We are off to Ikea in the next few weeks! i want their fabler baby blankets and bits for his room. Ds's room is all nautical right down to the boat shaped bed! So would like ds2's room to have a theme of sorts. And love the fabler colours. Bit bored of red white and blue!

We also need a small wardrobe, but have a cot and moses basket. Not that ds spent much time in either but the cot was useful for leaving ds in when i was having a shower and getting dressed.

I have got a nice little collection of clothes that have been sent of to MIL who is going to wash and iron them all a few weeks before i'm due. I would really recommend washing all new clothes. As ds came out in a rash all over his body at 3 days old, a reaction to the chemicals used to treat the clothes. We only found this out after a trip to A&E in the early hours of the morning, i was really worried he may have meningitis. All very scary and draining! We got admitted and had to stay in over night to monitor him.

So please wash all new clothes!

I also need to sort through ds's old clothes from the attic and give them a wash and iron.

I was looking at alot of things here in Ikea, but will wait until we go home next month as its half the price! Also i was on the babies r us website who have a sale on, i got my baby monitors for £20 off & they are great. Must check what we have down in the cellar & start to bring the stuff up, my DH goes into a fit if he cant do something, and i think its going to be the cotbed again....hes one of those that will lose his head & go out and buy another one....its the Irish temper lol....

Hello everyone, not posted for a few days but been reading everything.

I have both dc's home(school hols) and have been busy meeting up with friends, going to the farm etc and I am a bit tired and achey.
My friend had her 3rd baby on friday. She had a 6lb 6oz boy. He's sooo tiny!! Adorable. She had a very quick birth. A show on the thursday, then nothing all day. Then a few contractions friday morning, then nothing till 5pm. When she had a couple (literally 3 ) painfull ones and went back to the hosp. Half an hour later baby was here!!! No tears etc. She looks great Her dh looks shattered

We have done nothing for the baby yet. I don't really want to . Almost still worried things could go wrong. When I was pregnant with dd my cousin's wife had a very late MC at about 8 months and it was so shocking. They had bought and decorated everything.
Maybe that's why I am not keen to do things.

Also we never have any time! Dh works most saturdays so that only leaves us with sundays to do jobs. And we have a never ending list of jobs.

The dc's need to move into one room so that is a big decorating job there. We are decorating it half pink and half blue. With white bunk beds. Need to sort out all the toys so that dd's things fit into the room (which is just ds's at the moment)

Not decorating the room which which the baby will have as dd will go back into it once the baby is old enough to share with ds.
dc3 will have to cope with it being pink!!!

The car seat, cot, buggy, change table etc are in the loft and will come down once dd moves in with ds. Whenever that is. And I'll wash the clothes then. I need to look through them and see which ones are ok, and which ones I still like.

I have decided that I will buy a pouch sling though. I don't want one with any buckles, straps, knots etc so a pouch seems ideal. I didn't have one with ds or dd. But both dc's wanted to be held for the first 6 weeks. And with 2 dc's already I think a sling will be handy. Can't decide between a Coorie www.brightsparkslings.co.uk/slings.htm
Hotslings www.hotslings.com/
Or a Lifft www.lifftslings.com/site/content_home.php Although I am not keen on the logo being so large on the lifft design.

Ikea I love !! We got the cot that all the babys have used from there. Its an egg shaped one and lovely. I will use the same matress as it's not easy to buy egg shaped matresses. Do you think this is ok???

Lovely names on here. I'm not mentioning my choices

Hope you are all well.

Hi everyone-feels like it has been months since I was last on here but must only be 2wks!!! Had a crazy busy time-DP had time off as it was all 3 of our birthdays-so lots and lots of busy days, dd's party etc, plus DP proposed to me!

All in all been a fantastic time but I am so knackered now! Today I have a really nasty pain in my ribs on the right side-can't stop it hurting

Had real trouble catching up-can only remember 2 things: twinkle-Oh my god-what a stressful time-I hope the rest of the results come back ok.
Boob-wow! 7 wks!!!!!

My friend and sisters sil have both had their babies! One boy one girl. Both gorgeous!

Have not done a thing to get ready for the baby yet-really had better start seeing as i'm 32wks on sunday!

Will try and keep up now-will be good to see what others are buying/thinking of buying etc-might make me do something!

