia seemed a whole lot bigger than that microscopic bump. Meanwhile I had water collecting in my ankles with my legs face down in the seat for hours. They could have at least puffed her up a bit I didn't like Obi wan as much as in the last film and found all the gushy stuff between Ani and Padme rather hard to stomach. Other than that I am sorry the saga is over now

Well I am gloriously unprepared for my exams and seem to have funny cramps. Though that said its the same as when I was constipated not that anyone wants to know that or anything But I sorta got contractions because I couldn't go to the loo then. I think its because he's trapping a nerve because I 've been roughly in the same position in the car and in college all day.

I might go for a walk so he'll move off a nerve. he's just getting far too heavy. Besides he isn't engaged at all because he is facing sorta side ways according to the midwife and he'll need to turn before he can drop down properly apprently. besides its weeks to go yet thank god

megi · 23/05/2005 17:56

Hello all!

Sorry to hear about little Samuel Bero - I'm sure it wont be long till you can bring him home!
Lynny - thinking of you too!

I've had an eventful weekend and day! - Had a show on Sat and Sunday morning. - Ante-natal with Dr. this morning - who is STILL concerned about the size (I measure 32 weeks) - and the fact I am feeling the baby move quite infrequently! - Sent to antenatal ward for monitoring. - This showed I was having regular contractions which were gradually getting stronger - over a period of 2 hrs. Cervix not dilated though - but "soft" whatever that means. Sent away for a walk for 2 hrs - still having contractions. Back for monitoring which showed still having contractions - but no change in the cervix. Then sent home!!! - They said it was probably pre-labour - so could be any time now - but I bet this goes on for weeks!

charleypops · 23/05/2005 18:41

Hi all

Thanks for your kind words about my blood pressure/protein scares

Lynny - I'm so sorry you're having such a horrible rough time at the moment. Giving birth must be the very last thing you feel like doing. They will be giving you a caesarean won't they rather than inducing you? I'm glad you're resting and you have Lee to keep things ticking over. Make sure you try not to get constipated on top of everything else from all those pain killers (they always have that effect on me).

Bero - sounds like you and the adorable Samuel are being very well looked after. i'm sure he'll be fine in a day or so - I know jaundice is ever so common. How are you feeding him formula by the way? Is he taking it from a bottle or do you have an at-breast supplementer? Hope your nips aren't getting sore. And like Welshie says - you must get as much rest as possible for best milk production.

Lua - poor you! I have an idea of how you must be feeling - It's been mentioned that I might have to be delivered early too by being induced or cs (find out more tomorrow) and it's SO not what I want either. I'd hate to have that decision based putely on the baby's size because as I've seen on this site, they can be so far out with their measurements. I'd be gutted if I'm given an induction/cs date. I think I'd try to be philosophical though. Do you have any choice? Can you find out what your team honestly think about the chances of a successful induction? If it's not great, maybe you could push for a cs, then at least you could be better prepared and not have to go through a painful disappointing labour?

Megi - How exciting! So you couldn't tell you were contracting then?? And what on earth is pre-labour? Good luck!

Sweetheart - hello! Lovely to hear from you, I'm so glad all's going so well for you. Fingers and toes crossed for you over the next few weeks! x x x

Lippy - Happy Birthday to DD1 - what a milestone! Are you staying anywhere nice while you're getting your floors done?

Uwila - I'm really happy for you breastfeeding well - it must make things so much more straightforward for you.

Uki - I've had a resurgence of that metallic taste that I had for the first few months too. Weird isn't it?

Coop - Glad you've got your ball fixed!
I think naming your boy after someone you fancy is perfectly ok You've just reminded me about coming home clothes so thanks!

Tea - oh my Goodness! Saturday! Aaarghhh! I remember now you told us ages ago about your ds coming out like Superman - lol! Poor you with your tear. Think I'll do a bit of massage after all....

Welshie - sorry you're tired, not long now though? You seem to be starting your own little Ewan fan club here - I think he's really sweet, but he's just not rough enough for me - now Max Beesley.....

MrsF - when do you stop work again?

