Thought I'd better start the new thread before it was too late. Here we go!

pulapula · 23/03/2009 20:04

Oooh, if i haven't missed the round, mine's a cosmopolitan please, with some king prawns and sweet chilli dip, brie, runny fried egg sandwich etc etc.

[pulapula chuckles to herself as she pretends she's been really good for the last 7 months even though she had pate and brie at christmas, has eaten prawns and smoked salmon (is that banned?), runny eggs, had the odd glass of wine ....)]

runningmonkey · 23/03/2009 20:06

Hi all just marking the new thread. Am almost caught up but it's a bit slow as on phone via 3g at mo because... We moved house! It was a complete nightmare last week of it's on/it's off until 3pm thurs when we finally got the nod that we had exchanged and had to complete by Friday!! Cue frantic packing, a mercy dash across the country from my brother and we were in the new house fri afternoon. Am absolutely knackered and I don't really feellike I've done anything.

fi sorry to hear about your house woes I know it's not much consolation but I was exactly in your shoes a few weeks ago and it will get better. My advice re schools is to have a look around as you can only really get a feel for a place that way. If I was you I would go for space but that's prob because I hated our cramped old place.

jael am so shocked by you mil how dare she. Can you bypass her and speak to future sil directly about the reason you can't let dd go? Would she be more understanding?

Belgian thanks for the new thread amloving the title

Hi to everyone else, hope all are good... I'm with grumpy on the caipirinha yummy

EmmalinaC · 23/03/2009 20:09

Hello everyone - lovely new thread, thanks Belgian, like the title too.

Had a good chuckle at the topiary discussions at the end of the last thread. I have been sort of ignoring that area now that I can't even see it!

Today was my first day of maternity leave. Last time I worked to 36 weeks but was on crutches due to SPD so this time I thought I'd start earlier (34 weeks) so that I can actually enjoy it for a bit. I took DD to nursery this morning but then missed her so much and felt so guilty about not really having anything to do that I did all the chores and then collected her early.

Forbidden foods... mmmmmmm... pate, sushi, smelly cheese and champagne. Can't wait. I am so looking forward to not having to follow everything with a Gaviscon chaser.

Anyone tried Gaviscon Advance? The texture is really unpleasant and very hard to swallow, if you catch my drift. Bleurgh.

alapala · 23/03/2009 20:16

Caipirinha here too please, then a margarita (no salt), then I'll fall over. So jealous of ML - i have till 1 may, but I'm part time already so can't complain too much..

LoobyLou36 · 23/03/2009 20:23

at your MIL jael

can I have some pate please? and some lovely ripe stilton?

Went to the hospital today about gd. When they rang yesterday to let me know about the appointment they told me that the mw would be able to talk me through diet, explain how to test my blood etc. When I got there they'd booked me in with the mw who'd done my GTT who basically just confirmed I have gd and explained that she was trying to book me in with a diabetic nurse - so the trip to the hospital was a total waste of time .

Altho one good thing was that when I was there she chased them up again (left a message on their answerphone).

I had to pop to my mums after the hospital but when I got home they'd left a message on our answerphone.

Fingers crossed if I ring up in the morning I should be able to get an appointment tommorrow.

frazzledoldbag · 23/03/2009 20:28

Right then, here you go [produces silver trays loaded with cocktails and dishes of delicious nibbles]...tuck in ladies! Am off for a bath shortly - may have to undertake some ladygarden topiary (with the aid of a mirror I should think) - trimmed it recently but it seems to be growing with a vengeance at the moment.....or maybe I'll just book a wax, my eyebrows are in serious need of attention too ATM!
fi For what it's worth I think I'd buy the bigger house with the bigger garden in the less nice area with the better school. Hope that helps! (although I'd visit the school to make sure I liked it first). I am a firm believer in 'the one' though, so if you love the other house then perhaps that's the way to go. Good luck with the decision, I'm sure you'll get it right
Bath beckons, catch up soon. Enjoy the fantasy cocktails all x

Belgianchocolates · 23/03/2009 20:38

Ah, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. I stick to almost all of the food guidance, except for the brie thing and my egg isn't always totally cooked through, but they're from our very own healthy chickens, so I don't think I'll catch salmonella from them . I have no trouble with not eating blue cheese, because I don't like the stuff anyway.