Hope everyone is ok x x x

lal123 · 29/07/2009 15:14

re decorating - we've got 4 bedrooms, ours, DDs, Spare and a room DD uses as her playroom. We're planning on having DD2 in with us for a few months so haven't started seriously thinking about how we're going to arrange things when she arrives. I think she'll have the spare room and we'll keep the playroom with a sofa bed in it.

I did a big wash of baby stuff last weekend just to see what we had and to give me an excuse to start shopping for LO.

Its all starting to get exciting!

littlepea72 · 29/07/2009 16:19

OMG SammySam!!!!! Congrats to you both, i am taking it that you said yes lol....I really wish you both all the best for your future together xxxx

Im not able to sit down or bend down now lol...not much room left & im getting times were my tummy gets so tight. Cant believe ive got another 10 wks to go, feel like there isnt any room left for another 1o wks! It must be the way the wee one is Sammysam, right under your ribs....lol.....

PrincessMel, love the lifft sling, might be what ive been looking for. You really do have me guessing, first with the sex of your DS & now with the name lol....

hackneybird · 29/07/2009 16:45

princessmel Please check out www.slingdiva.co.uk/aboutus.htm She is my friend, lots of mums in my area wear them.

sammysam · 29/07/2009 20:54

Thank you ladies! Very exciting-especially after 7yrs together. I had an incling that it might be happening sometime but I was totally shocked and amazed that he had a (gorgeous!) ring!!!!
Trouble is we're going to plan it for next may/june so we need to start sorting it now

You've got me thinking about slings/carriers again-really must start researching as I really want another one-I loved carrying dd all the time so i'd love to have 2-3 to choose from

HumphreysCorner · 29/07/2009 21:00

Mahoosive congrats sammysam-can we have a pic of the ring?

SPD painful here, only another 9 weeks to go. Have another visit to the MW tomorrow so will get measured to see if I am the right size.

Love to all.

LittleMissBliss · 29/07/2009 21:58

CONGRATULATIONS! sammysam !

twinklegreen · 30/07/2009 08:15

Congratulations sammysam!

I have a lifft sling and I love it, it's so easy to use, nothing to tie or buckles to do up, just a bit of nifty folding and you're away!

theboob · 30/07/2009 09:08

congratulations sammysam

KleineMaus · 30/07/2009 11:08

Wow, congratulations Sammy, how exciting!

I've now had nearly a week of DH being me and looking after DS while I swan outside to the office to do some work (I'm trying to finish copyediting a book) It's great! I think he's feeling a bit guilty that he's just about to go away for three weeks and also I went a bit mental last week about never getting any time to work! It's such a novelty to have proper time for it instead of having to get up at six to do it before DS gets up and always having to sit down at the computer when he goes to bed. I now have time in the evening for other exciting things like doing the ironing in front of crappy tv!

I haven't got anything ready for the baby yet. Need to get moses basket from SIL and get things washed, but it still seems too early. We need to get our kitchen replastered and DH has booked the plasterer for 21-25 September. My due date is 27th and I've already told DH I'm planning to have the baby at least a week early (DS was a week early). Hmm, methinks this isn't going to work out. I'd really like to be able to bring the baby home rather than stay at my mum's (although I'd get more peace and help I suspect at my mum's, maybe it's not such a bad idea...)

BellaCullen · 30/07/2009 19:15

Congratulations sammysam and hope you find a great venue for next year.
Has the pain near your rib stopped?Had that last month it hurt over a day must be the way the baby is lying.I tried poking him and everything to get him to move,he did in the end.It its painful though and you can`t get comfortable sitting down either.

Funny that lots of us bought the same playmat from Ikea.Got my M&P carseat back now will use that.Got a lovely changing bag from Cath Kidston www.cathkidston.co.uk/p-13052-cath-kidston-nappy-bag.aspx I just love bags. Also got a nice toiletry bag for hospital, just need to get some small bottles to put in it now.
Going out for drink tonight with friend from school.Have a good evening.
X 31 weeks tomorrow

littlepea72 · 30/07/2009 22:03

Is anyone having trouble breathing? I think im sitting alot higher this time and that might be why, but its kind of scarey. Cant lie down either. I think im ready to have the baby now lol....just want it over with!!

idreamofbeanie · 31/07/2009 10:06

Morning all,

CONGRATULATIONS Sammysam! How exciting. I hope you find a fantastic venue soon.

