Thought I'd better start the new thread before it was too late. Here we go!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
divedaisy · 25/03/2009 21:31

My MW told me the head was down, and I've noticed bump isn't stuck under my right ribs now - so maybe bump has dropped too. That would also correspond with the increase in pelvic pubic pain recently too.

EmmalinaC · 25/03/2009 21:32

Llare there's one of those dodgy hand car wash places near my work and they charge a fiver so I assume that's about the going rate. How long do you think it will take her? Minimum wage for under 18s is only £3.53 (not that I'm suggesting you pay her that!).

Am quite relieved to be reminded about the breathlessness by this thread. I got so out of breath earlier after climbing some stairs that I felt a bit panicky. Not looking forward to LO dropping though - am already getting up 4-5 times a night for the loo.

Divedaisy Surely you have to take it out to give birth?!

llareggub · 25/03/2009 21:36

Looby actually I think your reading is quite low. Do test yourself in an hour or so and have a snack if you feel you need one or if your reading falls any lower. If I fall under 4 I am at risk of hypo as I take insulin, I'm not sure if that advice applies to you as well. You might want to check with your nurse. I had a very low reading similar to yours once and it was due to me having wet hands when I tested, so the blood was diluted. When I dried them off properly I had a higher reading. Don't stave yourself!

Omlette and salad is great for a diabetic, but don't forget the slow releasing carbs. One of the mistakes I made in the beginning was to cut out carbs completely, but I risked falling low and going into hypo. Maybe add some sweet potato or something?

LoobyLou36 · 25/03/2009 21:36

divedaisy you were really brave going and having that done on your own - mind you I don't think I could have taken one of my friends with me

Momino · 25/03/2009 21:36

divedaisy, ... can't even fathom! (squirming uncomfortably) lol as 'assessed suitability' .

Jael, poor you. Hope you're feeling better and sending big hugs.

sausage, hope things went ok.

everyone else I hope you're ok.

dd2 fell at nursery resulting in a massive bump on the head. took he to A&E and all is well, thank goodness. in any case, have to make up for lost work time now so back to emails, etc.

llareggub · 25/03/2009 21:37

EmmalineC thanks for that. Maybe I'll stick to her quoted rate. I just feel guilty because the car is so big!

divedaisy I can't believe you had the guts to do that. I haven't even got the guts to go and have a professional hair removing job done down there!

llare lower reading 3.7 so have just had a thin slice of date and walnut cake and a cup of tea

If I have the same sort of readings tommorrow should I ring the diabetic nurse do you think? She said if I had 3 high readings in a row to get in touch. My readings just seem high or low

FiKelly · 25/03/2009 21:46

divedaisy I'm squirming at the thought.. good on you for having the guts to go on your own.. I wouldn't have taken any of my pals either bit too personal and I'm quite a prude. I won't even go topless on hols in front of anyone I know except dh and ds!

momino glad dd is ok what a scare.

LoobyLou36 · 25/03/2009 21:49

went to relaxation class today at hospital out of 13 women there 11 are due between 1st-8th May going to be a busy few days in the delivery suites if we're all near our due dates

Also one women asked about the parentcraft classes we'd all signed up for, apparently the lady who was supposed to send out the notification letters out went on holiday and no one else sent them out. So parentcraft class was on the 21st March and I've missed it - hope I can get into another one

FiKelly · 25/03/2009 21:50

and thanks for doing the list too.

llareggub · 25/03/2009 21:58

Looby I think it is worth giving her a ring, but I also think it would be worth asking for the contact details of the hospital dietician, too. I've always been far more bothered about the high readings than the low readings, and in the beginning it is a bit experimental in terms of what works for you with food.

I was told my readings would go up overnight, and they do, and someone on mumsnet has told me that her GD started to get better when she was 33 weeks or so, so that could be what you experience without needing insulin.

emmabemmasmom · 25/03/2009 22:02

Don't know how to add myself to the list but I am having DD #2 due May 17th (also my birthday! wheyhey...not lol)

OMG to the piercings tales - I'm very squeamish about them (not even got ears done) So think anything else is very brave esp clitoral (crosses legs in fear!!) I don't think it will "get in the way" will it, I think everything goes downwards (you know little grazes and stretching etc) not upwards in that region - thank god

Re birthing - completely second Dandy's comments (and others) - have to do what's right and comfortable for you. Its hard enough for first timers without being scared witless - I too ignored the scare tales first time round - trust in your ability and your body, go with the flow, chill and as long as LO arrives safe and sound it really doesn't matter how you achieve that. Plus if I can give birth then I'm damn sure anyone can

Oh and when I say hard enough for 1st timers I just mean - fear of the unknown etc, its the best thing that can ever happen to a girl IMO - such a FAB achievement and wonder of nature.

