Spangle update - waters have gone, they're keeping her in on abx and steroids and giving her 48 hours to go into labour !!! So first baby on his way on this thread. She seems calm and in control

Belgianchocolates · 31/03/2009 23:03

Detsy thanks for that. One less worry to keep me up tonight...

Be off to London office timo so best get snoozing. Apple for typo but on I pod. Nighty nite fx

frazzledoldbag · 01/04/2009 01:01

Well I'm back on again. Just after my last post heard DD2 howling so ran upstairs to find her throwing up all over the place. So for the last 2.5 hours we've been on the sofa watching peppa pig and charlie and lola with her being sick every 15-30 mins. Thank god I didn't go off to hospital and leave her with MIL. Thankfully I'm feeling much better now with just the odd tightening which is normal for me anyway. Might come back on and talk to myself later if I'm still here with her.....am hoping she'll stop vomiting and fall asleep soon. Poor thing is absolutely exhausted (as is DH currently also sleeping next to her on the sofa).
God, what a night.
spangle so excited for you. Fingers and everything else crossed that all goes well. Can't wait for the birth announcement.
Am definitely packing a proper hospital bag tomorrow! This is all too scary all of a sudden.

pulapula · 01/04/2009 06:59

morning all,

Wonder if anything happened for Spangle last night?

Well the effects of the clocks seem to have worn off with DS who was awake at 6.20, his "fovourite" wakeup time . He is also determined to go and wake up his sister, and DH left early to go to London, so I am trying to entertain him with singing and kids TV.

LoobyLou36 · 01/04/2009 07:26

Morning all.

Oh wow spangle! Wonder how she's getting on?

Am at work and wishing I wasn't Had a row with DH last night. He keepes telling me to go in and tell my boss I'm finishing this week as I don't owe him anything !(what with money probs and everything)
I know he means well cos I am knackered but I just can't face any confrontation at the moment after having such a crap week. (going on insulin, finding out I can't have a water birth, prob have to be induced early, birth plan shot to shit, etc, etc)

Sorry for the rant.

pulapula · 01/04/2009 07:55

loobylou- in some ways i can see your DHs point- your boss must "owe" you around 2 or 3 months leave in missed pay, but if you want to take this through legal proceedings (I hope you will) then you need to play by the rules and make a special request to finish early on medical grounds - could you ask for special/compassionate leave without pay (as you dont seem to get any pay anyway!)

llareggub · 01/04/2009 08:02

Looby in your shoes I'd get a med cert covering me for sickness until you reac 36 weeks, when your maternity leave can automatically be triggered by your employer if you are off sick. That's from an HR person too, and you know what we are like about sickness! You really don't own them anything.

spangle good luck! It is so real now! I can't find the list so don't know if you know what you are having, how exciting.

sausage DH and I have had quite a few humdingers lately. I think they are affected as much as we are by the arrival of the new one, but don't have the hormones to blame! I'm extra tired, which doesn't help my mood either. I hope things are better today.

Right, have got to get DS off to pre-school and then I'm off to see the consultants. My blood sugar was very low this morning even with the lower dose last night, so it is very odd as really it should be higher now that I have a UTI. Still, I'm not complaining as it meant I could have a guilt free ice cream last night!

Morning ladies. Sounds like crap sleep all around.

I have a funny tale for you from last night. I finally went to sleep at 1am after having a mega burst of energy (unheard of from me.) 2am DD2 then started shouting in her sleep - proper shouting "DD1 get down from there!" I rushed in to their bedroom to find both of them snoring, then DD2 shouted again, fast asleep.

Then, at 4.30 DD1 wakes up having wet her bed. It's only the 2nd time ever so I couldn't get cross, but picture in your mind a 36(ish) week, naked (sorry if TMI!) pregnant woman trying to change the sheets of a top bunk without waking snoozing DD2 on bottom bunk...

Firstly took the sheets off and tried to turn the mattress. Then heard "drip drip drip" as wee is dripping on DD2 head underneath. So didn't bother with that and put mattress right way again.

Then wrestled with taking sheet off and trying to put bargain new single fitted sheet on top bunk. This involved climbing up the ladder and attempting to fit sheet into corners. Except the sheet was too small and it's an ikea mattress which is slightly bigger than normal mattress. DD1 "Mummy, what are you doing?!" So gave up on that also.

Subsequent wrestling match with getting duvet in duvet cover, and tucking up DD1. Felt like I had run several marathons by the end of it. Certainly didn't want to wake up when alarm went on this morning - nap for me this afternoon (after trip to ikea to buy some more sheets. Sigh!)

DC - who'd have em?!

FiKelly · 01/04/2009 09:20

detsy thanks for keeping in touch with spangle. can't believe one of our LO's are on their way already!

def getting last bits for hospital bag today and ds's activity bag sorted for when he goes to my aunties.. better get his likes/dislikes & general routine book written too. oh and write birth plan down..

frazzle glad your tightenings eased off but sorry to hear your dd was so poorly in the night. is she any better this am?

llareggub let us know what your consultants say.. at guilt free ice cream night.

looby my birth with ds couldn't have been more different to my birth plan even if i tried! best to just go with the flow and focus on the result of lo in your arms.. i'd take everyone's suggestions re work.. you don't owe them and i'm sure you could do without the stress of not being paid for even more work than you've already done..

big hug sausage xoxox

Morning everyone. Just a quick one really, because I was wondering if there's any news yet from Spangle. She could try and listen to her CD on last time today if nothing's happening I wish her tuns of good luck.

I feel like I jinxed it a bit yesterday though. In the morning I was wondering who would be the 1st one to have their baby, with April coming up and everything and by the evening we had our answer. Maybe I'll just keep quiet in the future until everyone has reached full term!

Sorry to hear about those of you who have had arguements with their DH's. I don't think they realise half the time how exhausting this stage in pregnancy can be. My dh keeps nagging me about what we'll do with the front room. I just don't want to think about that and just want to relax and have no decorators/workmen around me. That way I can nap or try and listen to my CD whenever I like without feeling guilty or getting disturbed! In a way it's nice that he's working away. We talk on the phone 1x a day and after that I can go back to my own little world We don't get a chance to argue.

frazzled hope your dd will feel better soon. Hopefully both of you can have a nap today. Also good to hear those tightenings have worn off.

Tummum DS has got one of those high sleeper beds, so I know how challenging it is to change sheets up there.

looby I think your dh is probably worried about you and wants you to take it a bit easier. llareggub has got a good suggestion I think and with all the money you're owed your dh does have a point. If you go off sick you'd avoid a confrontation as well. Oh and, looby, IMO the best birth plan is a birth plan where you keep an open mind and take things as they come. It's difficult to plan for something you haven't done before and the best you can do is to make the best of what will happen and turn it into a positive event, even though it is not like you planned. Like fi said: focus on meeting your baby. That's ultimately what we all want.