I saw the midwife yesterday and everything was fine except that the baby is breech - they didn't seem too worried as I am only 31+5 and the baby is still very high up and active so she has plenty time and space to move but I'm hoping she is head down by my next appt - I need to spend lots of time looking elegant on all fours to encourage her to turn . She apparently doesn't like being prodded at though and kept swiping and kicking at the student midwife who was trying to have a feel - not even born and stroppy already .

I have provisionally booked a home birth - as long as my blood pressure stays low and the baby turns there shouldn't be any problems. The midwife is coming a week on Sunday to run through a checklist and have a longer chat about it. It makes the birth seem quite close and very real - very exciting and scary!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 31/07/2009 12:57

IDOB, just reading about your chat with your MW re the homebirth, I don't know what discussions you've had regarding pain relief, but I thought I'd mention that it should be possible for you to get pethidine for home administration if you want to have it on standby.

Having a home birth doesn't mean you have to manage without pain relief, other than gas and air, of course. My MW requested a prescription from the GP, which allowed me to pick up an ampule of pethidine from the pharmacy, you don't get the needles to go with it though! The midwife brings them!

I ended up transferring to hospital instead of having a home birth so just returned the ampule to the pharmacy.

Hope that doesn't come across as patronising if you knew it all - but I had no idea, it was only one particularly 'supportive of homebirth' midwife that organised it for me.

LittleMissBliss · 31/07/2009 13:18

Bellacullen Great minds think alike! My Cath kidston bag arrived today but i go this one!

A lady on e-bay is making me a pram liner, blanket (for DS) and baby blanket out of the same fabric, but the original cowboy version not mini cowboy. They should be arriving to-mo hopefully. She is very reasonable here's her website Along with the double buggy, which wasn't sent last week because pay pal held my payment from the seller. They thought a 3rd party had accessed my account. It took a long week of phone calls, e-mails, and faxes to prove otherwise! Very annoying but looking forward to buggy arriving now!

I am seriously edging towards OCD, the cleaning is becoming obsessive, i think dp is getting worried. i was cleaning the fridge inside and out at 11pm last night!

idreamofbeanie · 31/07/2009 14:43

Thanks STT, I was given the checklist to look through in advance and I noticed it has a section for pain relief and TENS, entonox, meptid and pethadine are all down 'to be discussed'. However I have no idea what her attitude will be so it's good to know that other people have had them at home in case they are needed.

MeHimCatBlob · 01/08/2009 17:30

Hi all

Sammysam - congrats - my DP proposed when I was about 3 months and we got married at the end of June so you have loads to time!!

28 week bloods this week which i really want to get out of the way (needles are not my thing and its kind of a constant thought but a necessary evil). will only be the 2nd time I've seen the midwife which will be a little strange - am hoping I can finally get my MatB1 form for work!

thanks IDOB for mentioning TENS - i keep meaning to order one but have so far failed to remember when I'm on the internet so will do it now!

hope you are all enjoying your weekends

KleineMaus · 01/08/2009 20:08

LittleMissBliss - I got the Cath Kidston cowboys changing bag as a work leaving present when I had DS. It's great and I'm looking forward to raking it out to use with the new baby.

I've been feeling slightly smug about feeling really well and having lots of energy still, but no more. The tiredness has suddenly hit and I'm wondering how I'll cope with feeling like this for the next 8 weeks (or even more!) Not getting much sympathy from DH either. We were out at a cafe today and he said he didn't want a cake, and then he told DS that he could share Mummy's cake (grr!) and then after I'd given half of the cake to DS DH started mooching and I ended up giving him half of my cake. So in the end all I got was a quarter! He has no idea how much I wanted to eat that cake, I was ravenous and furious, but it would have felt greedy to go and buy more cake just for me so I just sulked instead!

KKKKaty · 02/08/2009 10:39

Just to say KleineMaus that I can feel your cake pain. Cake has taken up a huge importance in my life recently...

SassJ · 02/08/2009 21:53

Ooh - me too! What is that about? I'm normally not a sweet-tooth-type at all (give me crisps and cheese over candy any day!!), but the last two weeks I've been cake mad!
30 weeks tomorrow and starting to need those afternoon naps again - the 'easy' second trimester seemed to fly by. In crazy house-cleaning and tidying mode at the moment, building wardobes, re-organizing EVERYTHING and making room for the baby. Even went out and bought a seemingly obscene number of nappies today (200) - bet they only last a couple of weeks though! Starting to get nervous about the birth now too - hoping I don't freak out when the time comes.......