Jonah - hope your cot's arrived by now. Why do couriers do this? I worked at one planning routes for a while when at uni and I can tell you, the drivers DO have an idea of when they'll be where before they set off in morning.

McMudda - lol at you not being able to fit behind your steering wheel! I'm glad it's not just me - I have to drive dp's massive very un-pc 4x4 van thingy now - gets very parking the darned thing sometimes I can tell you. Actually he's "given" me it because I can fit all the baby stuff in it and the dog really easily so I'd better get used to it Am intrigued at your dh posting on Mumsnet! What sort of stuff does he like to debate?

bubbaloo · 23/05/2005 19:41

evening all,

dont know about everyone else but we've had a lovely day here today with glorious sunshine-looks like summer is only around the corner.

uwila-glad the feeding is going well with alex and settling in back at home again.

jonah-hope you didnt have to wait too long for the cot.we got ours a while ago from m&p and their delivery times were virtually the same.we were lucky though as it arrived about lunchtime which meant it was assembled by the end of the afternoon.

lippy-hope your dd enjoyed her birthday today!

coop-i also had no nighties as i normally wear pj's and the only dressing gown i had was a thick chenile one,so ive bought 2 new nighties and dressing gown for the hospital along with new pj's aswell-so much for using old ones-ha ha!!

bero-sorry to hear about samuel.hopefully it wont be too long before he's well enough to come home

lynny-lovely to hear from you.glad you are now home and taking things easy.lee sounds like a really nice guy.

sweetheart-its really nice to hear from you too.glad everythings going well with the pregnancy and your being well cared for.like lua said,im sure theres quite a few of us who have been over to the dec thread to have a peek! take care.xx

lua-sorry to hear of your possible c-section.is there any chance they'll let you wait just a little bit longer to see if the baby engages?-fingers crossed!

megi-sounds like its all go for you.maybe you'll be the next junie.
funny enough ive been getting bh's for the last few hours and some have been quite painfull.dh is convinced the baby is coming before the weekend but i reckon its just that raspberry tea "doing its stuff"!!

charley-good luck again for tomorrow.hope it all goes well

PinkArjuna · 23/05/2005 20:17

Charley - I hope you can do the au natural thing and the bloody pressure doesn't get any worse.

Megi - I hope stuff goes smoothly aren't you due the same day as me? I thought 12 June? Though all these early babies don't seem to care about when they were due!

Uwila - whats breast feeding like? is it uncomfortable? is it easy/hard? I'm glad its going ok. I think I'd only do it if there weren't big problems. I know how it can be difficult and I've been to a bunch of classes about all the tummy to mummy, nose to nipple and baby to breast matra's that have infused my brain don't leave me feeling any more comfortable about having a baby on my boozies.

Well I have to revise. This time tomorrow my exams will be over. Hope everyone is well.

bubbaloo · 23/05/2005 21:35

pink-good luck with your exams tomorrow.

JonahB · 23/05/2005 21:44

Evening All,

Welsie, sorry my wires were totally crossed. I saw Ewan in Star Wars, not IN THE FLESH like you did, you lucky lucky girl.

Berolina, sorry to hear about poor little Samuel having to stay in hospital. I believe jaundice is v. common in newborns, but it must be a real worry for you, when all you want to do is bring him home with you. You look after yourself and try not to worry (easier said than done, I?m sure). He?ll be home where he belongs v.soon.

Lynny, lovely to hear from you. It sounds like you have a wonderful DH in Lee and you should sit back and let him look after you and Leona as he seems to be doing a fantastic job of it. There will be plenty of time now and in the future to tell him how much you appreciate him.

Sweetheart, great to hear from you. Glad the scan today went well and that you are being treated in the style which you deserve . Keep us posted??

Megi/Bubb, I?ll keep my fingers crossed for both of you.

Pink, good luck for tomorrow.