Frazz hello chuck, have a wee shortlist for Edward which is under constant review, Archie is currently fave for both of us tho I also like Henry. DP likes Charlie but we can't have a Charlotte and a Charlie now can we!! I like Edward as well (and also Eddie Izzard!)

DD has been under attack at nursery again today - so far we have had one bite on her finger and a nasty scratch on her forehead - same toddler is doing the attacking, not just to Lotti but to others as well. Am seriously P*ssed off about it - these kids are less than 2 - what is going on??? Nursery won't disclose who the child is, which I kind of understand but what can they do - expel the little monster?? Having a serious chat with the manager tomo as I don't think its on.

Ok off to get snuggled in my newly laundered, ironed, scrummy bed - may send DP upstairs so I can luxuriate solo

To those having scary illnesses and wobbles - big hugs and hope you feel better soon x

Momino · 25/03/2009 23:35

thanks Dandy, Fi, Dd2 seems fine, swelling went down a bit too. we're just to watch out for excessive sleepiness, vomiting, etc. but she was fine tonight. i guess I just wanted to be careful to get her checked b/c you never know with a head blow, right?

really tired but have lots of envelope stuffing to do. my stupid laptop keeps crashing though every time i leave it idle. i've got to call dell to get help. that's the prob working from home is that i have to be my own IT dept and I've got no knowledge. sigh.

hope most of you ladies are sleeping happily.

detsy · 25/03/2009 23:44

Oh I think £5.50 is ok if its an hour or less for a 15 year old. Unsure what going rate is for kids - i pay my sister £7.50 an hour when she cleans for me (she's 19 tho)

Spangle sent the cds - you should have got them by now, hope so and hope they work for you

Couldn't sleep last night for first time due to bump size and being uncomfy - as was Pip and had no doubts about letting me know. Also up and down to deal with teeth niggles, snotty nose and lost dummies. Have sewn a short ribbon onto sleeping bag and tied a knot to attach dummy to other end. Its very short so won't present any hazard and am hoping it means she can find her own dummy at 2, 3, 4 am...

My bump movements are uncomfortable now and think this is because baby is low down? I've never been told the approx weight of baby - will sonographer just tell me next week (growth scan due to my very advanced years..) On my charts I've plotted average all the way through so guess he'll be average weight too - Lotti was 7lb 5oz

detsy · 25/03/2009 23:47

Momi sorry missed the head bump with your DD - glad she is feeling better and I agree can't be too careful with heads.

I work at home and have IT support frm co but its frustrating being remote so your situation must be worse still - keep breathing!

detsy · 25/03/2009 23:50

Oh and 1 more tiny thing - re dreams, had a horrid dream where DP buggered off with a woman called Denise cos he wasn't getting any sex at home and I found a little hand sticking out of my foo and when I told him on the phone, he was like, oh well, call your mum. I woke up all upset and worried (but no little hands - thank goodness!!)

Momino · 25/03/2009 23:58

detsy, thanks.
i'm now just MNetting every 5 so my computer doesn't 'freeze'.

my bump is uncomfortable too at themoment. would love to know approx weight of baby. going Fri for size check at MW who will determine whether or not I need a growth scan.

more annoying is the itchiness of the bump. i've got such a bad rash from the stretching (bump much bigger than last 2 pregnancies) with red spots, etc. i'm putting cream on but not helping.

uhoh. i hear dd2. very unusual for her to wake. better go.

llareggub · 26/03/2009 08:17

Momimo just a quick message as I have to go and make breakfast for starving son, but my rash has completely gone since I started taking iron tablets. I am wondering if it is a complete coincidence or not. Literally the day after I started taking them the rash went!

Jennster · 26/03/2009 09:06

Thanks for updating the list Dive Hope you don't mind me amending the ages of my dc. Couldn't bear to see it look like dc3 was conceived only 4 months after ds born.
My navel piercing didn't hurt at all. Less than my ears and I didn't even have an anaesthetic because I was too tight to pay for it. Think the name of the bit you want pierced is tragus. Now that I believe really hurts. Had the top of my ear pierced by my sister and that bloody hurt!