Just read 'fox in sox' to dd. Gosh, I definitely need that cocktail after doing that. And it's not a book to read after having had a cocktail either!

JAEL Come to Queens Burton, the staff there fantastic for my last ECS and been good this time for planned x

Belgianchocolates · 23/03/2009 20:43

Sorry forgot to refresh and missed half a page of posts. 'It' is chorizo for those of you who are wondering what on earth I'm on about.

I eat prawns. They're OK as long as they're cooked through. I actually made a quiche yesterday with big king prawns. Yummy.

DH is getting the crib down from the loft as we speak. Exciting! Now I can finally get a matress for it.

Belgianchocolates · 23/03/2009 20:44

A few of my ex-class mates work in Burton. It is supposed to be good there, jael. If it's not too far for you, it's definitely a good option.

flippineck · 23/03/2009 20:49

Evening all! Have I missed the drinks? Can't decide what to have...glass of good champagne, a sea breeze, a margarita or a mojito. What's good tonight? And I'll have some smoked salmon and blinis with that please. Or maybe a runny fried egg and brown sauce sandwich.

Like the new thread! I'm a non-gardener, aprt from very occasionally immac/veeting a bit if a swimming costume demands it. Think DH would get suspicious if I started maintenance now. Poor bloke had a nightmare the other night - I'd asked him in the evening if I could have a pedicure, he wasn't wildly enthusiastic because of the cost (and because I usually do my own feet pretty well, if I may say so myself). Anyway, next morning, he told me he'd been dreaming about me going out and spending hundreds of pounds on beauty stuff, he was obviously quite scared by it!

I've been off work today as DD has got conjunctivitis and the childminder won't take her until the gunk stops oozing (nice!). I think work probably aren't that impressed - next week is my last week, I'm already off on Thursday this week for a MW appt, and then I phoned in this morning. I'm sure they think I'm just taking the piss really, so I'm really hoping that I can go in tomorrow.

Looby - how annoying about your appointment! Hope you get a better one tomorrow, I think you really need it now, not in two weeks.

Jennster · 23/03/2009 21:12

Evening all. Caipirinha here too please, with a side of co-codamol.

Get me. I bought some skinny mat jeans today when I realised I only had summer cropped trousers which I am extremely unlikely to get to wear, one pair of jeans and my cheapo not maternity size 16 loose 'yoga' pants. I'm not even in my twenties and I think I look alright in them!

pulapula · 23/03/2009 21:29

Jennster- well done for buying skinny mat jeans, and in your thirties too lol!

I am getting really about my mat wardrobe- tops keep riding up (too small), jeans/combats keep falling down (and pulling my pants down with them til i'm almost bearing my whoe arse ). Jeans that i wore to the end of my previous pg are already too tight

I am only 31 weeks, and quickly running out of clothing options- might have to start wearing my jogging bottoms to work at this rate...and i have been buying new items and even these dont do the trick.

sausagenmash · 23/03/2009 21:53

Frazz - can I be really 'old skool' and have a malibu and pineapple..... omg, that sounds like heaven...

Oops I thought prawns were ok as long as they were cooked? I had a runny fried egg the other day though... and I joined my Mum in a sherry on Mothers Day (jeez what a rebel)....

Momino · 23/03/2009 21:56

hi all.
I've only 2 pairs of jeans I can wear now: a 'skinny' pair from Topshop and a bootleg pair from my sister. both nice and comfy but both fall down if I don't wear a belt. and, since a belt now hurts, they do fall down so I need to wear long, long tops.

love the jogging/yoga pants but unfortunately can't wear them out of house as they do look too much like pyjamas.

can't wait to wear normal trousers again!

looby, good luck with getting your appointment. how annoying for you though.

we have a thick plaster dust in our kitchen/dining room as we had damp course workers in today and will be plastering tomorrow. what a pain. when they go tomorrow, i'm going to really have to drum up the nesting instinct in order to get the energy to clean everything. sigh. thank goodness mat leave starts next week!