Well, my cot has now arrived, but its arrived as a flatpack. As it took me nearly an entire week to assemble the drawers last week, this one is definitely falling under DH's jurisdiction. I've also finally got round to packing my hospital bag. Feeling more settled and prepared now. I've tried the pineapple and curry, but I suspect I'm going to have to go for the (whispers...sex...) option in order to persuade bump to hurry up and make an appearence. I just want it over and done now, but I guess we must all be feeling like that now....

katzguk · 23/05/2005 21:45

johanb - mean to say got your letter

OP posts:
MrsWednesday · 23/05/2005 22:15

Goodness me, I can't keep up!

Sweeetheart, lovely to see you, and I'm so pleased your scan went well.

Berolina, I really hope Samuel will be hope with you soon, it must be very stressful being separated from him so early. Have they said what sort of timescales they are looking at? Hope you are recovering well anyway.

Lynny, poor you! It sounds like you are going through the ringer at the moment. It was lovely to 'meet' Lee, he seems like a real hero, and I'm sure he'll be looking after you well. Hope Leona is coping ok with all the upheaval.

Charleypops, good luck tomorrow! And Pink too - nearly there on the exam front. With any luck you 'll have a bit of time to de-stress (or at least empty your brain of college stuff) before the baby arrives.

Megi, blimey, it's all happening for you too! Did the scan reassure you about the baby size?

Lua, I can't remember, are you drinking the raspberry tea? Sounds like it's time to try lots of self-induction techniques. Why do they want to induce you?

Bubbaloo, sounds the tea is working its magic

Saw the midwife today and the baby is now 3/5 engaged . I asked her if this was the cause of the period cramps I've been having and she said it was. DH went out tonight and bought some plastic sheeting so we are all set for the homebirth (until I change my mind and demand to be taken to the hospital immediately labour starts )

Hope your DD had a nice birthday Lippy. Good luck with the cot assembly Jonah (I always leave stuff like that to DH, then go out if possible so I can't hear him shouting and swearing).

Cooperoo, good news about the ball, but you must be desperate to find out what's happening about the clinic.

Katz, any more contractions?

gwenynbee · 24/05/2005 00:20

After promising to check the threads daily - I have slacked over the weekend! Too busy massaging my perineum with Philip Berio!!! I have found some Olive Oil soap at my local herbalist too, so I will have the softest, stretchiest perineum in the UK by June 25th!!

I hope that all is well with you ladies! Congratulations to Mirage on the birth of her little lady!

Went to an aromatherapy and reflexology class on Saturday which was fab, they taught my dp some fantastic techniques and some pressure points to get me started if things were looking a bit slow! I was given some diluted clarry sage oil too, which I have had strict instructions not to use until I am in labour or after my due date if things haven't stared by then.

I can't believe that I have 5 weeks left. I am getting really fed up now, the house is a tip and the kitchen is nowhere near finished. I feel really premenstrual, and keep on being sick which doesn't help. When the baby moves now it just makes me want to chuck!I must be ill - as I didn't have any popcorn or pick and mix when I went to see Star Wars!

Never mind, I keep on reminding myself that the end is nigh, and there's not long to go now!

Take care ladies, love as always

megi · 24/05/2005 08:47

gwen - I know what you mean about having had enough! - I should have another 3 weeks! - My house is not organised enough either. - I should still be working still but after spending yesterday in hospital - that is it - no more! YIPPEEEE!
Pink - Good luck for today! - Yes I am due the same day as you - but dd was 3 weeks early! I know I am being silly - but I kinda expect this one to be early as well - which makes the waiting worse!
Mrs W - Yes - scan showed baby has grown - but still small. My GP seems to be more concerened than the hospital staff - thats why I keep ending up there! - I had a really good nights sleep - no bad contractions - but I am still having a show! - Am very confused! -
Charley - Pre labour is just the very very start of labour which can carry on for a few days - but isn't constant! I have had protein in my urine as well. It is a worry isn't it. - I am lucky though cos blood pressure is fine so I am not REALLY concerned about it.

Uki · 24/05/2005 08:54

Hi Again Everyone

Wondering if anyone is up yet???

Had appointment today and baby is 3/5 engaged.
I wish that meant baby was on it's way but, who knows!!!