Belgianchocolates · 23/03/2009 22:14

See I thought prawns were OK as long as you cooked them. Just don't have prawn cocktail.

I have over the bump Next jeans after lots of trying different styles and they definitely don't sink . I also have some black skinny jeans from H&M that make me feel really glamorous, especially if I wear my Isabella Oliver wrap top with it. I've got a goodbye and good luck with the baby meal with work on wed eve and that's what I'll wear.

Just watched the sperm race program. Amazing we got pregnant, isn't it. And that some of us have got pregnant again and again!

Bedtime now. DH is already snoring away on the sofa. Better give him a shake and make him go to bed or he'll be there till somewhere in the middle of the night and then wake me when he realises he's not in bed.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 23/03/2009 22:17

SnM

Ooooh Malibu & Coke is my drink of choice if I'm not cocktailing - it's kitsch and about half the alcoholic strength of vodka, etc.

I may have to have a Bounty now to almost recreate the flavour..............

divedaisy · 23/03/2009 22:21

Hi all Found you!! That last thread went so fast!

I hope you all had a lovely Mothers Day yesterday. I had a LIE IN until.... 12:30pm!!! Lovely. Was able to do this cos ds was at his Nans. then in the afternoon I started to sort out ds wardrobe to make room for bumps stuff! Even got the sheets on the crib and moses basket... and put the softy winnie the pooh in position too!!! Oh could this be nesting kicking in???

Getting very very sore, and today I mentioned my wait for physio to my mw. There was a referral put in to physio on 11 Feb. So I phoned physio dept today and they haven't received it yet... i was nearly in tears. There have been a few times when my legs have given way on me, so mw said I really need to get seen asap. I can't lift my legs to waddle - I shuffle!! Anyhow my mw is going to speak to my gp to get a referral that will also cover physio for my neck. Hopefully I'll get an appointment soon.

divedaisy · 23/03/2009 22:26

Anyone ever tried a Malibu and Milk?? I went through a phase of that years ago - a bit like drinking Pina Colada or coconut milk!! Yummy! But if you dont drink it fast enough it can curdle!!! LOL!

I nearly bought Pate for DH the other day... but put it back - too much temptation for me. So So glad to hear Boursin is OK!!!! WIll buy some for a wee celebration! And I'd love to have oven cooked camembert with crusty bread!!

Anyhow I'm going to bed now, but tomorrow I've about 5 pages of the old thread to catch up with!!!

Love the new title too!!

pulapula · 23/03/2009 22:28

belgian- been watching the great sperm race too although not that closely. I'm sure my DH must have super sperm as we got pg 3 times in the 1st month of trying (DD, then mc, then DS). DS2 took 3 months but that was once my periods returned after breastfeeding and my cycles weren't regular so our usual method of targetting what i thought were my fertile days didn't quite work. Our method was to have sex every 2-3 days around days 10-18 and it seemed to be enough lol! I know we were very lucky not to have any fertility problems and it was really hard when my sister needed IVF but really pleased to say her pg is going well (nearly 15 weeks now).

llareggub · 23/03/2009 22:39

divedaisy Malibu and milk, now that is a blast from the past! This used to be the speciality of a dodgy nightclub I used to go to. You know, the type of dodgy nightclub that rarely has any customer over 18! SOrry to hear you are in pain.

I'm too lazy to read the rest of the thread, I wanted to mark my place but I'm off to bed now, will have a good read and catch up tomorrow.

flippineck · 23/03/2009 22:43

Malibu and milk? Bleurgh! Have you tried Baileys and milk though? That is yummy.

I was going to watch the great sperm race, but my grandmother phoned me. It was lovely, I haven't spoken to her for ages (usually too tird to phone people in the evenings) and she's great to talk to.

chocolatebunnies · 23/03/2009 23:11
